...Knoxvile.
It's just a rumor, but I seems to be every bit as strong as the Petrino to Auburn rumors...
Discuss.

Yeah, word is Dooley is slipping down the holler if they get bushwhacked by SCar Saturday.
Chucky in Knoxville...hmm. Not sure how that would work. He's not known for player development. Maybe they just want more a splash than Dooley was.

I'd love to have the guy but I think most people are enamored by his work as an analyst. He's damn good there and comes across as a football junkie. Note: He started his coaching career as a GA at Tenn.
He had the Super Bowl year with the Bucs. Kudos. Other than that, he's barely over .500 in his coaching career.

Some of the names that pop up during coaching-search speculation are fucking laughable.

So you're saying we're getting Pete Carroll?

I heard on the radio that he makes nearly $5 million per year with the ESPN gig. Why would anyone leave an easy, nationally recognized and respected position as the main analyst on NFL MNF for a struggling Tennessee program that most likely won't match that amount of money?

$5 skwabrillion a year to break down football and talk about what everyone else is doing right/wrong.

If they were willing to double that...money talks. But they won't and he won't leave...so.

Not to mention the fact that if he coaches, it is a 24/7-365 job. Doing what he does now, he probably has a lot of time off during the off season.

How good of a College Head Coach would Gruden be?

How good of a College Head Coach would Gruden be?
I don't think he'd be all that special.
He has a lot of notoriety, charisma and a Super Bowl ring, so he would do very well with recruiting kids. If he can learn how to sell academics on top of his NFL experience with football, he'd do well with recruiting parents.
But as for coaching college kids? He's too complicated. One of his big issues in the NFL was player development and running a system that was too complex for most quarterbacks.

For your own good, you should go ahead now and make sure all sand has been washed from your mangina.

I would also advise the pre-emptive eating of a few dicks.

The only play call I'll ever remember came from Gruden's one-on-one with Luck:
