Title: Scot Loeffler blames Auburn players for his failures
Post by: Jumbo on July 29, 2013, 10:15:33 PM
Former #Auburn OC Scot Loeffler implies players inherited from Chizik, Malzahn the reason he was a 'really bad coach' http://t.co/kMMPnh0S33

He probably could have worded it a little differently, but I suppose the premise of his argument is correct.  Maybe he is a shitty coach, who knows.  All I know is that there aren't many coordinators that would have done any better under Chizik with the players and philosophy that they were handed.

That was very unprofessional of him.

But probably not far from the truth.

Malzahn and Chizik put all theirs eggs in the Kiehl "You Should Have Known Based on the Spelling of My First Name" Frazier basket.  But in reality, who could have known he'd be that bad?  A tall, thick, athletic quarterback who made a lot of plays and garnered a lot of hype and attention coming out of high school.  He just hasn't adjusted to the speed of the next level.  It's obvious when watching him play.  I'm sure he can launch the ball down field and if you race him in a foot race, he's probably really fast.  But as for SEC football, he can't decide to put one foot in front of the other before it's too late.

Clint Moseley and Jonathan Wallace, who I'm sure is one of the hardest working regular joes in America, were both scout team quarterbacks being put in leadership roles that are out of their league.  Being the starting quarterback for a program like Auburn will always be out of their league.

Loeffler comments aside...the teams that some of us feel we can beat just to get bowl worthy have QBs with big numbers and pass ratings...Bray, Russell, Wallace etc. We just haven't had a baller on their level. Guess we'll find out about Marshall too once he straps it on.  :aubie:

Not to mention they ran Trotter off who just might have had a good senior season.

I did not see a bad offense in the sense of the scheme. The scheme was pretty sound. But when you cannot hit a pass to loosen up the running game, it is almost impossible to run with 9 and 10 in the box. It will be the same this season if our QBs cannot hit an open receiver.

SL did well before and will probably do well after. I wonder what the stache has to say. He has been quiet.

As stated, while true, it shouldn't have  been said.

Scheme-wise?  Any one thing they were doing was sound, but as a whole, the offense had no personality.  I based power run one minute, spread passing the next, spread running the next.  Good at none of it for the most part, at least not when it counted.  I'm spitballing but I bet much of Masons run yardage was had on 3rd and long passing downs.

And you hit the nail on the head.  SL will probably look brilliant by comparison post Auburn, or rather post Chizik.  I blame him for it all.  SL was a victim of circumstance for the most part.  Lack of talent, particularly at QB was a big part of that circumstance.

VT's OC gets to start this season the way he ended last season...against uat. Let's see how good he is with Pro-Style type players at his disposal. IMO, it'll look similar to his last meeting against uat.

I thought he was already expecting that, hell he already started the excuses.

Virginia Tech opens the upcoming season against Nick Saban's Tide.  "His defense is more complex than any college defense in the country," Loeffler said Monday.

It's July in Florida: 100% humidity and a heat index of approximately 983.

My taint hasn't been dry since March.

I revel in my musk.  I like to dig a hand down there and spread the love behind my ears.  Let those pheromones do they work!
