Title: Time to leave the state
Post by: Kaos on May 14, 2013, 09:46:01 AM
It's time to get out of here.

Engvall, Foxworthy and Idiot Cable Douche are building a "Redneck Six Flags" in Foley.  The line has officially been crossed.

Maine is great for small businesses from a tax and incentives perspective.  Plus there are moose.

I'm leaving and probably going to TexASS, although Maine is tempting.

If Maine didn't have winters that rival what they see in Westeros, I'd be there in a heartbeat.  Beautiful state.  Sparse population and great seafood.

Austin is a nice place to raise a family, if I was going raise one. And, they also have killer BBQ (Franklin's) and no kill animals shelters. Wages suck along with every other fucking state south of the Mason-Dixon line, with the exception of Maine which sucks worse than here (Mobile). Fuck Alex Jones with Snaggle's dick.

If any choice in my life depended on whether or not an animal shelter was no-kill, I would have shot myself in the head a long time ago.

Hey hey hey.... This Austinite agreed with him.

I mean, most animal shelters use taxpayer money for funding and/or are a part of a county or city govt structure which bottomfeeder hates but hey, those are technicalities that we'll just ignore.

Auburn just got named a top 10 town again in Forbes. I'll stay right here.

I read that have to agree, Auburn would be a nice place to retire. Do you have neighbors?

I would have shot myself in the head a long time ago.

I tried that and failed.

I would be surprised if this actually happens.  It is 5 minutes away from my house, so I hope it doesn't.

Pisses me off only because there won't be any way for me to get to Soldier's Creek without having to deal with the bama fans flocking to ride Mount Incest, the Roller Coaster.

Soldier's Creek off Perdido Bay?

Soldier's Creek off Perdido Bay?

Elberta.

http://www.soldierscreekgolf.com/  Play there a couple of times a month because it's not super expensive and the course is really nice.  It's a long drive from the house, but it's worth it for a lot of reasons.

Gotcha.  The mention of Soldier's Creek brought back some memories.  One of my best buds growing up, his family had a place on Perdido Bay right down from the opening to Soldier's Creek. Spent a lot of time fishing and boating in there.

If you're coming south on Hwy 59 from your neck of the woods, head east on CO RD 32.  It will take you all the way to 95, (you will see one of our fire stations in Elberta on 32 a half mile before 95) then take 95 south to Soldier's Creek.  If you're heading south on 98, you can take 32 right from 98 in Fairhope.  Either way, you won't even hit Foley.

I love to night fish in Soldier's Creek.  It can be a pain in the ass to get in and out of, but good fishing.

From daphne I usually go 181 to 98. That lets me cross 59 and the beach express without ever touching either.  But if the build this hillbilly hootenanny in the area by that Waffle House/McDonalds on the beach express I imagine that intersection becomes a nightmare.

You're right though. I could sneak across on 32. And hit big daddy's on the way back.

Not sure why Engvall and Foxworthy don't put that shit in their own damn state. You know, the state that is home to the most redneck city in America per a publication released last week.

They're building it basically in all of that area behind the McDonald's at CO RD 20.  It was originally going to be just an RV park years ago, but they ended up ditching that location.  The same people that were going to develop it then are the same people that put the RV park at Soldier's Creek.

Big Daddy's is one of the best kept secrets around.  I'm glad it's somewhere tucked away that you have to know how to get to instead of being on the main drag and getting invaded by asshole tourists.
