AUBURN, Alabama --The long, curly mane that has been coming out the back of Jake Holland's helmet for a couple of years is gone now.
Holland came back from the bye week sporting a much shorter hair style, the product of a decision to finally end an agreement that started freshman year.
"Trent Fisher and I decided that we would change it up a little bit, grow our hair out for a year," Holland said. "Long story short, it ended up being a little over two and a half years that we grew out our hair."
Beyond feeling a lot lighter -- he said the hair probably weighs three or four pounds --Holland's agreement with Fisher will be used to help somebody in need. Holland grew his hair long enough to meet the requirements necessary to donate his shorn locks to a charity like Locks of Love, an organization that provides wigs to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
He hasn't picked a specific charity yet, but now that Holland's hair is short, he's ready to hand it off.
"That's what I did this weekend, cut it off, and I'm going with a different look now," Holland said.

Positives: Of course it's donating the locks to charity, but also now he'll be quicker getting to the pile.
Negative: He'll get dragged for a couple more yards since he'll be 3 to 4lbs lighter.
