Do unemployment rules apply to state employees too? He'll probably stay on the dole and write another book title "All Out".

Not to dog the man, but I can see Chiz catching on to another school for far less money, maybe even a buttoned up type where he can be at least semi-successful, ACC or such. It's quite possible he learned from this experience and could do what he loves in a conference that isn't so competitive.

Southern Miss went 0-12 so unless he burnt the place to the ground he couldn't do worse.

Yeah for at least two seasons depending on how the new crew adapts to their personnel.

With all of the coaching moves so far, he will end up as a coordinator somewhere.  I highly doubt he will get another HC gig.

Maybe not, but Western Kentucky is not too bad considering where Fran and Price eventually landed.

Why work now, and essentially work for free?  Actually, work for a net loss, when you consider the cost of relocation?  Since his payout from Auburn is reduced by whatever his new salary is, there is no near-term financial incentive for him to move on.

(At least, that is my understanding of the terms in the Chiz contract - did Tubs have something similar, or was he paid-in-full prior to taking the TT job?)

I don't disagree.  After what Chizik fielded this season, no team is going to be dumb enough to hire him as a HC though.  WKU certainly wouldn't hire him.

Chiz could very well end up at the table in Miami with Tubs or Urban. Don't sell the guy short.

Hell I wouldn't work either but the dude doesn't seem the type to hang loose, even if you think no program desires his services. Fact is he is a football coach that struck gold and went cold. And I think he's smart enough to realize his errors. I could be wrong but I doubt it in this instance.

And I can agree with you as a Bam on maybe 80 % of what you spout but don't try and pass off that Chiz is a permanent blithering idiot just because a few seem to agree with you here or you think he's too hardheaded to realize his errors. The man isn't a bad coach he just went beyond his realm. But that doesn't mean he can't lead a lower program or eventually ascend to a higher one.

Most programs aren't going to take a chance on him as a HC because of the product that they saw on the field this season.  As a coordinator, that's a different story.  I think that he has a good chance as a decent DC somewhere.  As you have said, he simply went beyond his realm.

He has already proven that he can't lead a lower program (ISU), and for the most part, couldn't hack it at a higher level either.  If you don't believe that 2012 was a result of him being hardheaded, then I can't help you.  It's not me being a goat fucking bammer.  Just look at the whole timeline and the results.  He is destined to be a DC for the forseeable future.

Agreed one of those mentioned above but that has nothing to do with the here and the now. His failure has been well documented as it pertains to Auburn specifically, after a MNC. There is no reason to believe this man will continue to follow the same approach that led to his demise. Again, I could be wrong but I seriously doubt it.

The reason he is in the situation that he is in now is because he followed the same approach that didn't work at ISU.  The guy just isn't a good head coach.  Nothing wrong with that, and no reason to beat the guy down about it.  It just is what it is.  Whether you like it or not, nearly everything positive that came from 2010 has been overshadowed by the results of 2011 and 2012.  2010 has merely become the punchline when describing how fast and hard AU has fallen the past two seasons.

No worth a shit program is going to hire him as a HC and say "Well, he was able to win them a MNC, but he was shitty any other year.  Sounds good!"  How do you sell your fanbase on the notion that the guy is going to turn your program around?

Talk about a sweet unemployment check. Chiz was never a popular hire @ Auburn (well not as a H.C. he wasnt. Chiz rode the Cam train and was credited for something that only Coach Tub brought to Auburn. Then the wheels came off! Best of luck to Chiz though.

Yes we had issues but one thing that stood out for me was.......... Some truly crappy calls went against Auburn that for some reason never challenged by Chiz. He gave up very early in the season and he knew his U Haul would pull up moments after the Iron Bowl.

Gus is building something very special @ Auburn and from the ground up. Be nice to see the deep threat passing game again as it compliments the run. Our D will grow as well. Very excited and I cant wait to get back on top where Auburn deserves to be.

If I were Chiz, I would make the obligatory, minimal effort at finding a coaching job but I would be selective. 200K a month or whatever it is would tend to make me  fatter and more worthless. FU's would be sprayed toward unwitting victims on a more regular basis.
