Title: Spikes out
Post by: ssgaufan on March 07, 2013, 11:45:25 AM
The San Diego Chargers released two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes on Thursday, the team announced.

The 36-year-old Spikes addressed his release in a tweet Thursday morning and said he plans to play in 2013, which would be his 16th NFL season.

"Thank you to the @chargers, Spanos family & fans for the opportunity to represent the organization. I look forward to this upcoming season," he wrote.

Spikes has never been on a playoff team. He earlier played with Cincinnati, Buffalo, Philadelphia and San Francisco. The Chargers missed the playoffs the last three seasons.

He had 78 tackles last season and in 219 career games has registered 1,423 tackles, 29 sacks, 19 interceptions and 15 forced fumbles.

"Takeo is a true professional and a class act," general manager Tom Telesco said in a statement. "We're grateful for his many contributions to the Chargers organization, both on and off the field, and wish him nothing but the best in the future."

Maybe he will get picked up by a team that can actually make the playoffs.

Heard this on the radio. They mentioned someone like the Patriots or the Ravens.

I wouldn't bet against him playing somewhere next year...but...

Maybe we can add him to the coaching staff in one of those off-field roles with an eye to putting him in some motherfuckers' faces and kicking the pussy out of them.

I would jizz myself multiple times a day if this were to happen.

He'd ran out of leg last year.

His neck alone could do that, leaving the rest of him for recruiting.

You got that right. On the other hand, Jake Holland would have his ass permanently relocated to the top of his head. Takeo might have been on crutches from all the ass kicking he would have done, but Jake would have to do a hand stand to take a shit.

If he were to be a LB GA for one year, we'd see a drastic change in all of our LBers from previous years.

Transition the clipboard from his left hand to his right.

Transition the clipboard from his left hand to his right.

Or from Spikes left foot to right.

There is a difference in being a pussy and being a shitty college linebacker. I don't think Holland is a pussy by any means. He tries hard and he stands in the pocket and tries to hit people. He just isn't successful at it.

I think he is both and has had some real shitty coaching. Not a good combination.

So, basically you are saying with a little coaching he can grow his hair back?

I have never seen Holland shy away from contact.

Now, he got his ass driven back or to the ground and he has whiffed while trying to make contact, but I don't think he is scared...

No way you step on the field as a LB in the SEC if you're skeered.  You are correct, sir.  Bad angles, bad tackling form, not strong enough....whatever.  But skeered?  Nope.

Everybody's a pussy when Takeo Spikes is around.

It's hard to be scared of something you've never encountered. Put some pads on Takeo and let him hit Jake a few times.

I don't know for sure why he sux.  He does suck for a fact.  Scared?  Like shaking, and conscientiously afraid of competition at this level?  Doubt it.   Subconsciously afraid?  Maybe.  Indecisive?  Too timid for this level of play?  Maybe.  Whatever causes the suckage in him, it's strong!
