Title: HBO: Deadwood...
Post by: The Prowler on August 15, 2013, 08:33:30 PM
Siap, but I started watching this series (just started the last Season) and I've gotta say, I LOVE this series...and it has more known actors and actresses than any series I've ever seen (some weren't known actors or actresses until after the series ended)...there are a handful of big named actors in it as well. If you haven't seen it, you like Western type shows and you have HBOGO, it's a must watch.

August beginning to my morning, stymied on the front porch with a degenerative tit licker.

Correction, you don't have to like "Westerns" to like this. It takes place back in 1876...you history buffs should know what happened in Deadwood, South Dakota back in 1876 (10-02-76 to be exact).

Great show. But it's target audience was too small.

Let me get this straight.  Some cocksucker from San Francisco stole my drugs?

No it wasn't and whomever made that picture apparently didn't watch the show from start to finish. People cancelled their HBO subscription because they cancelled the show, the show was nominated and won Emmys and had almost a 9/10 in IMBd. The Deadwood series was more historical than 90% of what's shown on the History Channel, nearly every character in the series was a real person...though how they got to Deadwood or what they did there might've been skewed a bit.

It's a series that I'll watch all over again and hope that they make a final season or movie...maybe the History Channel will pick it up to finish it.

Not likely.  I don't see the history channel letting AL say "get the whores to fuckin'".

It's more educational than anything they've got on there now...even the feedings of Wu's pigs.

Fucking finally.

Filming on the Deadwood movie begins.  Errbody is back except Cy Toliver...for obvious reasons.

Release date sometime in late 2019.

Watched the Deadwood movie last night...with great anticipation.

I was left a little unsatisfied.  It was fantastic to see those characters all again, but it all seemed a little forced. The story had advanced 10 years and the characters had matured a bit, but to have everyone joined in lockstep like it was Mayberry struck a false chord for me.

The whole story around Trixie was illogical.  As powerful as Hearst is, there is no way she makes a public display and reveals herself.  Not with a baby arriving any day and a cushy life requiring no crusty rimjobs for hoopleheads.  In fact, why was she even still in the camp with Hearst on his way?  Then, as he's expiring, Al gifts the Gem to Trixie?  He's already killed for her and she's set up...why not gift the Gem to his trusted man, Dan Dority?

We didn't get much insight into Charlie's death wish.  He seemed genuinely happy to see Jane, Alma and Sophia.  Then, knowing what he knows about Hearst's negotiation tactics, he shows up...and refuses.

Did we have any prior indication that Harry was a shitheel?  I seem to remember he was part of a lynch mob that Bullock talked down, but don't really recall his backstory.  I get that Hearst can get almost anyone to do his bidding, but there was no indication that Harry was looking to turn.  I guess he got tired of catching shit for complaining about his gout.

All in all, it was more a nostalgic opportunity to say goodbye to these characters (since we were denied a proper series finale) than a triumph of the show's traditionally excellent storytelling.

Jack McCall runs from no man!

Remember that type of guy when you have your own place, Agitator.  An agitation can bring a slight bump to whiskey sales, sure.  But the sale of mommy part plummets.  I often wonder if I should take that picture of Lincoln down

I gotta say first I had no idea this series was made so long ago in 04, second how the fuck did I miss this gem of a show!!  So many of my favorite actors in it!!

In the middle of a marathon cram session now.

Scuse my ill humor. A lot of folks wear on my fuckin nerves!!
