Dee Liner clearly agrees...

It's sad though because this is just causing more schools to beg for more money. Higher ticket prices. High cost of merchandise.
The bubble is going to burst one day. The billionaire Nike guy can handle it, sure. But the wealthy Alabama businessman who makes $300k while supporting his family is not going to want to shell out more and more money just because Auburn feels the need to give each player their own pet tiger.
Also, I'm surprised no one has included players' dorms in their high priced renovations. You want to really sell a kid to your school? Put him in a dorm room that goes along with those football facilities.

I could be wrong, but I imagine there are probably rules in place to prevent that. How enforceable they are is another issue.

Separate dorms for athletes were banned several years ago, maybe mid-90's? They were too nice even back then compared to all other dorms. Besides, that would take out one of the main ways the players get extra money. Their scholarship is based on the price of staying in a dorm on campus. If two or three split an apartment, which is much cheaper, all the extra money goes in their pockets.

That's called using the ole noodle. Honestly, that's fine with me. Here's how much we allow for rent. Rent a dorm on campus, go in and split an apartment 5 ways, live in van down by the river if you want.

Snags agrees with the middle paragraph. No way he makes 300k just so a player gets a free tiger. What a waste. His hard earned dollars needs to go to more worthy things like a strippers lounge.

You mean like the Dorms that Auburn is building and showing off to the recruits (47" LED TVs, washers, dryers and furnished in every room)?

It's mind boggling.
I took a class at UAB this past spring and was flabbergasted to have spent $1300 for one class.
It's insane. Then I was looking into taking chemistry this fall, and it was required to take a lab plus a recitation class, both of which cost more money and both require their own materials, which of course are overpriced.
It's sad really.

A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald ... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one -- big hitter, the Lama -- long, into a 10,000-foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? 'Gunga galunga .... gunga, gunga-lagunga.' So we finish the 18th and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that going for me, which is nice."
