Title: Over 5 Yards A Pop...
Post by: Snaggletiger on October 11, 2012, 10:22:43 AM
ain't too shabby.  In just about every game this year, there have been periods where we've shown we can run the ball and either we go away from it, for some inexplicable reason.....or we kill a drive with a fumble.  Obviously, from the the quotes, it sounds like they've finally realized that and will simplify things to establish our "identity" as a running offense.  I'm fine with that as long as they stick with it and use smart passes when they do play action.  USE the tight end. Please!!!  Just do NOT call many plays that have the QB taking the 5 step drop and surveying the field.  Anyway...copypasta al.com

AUBURN, Alabama – Auburn

offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler said Tuesday night his offense will develop an identity of a running team, but who's going to do the running?  Tre Mason, Mike Blakely and Onterio McCalebb have all led Auburn in rushing in games this year, and that trio will be available again when the Tigers visit Ole Miss on Saturday.   "We would like to get a running back in a groove in a game and continue to give him the ball, but we've got a couple of guys who are suited for different things in what we're doing offensively," coach Gene Chizik said during the SEC teleconference Wednesday. "Some guys are more perimeter guys. Some guys are more inside guys. We have to use our personnel to the best of our ability, based on what they can do."

Mason leads Auburn with 307 yards on 59 carries. McCalebb has 262 on 49 carries. Blakely has 114 on 22 carries. McCalebb has the slightest edge in yards per carry. He is averaging 5.3 yards. Mason, Blakely and Wildcat quarterback Jonathan Wallace average 5.2 yards.

• Chizik reiterated he'll figure out his starting quarterback well before Saturday, likely after tonight's practice. He'll choose between Kiehl Frazier, who started the first five games, or Clint Moseley, who came in in relief in last Saturday's loss to Arkansas. It was the season debut for Moseley, who dealt with a sore shoulder since the spring.

On that shoulder, Chizik said, "It may not be 100 percent, but I feel like it's certainly close."

• Chizik's assessment of Ole Miss was positive for this year's team, probably less so for teams of the past.  "This is a very different Ole Miss team that we've seen the last couple of years. They've done a great job of coaching, and a great job of competing on the field," Chizik said. "They're playing with a lot of confidence and playing with a lot of energy.  "This will be a big challenge for us."

• Saturday's game will be the fourth morning kickoff. Auburn has a morning kickoff at Vanderbilt next week, too.  "Early-morning kicks have nothing to do with us," Chizik said. "We have a routine…the time of the day doesn't have anything to do with the performances we have on the field."

Please to be joining us in prayer to the Anti-Moseley.

As I've said, I don't think Fraysha has done a damn thing, but he's the only one I see with the ability to at least BECOME a decent QB.  How long that will be....?  But Moseley?  Well, I guess if all we're going to do is hand the ball off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he did throw for more yards in a half than Frayzheer did in the entire MSU game.

Yes it does cause your team sucks, nobody wants to watch them therefore your ass is on early as to get it out of the way

Playing Frazier means running the ball more.

2 TE sets with only 1 WR, since he only sees 1 WR anyway

So, we're 1-4, and Loeffler has now decided we're going to be a running team?    But he's not sure who will carry the mail?  The more I hear about the offense, and the more I see, it's like the Tony Franklin debacle, only worse.

The quarterback. Two receivers lined up to the left, one to the right.

There's a flanker lined up to the left behind the quarterback. The quarterback has the ball.

I say we line up in a one-back set...fake the hand off on the stretch play..to the right....and let Fraaaazha take a deep drop and go through his progressions...all of them.....until he's crushed like a kakaroach....for a 12 yard loss.....then run the draw.

This would be me in the locker room on the Offensive side...(add a thick Goatee, 30-40lbs, and a shaven head).

Sir your negative methods are outdated. We here at Auburn are committed to promoting a kinder, gentler atmosphere by employing positive reinforcement and simply cannot allow the children to be subjected to raving lunatics. We must accentuate the positive to promote a healthy, happy program. Shame on you!
