I really like both of those hires, Lashlee is a young coach (29, iirc, but he's gonna skyrocket)

Agree on both.
Good, young guys with fresh approach.
I'm liking this more and more.

Wow.
This is another one of those "I'm old" milestones.
I'm older than a coordinator at Auburn.
Lashlee seems like basically Gus's puppet, and nothing more. Guess this affirms that Gus will be running the offense.

I'm guessing that's the case.

So the one guy was Yox's assistant - here's hoping he learned at the feet of the Master about how to bring the pain.
Lots of youth and inexperience rolling in. Whether good or bad remains to be seen.
-
Also heard that Mr. Kodi Burms will be back on Auburn's sideline as a GA, coming over from his first year as GA at Arkansas State. So far, so good in Staff changes, IMO.

If anyone missed it, here's Auburn's S&C Coach Ryan Russell (he prepares the team for the HUNH Attack on Offense and a Attacking Defense)

Yeah I'm ashamed that I actually bought the Chiz bit about letting his coaches coach and dogged Malzahn here for the play selection and QB roulette before he left.
We have a ways to go but this is a great start and whereas I think it might take more time to get there w/o Petrino, longterm this at least appears that Auburn is heading in the right direction as he severs ties with the old guard. Naturally, like others my concern is with the defense because we could very well put up over 30-40 initially and still lose. But it starts with hard work and accountability and it looks like Gus knew this all along. WDE!

Don't know if this needs to be moved to the concourse, or what, but Rhett Lashlee is obviously doing something right.

I don't have a problem with this. It will be great experience calling plays. Especially without Gus around:

So, Auburn has a new OL coach.

J.B. Grimes to coach Auburn's OL
AUBURN - J.B. Grimes, a veteran of more than 30 years as an offensive line coach, has joined first-year head coach Gus Malzahn's staff.
Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes
Grimes, who was Malzahn's offensive line coach at Arkansas State last season, is the fourth assistant hired by Malzahn, joining offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson and defensive back coach Charlie Harbison.
“J.B. is a tremendous coach who is one of the nation’s top teachers at the offensive line position,†Malzahn said. “He has an incredible resume coaching the position and has taught countless players at the NFL level. He played a vital role in our team’s success this past season and we’re fortunate to have him join our program at Auburn.â€
At Arkansas State, Grimes coached an offensive line unit that helped set a school-record with 481.8 yards of total offense per game while ranking No. 16 nationally in fewest sacks allowed. Senior offensive lineman Zach McKnight earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors under Grimes’ direction as the offense led the Sun Belt in rushing and ranked in the top 25 nationally in total offense, scoring offense and rushing offense.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to coach at Auburn and join Coach Malzahn’s staff,†Grimes said. “I’ve always admired Auburn football, having coached in the Southeastern Conference and even when I was younger watching Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley play. It’s a special place with great history, traditions and fans. I’ve known Gus for several years and have admired the things he’s done as a coach. We did some great things this past season at Arkansas State and I look forward to doing the same at Auburn.â€
Prior to his arrival at ASU, Grimes was at Kansas (2010-11) and Mississippi State (2004-08) as the offensive line coach. Grimes’ coaching career also includes stints at East Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Louisiana-Monroe and Delta State as an assistant coach over the last three decades.
In his first season at Mississippi State, the Bulldogs rushed for 1,744 yards, the most at the school in four years. Behind his offensive line, MSU produced three seasons with a 1,000-yard rusher.
In his one season at East Carolina (2003), the Pirates' offensive line paved the way for its third straight 1,000-yard individual rusher. At Texas A&M (1998-2002) Grimes coached the offensive line under R.C. Slocum for five seasons as the Aggies posted a 40-22 overall record while playing in four straight bowl games.
While at Virginia Tech (1993-97) coaching for Frank Beamer, Grimes helped the Hokies to back-to-back Big East championships and five bowl games in five seasons.
Grimes also coached at Arkansas, serving as a graduate assistant in 1981-82 and as a full-time assistant coach in 1989-92, where he helped the Razorbacks to the Southwest Conference Championship and a Cotton Bowl appearance in 1990. At Arkansas, Grimes worked for Lou Holtz, Ken Hatfield and Jack Crowe.
Grimes also coached at Louisiana-Monroe (1979-80, 1985-88), Delta State (1983) and Missouri (1984) after spending his first two seasons at the high school level in the state of Arkansas at Nashville (1977) and Des Arc (1978). Louisiana-Monroe won the 1987 Division I-AA national championship.
As an offensive lineman at Henderson State, he helped his team to a 40-6 record in four seasons, including a berth in the 1974 NAIA Championship game. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Henderson State in 1977 and a master's degree in education from Louisiana-Monroe in 1981.
Grimes grew up in Clarendon, Ark. and is married to the former Jennifer Graves. The couple has four children, including sons Aaron and Nick and daughters Danielle and Lindsey.

Yeah, but what does HIS wife look like?
-
Would have been more cost efficient to put up the Auburn logos at the Arkansas State facilities than to move their program here one piece at a time.

For real. This is one helluva coaching staff Malzahn has put together already.
-
Can't argue with a thing CGM has done so far. Loving the defensive hires all the way around. If we can nab this guy, I'll feel better about special teams. I did note however, it didn't say anything about how he handles the deep snappers. Red flag.
-
I don't have skreets, but Hokanson said "leading candidate" is an "understatement", and posted this link to The Bunker (http://auburn.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?sid=884&script=showmsg.asp&cid=&fid=423&tid=&mid=).

Can't see what you linked to, but I did read that Ellis Johnson in an interview noted that the entire staff was already hired, but they were waiting to make the announcements.

Hmmm...
What are they waiting on? Could this mean the remaining "entire staff" is coming from the NFL?
I guess Bisaccia didn't need to play the last game before making the announcement. Maybe others do? Is it possible that Rock could still be coming to coach the DTs?
Bonerz want to know.
-
On second thought, I suppose it is more plausible that the coaches are waiting on their bowl games.
Keep forgetting about those pesky things since our season's been over for over a month...

He's the Mickey Mantle/Hank Aaron/Babe Ruth of Assistant coaches and no, I'm not joking. Coach Bisaccia is a fucking BADASS. If this were to happen, WOW would be an understatement.

John Harbaugh on Bisaccia as a coach.

Ravens Harbaugh thinks Chargers Bisaccia has head coaching potential
Scott Bair
Saturday, November 24, 2012
Chargers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia.
John Harbaugh is one of the NFL's best head coaches. He's led the Baltimore Ravens to the postseason in his four seasons at the helm. He's geared to go 5-for-5 this season, armed with an 8-2 record heading into Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Once upon a time, he was a special teams coach. Men with that title are typically typecast, pigeonholed in a role they can't escape.
Harbaugh bucked that trend. He was hired as a head coach after 18 seasons running special teams, separated only by a season coaching Philadelphia's secondary.
He discussed the benefits of his coaching background in a conference call with San Diego media. Then, without prompting, Harbaugh endorsed another member of his fraternity.
“You have a guy there in (Chargers special teams coach) Rich Bisaccia who’s a guy many people would consider to be (a head-coaching candidate),†Harbaugh said. “I’m sure that his name has come up before and I’m sure that it will come up again. He’s just a special coach.â€
Strong words from an influential source. It's also timely, considering Bisaccia's name was mentioned as an interim head coach if Norv Turner were fired during the season.
That's not a far fetch. Bisaccia is a rare combination of technical wizard and motivator, with the disposition to lead an entire team.
But, when his name was brought up as a replacement for Turner, sources said Bisaccia didn't like it one bit. Bisaccia is loyal to his head coach and this group of special teammers.
In the future, however, head coach is a title he's like to attain.
“We all have goals and aspirations and being a head coach would be one of mine,†Bisaccia said. “But, right now, my only focus is on protecting the punter and helping this team perform well on special teams.â€
Bisaccia and Harbaugh agree that coaching special teams provides unique perspective for a head-coaching candidate.
“When you coach the whole team, basically as you do in special teams, I think that you gain a perspective that you can really only get coaching that part of the team,†Harbaught said. “It probably transitions into a head coach role more than any other spot, I would say. I’m probably a little biased, but I think that there’s some truth to that.â€
While it may help, it's not a pre-requisite. In fact, few NFL head coaches have a special-teams background. Harbaugh has paved the way, and his success may help Bisaccia get hired when the time comes.
“He's done a great deal for special teams coaches with his success as a head coach,†Bisaccia said. “It has opened a lot of people's eyes and changed some opinions regarding special teams-assistants. He's made his bones in a lot of different areas and he has near-universal respect in this league.â€
-
So, you're saying therre's no worries with the deep snapper position?
Bisaccia came to the Bucs in 2002 and since then the Bucs' special teams have ranked in the top 10 in the league in several categories. Under Bisaccia the Bucs sent three specialists - punter Josh Bidwell, long snapper Dave Moore and return man Clifton Smith - to the Pro Bowl.
Yup, that's what I'm saying. If he's hired, I'm guessing he'd coach RBs and Special Teams (he's the type of coach that would be successful at most positions).
