Just saw where new Philadelphia Eagles Coach, Chip Kelley, hired Bama's O-line coach, Jeff Stoutland. Just a bit weird to me since the whole debate has been whether Kelley's style of offense will translate to the pro game. Don't know much about Stoutland's past prior to corching for The Tahd, but they've been straight up pro style with their O. Is Kelley planning on changing? I would imagine the the style of blocking is night and day with the two offenses.

Both are zone oriented. Bammer was very zone heavy. I can get why he'd want him as OL coach.

It's not always about schemes.
Former collegiate and All-WAC offensive guard, Barrett R. from Chandler, Arizona knows a thing or two about pushing big guys around during football training. With years of experience in coaching youth players, Barrett says that he’s found that young athletes tend to under utilize their strongest joints- their hips. He says a great offensive line drill that teaches players to use their hips is called the “Hip-Drive Sled Push.â€
Barrett explains: “This is a very unique football training drill I find that helps my clients throw or marry their hips. I start the athlete(s) on their knees, sitting back on their heels, with their toes dug into the ground and in a coiled position. Their heads are positioned no more than an inch away from the sled pad. On the command, they go from the coiled position and strike the pad, with their facemasks and hands colliding with the pad simultaneously. If done correctly, the sled is driven a few yards forward and the athlete lands flat on their face.†This drill may seem funny and definitely looks funny in person, but it is a fantastic drill to utilize the hips.

Alabama holding calls are almost nonexistent because they are getting away with using professional blocking techniques.
When many young offensive linemen learn the hook block, they have a tendency to narrow their base on their second step by actually trying to step too far. They find that their power foot never really has time to make contact with the ground before the defender reacts to them, knocking them off balance. If the offensive blocker is having this type of trouble, the defensive man can be moved off the line a few feet, thus giving the blocker more opportunity to set himself. As the blocker's skill level increases, the defender can be moved closer and closer to the line of scrimmage.
