Title: Scarbinsky shocker
Post by: Kaos on August 14, 2013, 12:35:11 PM
Quote
During the last five years, the Tigers went 17-23 in the SEC.

That’s worse than the five-year Doug Barfield era. It’s worse than the last four years of Terry Bowden plus Tommy Tuberville’s first year. It’s the program’s worst five-year record in the conference since the transition from Earl Brown to Shug Jordan in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Holy mother of pearl.  That's unacceptable.

Yeah, it's skewed a little.  It includes Tuberville's crash and burn 2008 year and Chizik's titanic.  But it also includes 8-0 in 2010.

Quote
Brandon Cox wouldn’t make any short list of the greatest quarterbacks in school history, but he was Auburn’s last opening-day starter in consecutive years in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In that three-year period, the Tigers went 29-9 overall and 18-6 in the league. They finished one win short of reaching the SEC Championship Game in 2005 and 2006, and they finished in the top 15 in the country all three years.

Oh, and Auburn won more SEC games in the three-year Cox era than it has in the five years since.

Define short.

Greatest AU QBs list would include Cox.

Cam, Sullivan, Craig, Slack, old guy, Cox, Campbells (Jason and Randy)  who else?

Here's hoping once 2010 rolls off our "last five years" after the 2015 season, we don't break the record we're at now.

Stan

No. Never liked Stan.  He's way down the list for me.  Not top 20.

Didn't realize this was based on whether or not we like him.

Like him or hate him he holds most of the records.  I think that would deserve a top 5.

I don't know what records, if any, Jeff Burger holds.  Probably none.  I just liked that tough ass sonuvabeetch. He'd kick your ass on Saturday afternoon and get busted with a gun in his truck at the Krystals at 1:30 the next morning.  He was always in trouble.  Pat Dye even had to hold him out of one play against Florida.

He was there four years.  Quality over quantity.

Which of the following would you eliminate for Stan?

Newton
Sullivan
Slack
Craig
Campbell, J
Campbell, R
Nix
Kent, M
Freeman, Bobby
Sidle
Burger
Craig
Cox
Hunt
Gargis

Ok... so he may be Top 20, but he's not top 10.  Not in my book.

Nix > White

White won 29 games as an AU starter over four years.
Nix won 17 as a starter in two years.

White's one of four QBs who led AU in passing for three or more years since 1970 and the only one to do so over four years.

Top three in passing:
 Stan White  8016
 Jason Campbell  7373
 Brandon Cox  6959

White four years. Campbell and Cox three.

I'd replace one of the Craigs with Stan

But they were so much better doubled up.

I don't see any list above I wouldn't take today over what we got, and I mean that includes a 40 yr old, give or take a year or so, Stan White, or a cancer beating grandpa in Sullivan!

Sorry. I was referring to the one who looks like the other one.

Stan is top ten for me. During Coach Dye's last season White stood in there and took an ass beating while the program was sinking.

And we were a bullshit call against UGA from going to a bowl.

I cussed that mother fucker out every game in 1992.  He couldn't catch the clap from a Vietnamese whore house.

This would be one of my choices at Wide Receiver. Imagine Ronney with Todd or Newton.

Obomonu, Aromoshuduthatyoudo, Daniels, Taylor.....all great wide receivers.

Frank Sanders would run circles around them.

Ronney Daniels on Cam Newton: “Oh yeeeeah, I would have caught plenty of them balls."

And Daniels came ready to play, full growed...24,25 years old.

Give me Lutz, Beasley and the old man.
