Quote
Less than three full weeks on the job, Auburn running backs and special teams coach Rich Bisaccia is close to becoming the special teams coach for the Dallas Cowboys, according to multiple reports.

The Dallas Morning News and ESPN Dallas, both report citing unnamed sources Bisaccia, who was hired on Jan. 3, interviewed with the Cowboys and his buyout from Auburn has to be finalized.

He spent the previous 11 years in the NFL, the past two with the San Diego Chargers and the prior nine with Tampa Bay where he worked with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

An Auburn spokesman was unable to comment on the reports and was not aware if Bisaccia has signed a formal contract with Auburn. The terms of Bisaccia’s contract, as well as the Tigers’ six other assistant coaches, have not been released.

In a release announcing his hiring, Bisaccia called the Auburn position a “tremendous opportunity” and mentioned his past working experience with defensive coordiator Ellis Johnson and co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Charlie Harbison.

“I met Gus in the spring of 2010 and have followed his cutting edge offense and what he’s accomplished as a coach since he started coaching in college,” Bisaccia said in the Jan. 3 statement. “He’s a man of character and I had previously worked with Ellis Johnson and Charlie Harbison, so I knew the type of staff that Gus was putting together. I’m excited and ready to help Auburn return to a championship caliber team.”

I said it when we hired him, to get him signed ASAP and put in a Billion Dollar buyout if he leaves for the NFL before his first season was done.

Oh well, move Tim Horton to RB Coach, lose out on a couple RB targets, steal Altee Tenpenny away from uat, sign a TE Coach/Special Teams Coach (looking at you Coach Boulware), sign a top 15-20 class, look like a different football team starting in Sept., compete for the SEC Championship in year two, watch uat get smushed by the NCAA led by a new President for violations committed in '08-'12, laugh at uat because they have to forfeit their past three Championships and Auburn competes in the 4 team playoffs for the BCS Championship in year 3. Coach Malzahn then leaves for the NFL to get another fast paced HC like Chip Kelly, because he's been somewhat successful. Hire the HC that uat wanted really bad, have him make a statement about ”that team in East Mississippi being a cesspool and he didn't want any part of what's going on over there, didn't want to tarnish his name like the past coach (whatever his name was, sabbiny something or nother).” Begin a win streak against uat that ends at 11 straight...winning 6 National Championships and competing in 3 more Championship games while doing so.

“He’s out recruiting,” Malzahn said of Bisaccia, who was hired Jan. 3, before speaking at the Alabama Football Coaches Association convention at the Embassy Suites in Montgomery.

Should Bisaccia leave, Malzahn has found an apparent replacement in Arkansas State wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator and former Auburn director of offensive quality control Casey Woods.

Malzahn said the hiring of Woods, which was first reported by FootballScoop.com Thursday afternoon, is a “possibility at this point.” When asked if he could say in what capacity Woods would be brought to the staff Malzahn said “not at this time.”

Who? You mean D. Greene I assume? Yeah...he was probably a long shot anyway but this definitely doesn't help. I think we just downgraded big time. Apparently, we brought some dude that has been in an administrative position up to coach TE's and moved the dude that came from Arkansas over to coach RB's.

We downgraded for sure, but I don't think the guy is terrible.  Paul Rhoades tried to retain him as TE Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, so there is at least that.  What bothers me is there is nothing in this guys resume where he has coached ST.  All his coaching experience is OT and TE.

I would like to have seen Malzahn take some time and find a top flight ST coach.  We lured one away from the NFL...for a few weeks....so there's no reason we couldn't snatch one from another school.  Got to be some good ones looking to come to the SEC.

I don't know how much effect this will have.  Parkey was solid all year.  No reason he won't be this year.  Clark absolutely suxxed by year's end.  He couldn't punt it 30 yards twice in a row to save his life.  Our punt return and kickoff return teams were little to no threat to do anything.  Hell, I was happy when they just caught the ball on a punt.

The bottom line is as long as the long snapper does his job, we'll be just fine.

CGM is forward thinking and preparing. I trust him. But, who am I?

A word on Kiehl, but no mention of JJ (which he may end up RSing). JW should win the spot with ease as Frazier is just not much of a running threat, at least not as much as Wallace.

I think we get two QBs (because we aren't stable enough to get one) Worry more about our soft assed OL.

I think we get two QBs (because we aren't stable enough to get one) Worry more about our soft assed OL.

Two years of experience and the workouts are going to be productive. With the spread, a true dual threat QB and a couple of big backs, we should be competitive to say the very least.
