Who is available? Who would come? Who would you want to see replace Chiz? I don't think the question is "if" anymore, but "when".
I'll be honest and say I don't really have a name in mind. I think everybody would like a HC with a track record of success, but who fits that bill that would leave their current situation? What about a hot assistant? Who?
-
Charlie Strong #1
Kirby Smart #2
Paul Rhodes maybe

That would be my list but without replacing the abortion of an AD we have then we get none of the above.

How about John Chavis?

Career assistants are usually that for a reason.

I just got back home from watching this bullshit in person. Right now, I don't care who it is - let's fire up the jet & get it done. I wouldn't care if it was Bobby Petrino at this point. Whoever it's going to be, let's go ahead and get his name on a contract.

What are a list of coaches that would have manhandled today's Arkansas team?

Won't happen but: Nick Saban
Don't like him but the dude can coach and he has his teams ready to play.
Plus the meltdown in turdtown would be epic.

Not gonna happen, but someone off his coaching tree? Those in football know who is the real deal, and who isn't a real up and comer of the guys that work/have worked for him. Kirby Smart? Some think he's not really ready or the guy, others do. I don''t know. But we're the kind of job he's holding out for.
Could Tracy Rocker be ready to take a HC job in college? I damn sure would like a team that mirrored his intensity, but don't know if he's ready for the head job.

Anybody (with staff) has to be better.
If fired does anybody hire CGC? ( Not that I care)

Like Coker, and Dubose will work as a HC in obscurity at lower levels, or a DC in D1.

If you could pull him from TCU, then you throw the bank at Patterson.
Otherwise...Petrino is the homerun.
Paul Rhodes the safe pick.
Charlie Strong would be my #2B pick.

I'm in the Patterson club as well but I doubt there will be a change for a while in spite of the mountain of problems this program has.

And there in lies the problem, someone is gonna have to admit they were wrong.

My number one candidate:
Anyone not associated with auburn and has a successful business background that can be our athletic director.

I was in the Patterson camp when we ridded of tubs. I liked him and Brian Kelly.
Petrino would win and run a helleva offense. Do we want his baggage? I dunno
But as Dallas and others said, wont matter until Jacobs and Jackson are gone. They are most of the issue.

Housel was a good ad in my opinion. Dye wasn't bad either. But yeah we might need to reach outside for this one.

Petrino, good coach, but never landed even a top 25 class. People excuse them getting ass raped by bammer and LSU last season just like we did because they won 10. Great coaching, great offense, with smoke and mirrors only go so far.

Not if you retain Trooper and Looper. Don't need another Rodney Garner whipping our asses at recruiting again. Already hard enough with Saban without UGA, UT UF or one of the MS schools snatching one or both up.

Fuck no, clean house from top to bottom.

Fuck no, clean house from top to bottom.
Then you might as well go for BMFP, the best play caller in football IMO because recruiting will fall off sharply, somewhere in the realm of CTT but probably not that good once the shit settles.
I can't decide if we look like a team trying to move up in class or one that needs to take two weeks off and quit.

Agree. If Petrino kept bvg and brought in some other big name recruiters, I think we would be fine. Part of petrinos issue with recruiting was that he was at arky and Louisville. When have those two ever had consistent and good recruiting?

Me thinks Pat Dye might not be happy about this.
His ass needs to go first.

This will happen about the same time the bammers take down the bahr statue.

Believe it or not he doesn't run things like everyone thinks. Has input yes but...... He is propped up a lot too by Jacobs. Rid of Jacobs, and dye has no power at all.

As long as it's the new guy's decision to keep him on, I have no problem.

Never but I'm not big on Petrino. I'd much rather go for Patterson. As far as OC, I'm sure every Auburn
fan would like to see a Norm Chow type caliber. Unfortunately, Auburn doesn't have a good track record
for hiring big named OC's. Sure, there was Petrino and Malzahn but they were both relatively unproven at
the big boy level. Loeffler is in way over his head, by the way.
I would like to see D Craig come back to AU as the OC, and see if T-Will will come back to coach the LBers.
-
As long as it's the new guy's decision to keep him on, I have no problem.
True that.
So, what if Van Gorder was hired as the new HC? Rocker for DC?

I would think that before we hire-Someone (PTB) needs to be fired. No coach worth his salt is going to come in and have people looking over his shoulder (Dye).

Petrino beats anyone else! At least he can win

Need to avoid any semblance of Arky with interim lame duck. Petrino was Auburn's choice once but apparently that ship has sailed... at least per Dye. Unclear also as to the relationship between CBVG and BMFP from Atlanta days. Also Joe Whitt Jr. followed Petrino from Louisville to Falcons. We know Petrino's job jumping history but little else really besides his most recent troubles which someone will choose to overlook and prosper from whereas fan interest $ at Auburn is about to take a nose dive without a drastic move to correct the problem which IMO is lack of development.
ie. Give Saban our last two recruiting classes or Petrino this offense.
Chizik had Tub holdovers and they won the lottery when they got Cam Newton for one magical season.
Tried to land Russell Wilson but in hindsight I still doubt we had the personnel to do much better than last seasons finish even with Wilson.
I only know that Auburn has recruited like never before and I see that ending badly if there is a house cleaning. I understand you never want to shackle a new hire but they have to know what a guy like Taylor and or Luper can do before they allow the next program to just pick them up. And I don't care if he can't coach as well as any of us. Like Rodney Garner he can hurt you long term as much as any perceived good coaching hire can help. Just patiently thinking aloud as a fan. Don't claim to know anything about the power structure at Auburn.

Why, obviously this all based on my opinion.
First, not a big fan of offensive minded head coaches. He reminds me of Terry Bowden redux, small fast scat backs that would get obliterated in the SEC.
I am not a spread fan, I think it is an interesting offense, but I think you have to recruit perfect players, I don't know that those players are located in the south.
They play such a different style of football, I just don't think he would be successful in the SEC. I base that decision on the fact that every time they have played an SEC team they have been beaten.
Finally, I just don't care for him. He seems like a cocky motherfucker that hasn't done shit.

Godfather when it comes right down to it ALL SEC HC's are cocky mfers. If they aren't they are bottom dwellers. Pat Dye was as cocky a sumbitch as it gets in his day, definitely no angel. That stammering poor mouth routine doesn't hold up to the hell he gave Jack Crowe and Pat Sullivan on the sidelines in front of the JH faithful and knowing a "lil bit" , nor does the story of his pants on Lake Martin.

Too bad...I prepared yesterday morning with no thought of celebration but more on the lines of WTF, Tyler Wilson is gonna make us his bitch and as it turned out it was Arky's vaunted defense that set the wheels in motion. And to think barely two years ago Auburn was the talk of all of college football, good or bad we made our mark. And today we suck as badly as I can recall since the late sixties.

Again, not advocating for him, but I'll address each point of your opinion with mine.
Bowden could only get those players, he couldn't recruit. Not sure Kelly can either, as he's only had one top 10 class the last 5 years. To that point, he's winning in a league that is not up to par with the SEC, and he's doing it without SEC level players. People always talk about "how'd he do vs the SEC?" Well whatever it was, it was with lesser players across the board. Schemes and playcalling don't win games, players do. By the way they played us pretty tight in the BCS Title game.
Agree, they do play a different style of football. That's the predominant style of football being played at High Schools, and all levels of college across the land. Bammer's pro-style attack is the exception, not the rule. Tell me they don't need a certain type player to fit that system too. Namely HUGE ATHLETIC O linemen, and big, between the tackles runners. So, you have to recruit to your system, no matter what. That said, I think people make a bigger deal about that than it really is. A good OC can fit football players in to his system in some way even if they aren't his ideal prototype. The south has every player you could possibly need or want for for any type system, and has them to spare. That said, the hardest players to find at any level are a great pro style QB, followed by big, quick, athletic linemen. And that's the biggest reasons for the proliferation of spread, no huddle offenses.
But here's what I'm getting at, because this is where we find ourselves. What would we all want first and foremost? A proven SEC HC. Well, Saban aint coming. Coach Boom isn't proven, and he's not coming even if he was. Spurrier? Too old. Miles? Clown. Richt? Can win 10, but can't win it all. James Franklin? Is he proven to be a winner with one .500 season at Vandy? Mullen? Yeah, right. Dooley? Jury still out, but might consider coming. Thought he'd be good, but he inherited a bad situation. He has shown improvement this season though. Still, can't say it would be a good move, and many would hate it. Kevin Sumlin is a proven winner, but at lower levels, and runs a Mumme/Leach/Air Raid, Spread/No Huddle. Nobody else worth mentioning. Oh, Petrino? Sorry, he A: won (10 games, no championship) with smoke and mirrors, and B: is an offensive minded HC, with, C: a shit ton of off the field baggage. Urban Meyer? Oh that would be ironic! Tuberville 2.0? Hmmmm. Does reuniting with an old flame after a bad divorce ever work?
BTDub, watching Pats vs Broncos...Pats in a hurry up, spread, no huddle.
Next move? Consider a proven SEC assistant, namely off the Saban coaching tree, or a proven HC from outside the SEC, where they all play a different brand of football, probably spread oriented, and where defense isn't a priority.
Do we hire a guy that says he'll continue the move towards a pro style type program overall, or a guy that says "I'll try to win a championship".
What about a championship level coach from FCS? There are some great coaches at those little schools. However, their job is much different than a D1 HC. They're actually still football coaches. They don't have the pressures of media, and fans. They've never had to deal with the attitudes of entitled 4 and 5 star players. Some very good football coaches at lower levels with no experience at things that can make or break a coach at this level.
I don't care what offense we run, or what it's called, so long as it scores points. Same on Def, as long as it limits points scored, or smothers opponents, and is played fundamentally sound and they fly around the football. When you take away "scheme" Chip Kelly is just the type of coach I'd like to see hired. He's won conference championships, and played for it all, and done so at a program that was nothing 20 years ago, and still plays with less than SEC level players. When you consider scheme, everybody says we've recruited to "the spread" the last 4 years, and gotten in top talent, so he should be able to come in and score a shit ton of points. But the lingering question is how long would that last in the SEC?
When I really think about it, I see what we have for product on the field, and know a change is imminent, yet there is not a coaching name that comes to mind that makes me giddy, or even confident that it would be the right move. Not a name out there that I think the majority of the fan base could get behind, but I'm convinced there needs to be a change.
-
Chip Kelley can eat a bakers' dozen dicks.
Bad coach...bad scheme for the SEC...fail all around. On the worst game that the 2010 Auburn team had...he could only muster 19 points. Fuck him.
If you can't get Patterson, you try for Petrino and you condition his hire on the hire of a top-notch DC (leave BVG in place).

Unfortunately Chuckie would never be on sale.
But y'all, think about how the media would fawn over him. Saban's sideline dickishness with a great off field demeanor. If he ever coached SEC football across the field from Saban, instead of Sportscenter, the game would be followed by the Apocalypse.

Dayum, where's the "smoke and mirrors" when you need it.
We stand a chance to get BMFP, Mike Leach or Gary Patterson if the foundation shifts.
Chuckie and Chip aren't leaving their good thing for Auburn, AL.
-
I've been on the BMFP train since the Mississippi State loss. Everyone hates us already so why not embrace it and relish playing the role as a hated school? I'd a lot rather be hated and win than hated and made fun of because we suck worse than everyone on our schedule.
Plus, I honestly think BMFP knows he screwed up royally and will really be hungry to prove that he's on the straight and narrow while taking out his frustrations on the field.

I get the whole patience thing.
But my gut feeling tells me Auburn is spiralling into football obscurity. And as I consider the events that surrounded the coup attempt on Tommy Tuberville by the PTB it only fortifies my belief that the enemy is within even though the competition is on the field.
Auburn can withstand some defeats in the coming Saturdays but someone from the top must have a similar vision, pesuasive powers and a plan to push the button or at least to be on the ready. I'm not sure what to call the current product other than stunted or defective.
I don't care what ESPN, Finebaum, Tuscaloosa, Fayetteville, or anyone else thinks. And my personal, positive view of Gene Chizik and his tenure up till now haven't changed. I like the man! But Auburn as we have heard our HC explain is bigger than any one man. In fact this job is too big for the strongest of men. So there you have it. I would like nothing more than to see Chizik right the ship, but I'm not sure the program can wait in its current state.
Desperate times call for desperate measures and it's anyone's guess which direction, if any the PTB will choose. They may or may not have rushed to judgement on Tuberville. There are varying opinions on that subject. But no one can seriously say (with any conviction) that the PTB would be putting a fine man and his family on the street when the gaudy payoff could choke an effing herd of elephants. This is strictly business as far as this outsider but lifelong fan is concerned.
The excitement of the Malzahn offense on Sportscenter followed by media frenzy of Cam Newton throughout the 2010 season and the MNC are quickly becoming a distant memory. It's time to act before Auburn becomes irrelevant as a football power altogether and finds itself so far from re-establishing itself that it simply cannot because from my perspective, it is happening as I type these last few words.

Was in Maine.
Server at one of the restaurants had lived in Decatur for a year. Said she was a Bama fan sort of because most of the people she knew were. She'd heard of Auburn but wasn't it in Georgia or Mississippi?
Guy at one of the meetings noticed the AU logo on my laptop case. Talked about various things. Mentioned my daughter was an AU grad. He says "Auburn... That's in Tennessee, right?"
-
I understood last year...to an extent. I know it became a tired excuse to keep pointing out how young we were, but it was the truth. And it was pretty evident we were going to drop off, losing that many seniors and having the early departures. What I couldn't live with was the absolute woodshed ass whippings we took at the hands of our biggest rivals. What I couldn't take was a team that gave up in most of those games. Just embarrasingly played out the string until the clock ran out. What I couldn't take was an opposing player saying publically that we did in fact, quit. That's a problem. A big one.
Fast forward to this year and it's a whole new set of problems that don't look like they're going to get better anytime soon. I said several weeks back that I had to see 2 things for me to stay with this staff. Show some improvement and most of all, fight, against LSU....and beat Arkansas. I was okay with the LSU game, but when your coach is publically apologizing to the fans after two weeks to prepare to face a team that was playing as bad as anyone on the country... 24-7??? At home???

I've decided that Chizik is a "one way" type of guy. He knows -- or thinks he knows -- one way to do things. And he doesn't deviate.
Like Saban's fucking "process" Chizik has "the blueprint." As long as everything is going well the blueprint is fine. But he's shown no ability to adapt "the blueprint" to changing circumstances. Saban's "process" is constantly evolving.
-
Making a "Splash hire" is not the Auburn way. Never has been and I doubt it ever will be. Since Shug, we've had Doug Barfield, Pat Dye, Terry Bowden, Tommy Tuberville and now Gene Chizik. Dye had coached at East Carolina and Wyoming. No one really knew anything about him when he came here. Bowden had been mighty Samford's corch. Name recognition through Diddy, but little else to suggest we hit a home run. CTT was doing a decent job with a probation riddled Ole Miss team and Gene Chizik was 5-19.
Basketball? Same way. We've had household names like Sonny Smith, Tommy Joe Eagles, Cliff Ellis, Jeff Lebo and now Tony Barbee. Baseball? Hell, I can barely think of the current corch's name right now.
There's nothing to suggest that Chizik is actually going to be run off. Jacobs doesn't have the ability to see or admit what's going on. Dye is NOT running the show and there are no more Lowders to put the hammer down. IF Chizik goes, unfortunately, I'd look for more of the same. Don't expect to see John Gruden or Jimmy Johnson or Jim Tressel or Vince Lombardi on the Auburn Coaching vacancy short list. They'll be looking at Central Michigan and Toledo for our next hire.

JMO, but it makes us look stupid to post lists with names like:
Bill Parcells
Bill Bellichek
Jon Gruden
Bill Cowher
John Madden
Sean Payton
Steve Spurrier
and the other usual suspects that get flown up the flagpole.
-
WTF makes you believe KF will be our QB next year?
Chuckie rocks.
So Clint Moseley gets to work with trips option right motion left x post z option out or up h slant choice slide call left?

That or they could just have Kiehl Fraizer run "36" over and over.

I say we hire him and Gregg Williams, give them $2 million in "Big Obfuscation UnderNeath TechnicalitY" seed money and see what happens.

Yeah, but it's so fucking hilarious, don't you think?
Uh yeah, because you left off Dick Sheridan, Dan Reeves and Pepper Rodgers.

We can laugh at the fucker all we want but he's kicking ass and taking names, and his fuckin process works. Ours doesn't. Saban has been worth every penny we made fun of them for giving him.

Really, for the most part, what people said was true. The program was so shitty that Alabama simply had to write a blank check to get somebody decent. Saban is a dick, and that was exactly what the program needed internally. Maybe some of the Shula leg humpers thought it was crazy to pay that much money, but those of us who lived in a world of reality knew it was the right move. Shit, when you look at the revenue he has generated since '07, $4 million was a bargain really.

A scary thought is that there really aren't any rock star coaches out there that look like they will be available at the end of the season either. It would be difficult to poach a guy from a team that is currently very successful and ask him to come fix whatever the fuck is wrong in Auburn. I think Saban was the exception, and Alabama caught him just at the right time. He could see that his stint in the NFL probably wasn't going to work out. He wanted to get back into CFB. Alabama basically had to swallow their pride and give him the keys to the program, give him a blank check, and probably beg and plead.
If Jay Jacobs really is as terrible as some say, I think the swallowing of the pride part will stand in Auburn's way of getting a really good coach. Another scary thought is, if AU gets another Gene Chizik, there isn't that perfect storm of senior talent and Cam Newton on the roster to make the 2010 season happen again. The good news is that if the talent really is on the roster, and it's just a matter of player development, then a good coach can do something with that IMO. If AU makes a move, they absolutely have to get it right this time.
-

And with the dumbass in charge, I don't see that happening. We've gone from a 1-2 year rebuilding plan to a 3-4 year rebuilding plan.

I'm not really worried about who may or may not be "available" if and when Chizik is shown the door with a suitcase full of $$$. As I said in another thread....maybe this one....AU has no history of signing rock star corches in any sport. If JJ is still at the helm, we'll be scouring the Ohio Valley Conference for our next los.....err, leader. Georgia State had better lock their guy down. We comin'.....

Which is why gogue has to stop the trend and clean house. Open up the check book like Bama and clear a path. Get the best damn AD and HC money can buy and quit bullshitting around with that buffoon Jacobs. If gogue can't see Jacobs is a buffoon then maybe we got issues at the very top. People bitched about lowder and wanted him gone (which he is now) but that mother fucker wouldn't have stood for this shit and would have pulled the trigger by now. Jacobs and Dye are the problem and are in the way. We've got to cut this shit off at the head. Enough pussy footing around.

I guess what I'm saying is, given AU's national exposure the past two years, you guys may have to go after a no-brainer to get things right again. Especially when considering what happened with CTT. True, Auburn usually doesn't go out and hire rock star huge name guys. But I think that is more so due to the fact that they had people in the athletic department that could pick out that under the radar type guy. It looks like that is no longer the case. I think that getting a rock star type guy would go a long way withe the fanbase as well, as far as attendance, contributions, etc.
-

The only way this and other things start to change is the (PWM) People with money start to withhold those donations. Those folks can't be happy right now.

Housel had the knack. Jacobs doesn't.
A David Housel, jay Jacobs is not.

What you're forgetting is that Mal Moore was so fucking dumb it took him several shots down the highway to even get to Saban.
At varying points he had Spurrier (allegedly) and Rodriguez (absolutely until the Finebaum callers destroyed the hire with the Mexican hat jokes and the borderline-vulgar attacks on Rod's wife) before he turned to Saban.
At the time I laughed my ass off when Rodriguez freaked over the public treatment of his wife and backed out. In retrospect? Damn. I wish they'd hired that fucker. Saban would be at Florida or Ohio State or Michigan right now.

Is that the chick who was in the booth for the AU-Arky game? She sucks.

I haven't forgotten about that. At the time, Rich Rod would have fallen into the "proven" category. I thought the folks on BOL who swore Saban was on the table were complete morons, so I could have lived with Rodriguez at the time. I'm not saying Moore was a genius by any means. He simply knew when it was time to swallow his pride and become somebody's bitch.

He has none. As big a buffoon as Jacobs is? Moore is twice that. He's just lucky.

I thought saban was first choice and initially said no interest. Then went rich rod and head ball coach before circling back around to saban with the entire bank.

I shared this with someone else last night, and upon reflection this morning, I still feel this way:
I cannot even think of anyone to replace Chiz, much less that fucktard Jacobs. We won't make a splash hire. I know Auburn will NEVER cough up Saban kind of money because our PTB do not make the football team the be all end all. Too many academic types in charge - NO FUCKING WAY do we get some kind of dictatorial asshole just because we desperately want our program to improve. We are not bammer. We don't do that. And alum won't stop buying tickets in great enough numbers to effect change. We aren't like that. We are Auburn people first and Auburn football fans second. Usually that's a good thing. Right now, that is, will and has hurt us.

I don't care if we get a "Dictator" type or not. I think too many are looking for a Lord Saybinz clone. He ain't out there. The Evil One is obviously a great corch, the best in the business right now. But that level of success has as much to do with the obsessed backing and mass selling of souls in order to win as anything else. I just want someone to right this ship and make us a consistent winner again. I want a shot at the West crown every year. If you're competing for the SEC West, you're a player on the national scene as well.
Chip Kelley has Oregon (they're just so fast) in the hunt each and every year. Mack Brown had TexASS a perennial top 10 for years. Same with Stoops at Chokelahomo. All kinds of personalities and styles out there. Plenty of good coaches that could come in here and turn it around quickly.

None of those guys you mentioned knows the first thing about coaching.

Doing a little checking after looking at the Crown games this weekend. I was surprised to see TA&M playing at La. Tech, so I pulled up the Bulldawgies site to confirm. HC Sonny Dykes has them at 5-0 and averaging over 53 points per game with Tony Freakin' Franklin running the show. Yeah, they beat Houston, Rice and UNLV...but they also hung those points on Illinois and Virginia.

The only obsessed backing and mass selling of souls that is actually required is that of the PTB. At Turd U, their PTB buy into that "win football games at any price and any cost" shit - ours do not, now that Lowder is gone. I am not saying we have to get an asshole. My point is that we won't hire an aggressive guy that will come in and tell the PTB to fuck off and stay the hell out of his program. Not only will we not pay enough to attract that kind of coach, our PTB would never relinquish that kind of control.

But we should. Ridding of Jj and dye would be a good start. Jj is a puppet and cgc is his yes man.
-
If you're already going to have to fork out $7M for a buyout, why not mortgage the farm and spend $4M to get a big splash coarch like a Brian Kelly or Bob Stoops?

We wouldn't have issue with that as fans. Even most of the ptb wouldn't. But Jj and a few of the ptb would have issue with it. Because they would rather have a yes man as hc and stroke their own egos. The hiring of cgc was proof of that. Rid of Jj and things may be able to happen.
-

I agree with both of you - but again, I am calling them like I see them. What do you have to look at historically that leads you to believe Auburn's power barons will ever concede to selling their souls and opening their wallets to get a fucking fabulous HC and AD? We got no precedent for that.
The harsh reality of big time college football these days is dropping the bucks for the man. And we are still stuck in the 80s and 90s when it comes to hiring coaches. There won't be an Urban Meyer out of Utah or a Kevin Sumlin out of Houston. There will be another Turner Gill out of Buffalo.
It's not just JJ's ego. He does not have carte blanche to run the AD. And Pat Dye has NOTHING to do with any of this. Lay off.
-
Why would it be so hard to punt Jacobs when the OVERALL athletic program....that he's responsible for, is sucking a big bag of dicks?
-
you gotsta be kidding? You have been listening to way TOO many inbreds about this.
You obviously haven't read the last 2 days posts I've made concerning Dye and his reach. Even responded to el guapo in one thread. There's a context to it. I've repeated that dye doesn't have the active power many think he has but Jj does listen to him. I listen to no inbreds and know some of this personally. Dye is that one drop of poison in the bucket of water that can make the whole thing bad. An ingrown hair in the ass.
-

We need to get Tim Cook to be our Phil Knight. As much as I hate the man, he keeps Kelly happy.
If Tim Cook was involved, JJ could be GONE tomorrow. I am sure there is an App for that.

Jj listens to dye more than he should. Many have issue with that.
Before, Lowder was always a convenient PTB to blame. Now who? Sometimes it isn't always the ptb but I do know we have a buffoon running the AD. Not just a bad football program but the entire AD is crap.

Whether it's JJ decisions, or Dye's, JJ is influenced heavily by the man he played for.

Honestly, I don't expect that situation to change as long as Dye is alive. Jacobs, or whoever it is, it will be someone Dye can influence. Still, Dye, and JJ want a winning program, and they have to see what's going on isn't getting us near that.

As kaos said yesterday, JJ's own ego is more important to him. That's what that buyout was all about. Fucker is touched. It hasn't bothered him any that the entire AD is shit and has been for a while. Nothing leads me to believe he can fix. Or he wouldve already by now. Running Marsh off just really griped my ass. And was another situation where it was all about his ego.
