just not a very good quarterback. (He says, shuffling his feet, staring down at the floor.) copypasta teh Eagle
AUBURN – Auburn quarterback Kiehl Frazier hears it as he walks around campus. He can’t escape it when he ducks into classrooms.
Auburn fans are disgruntled – with their team, with their quarterback, with everything. The Tigers 1-3 start, the first three-loss September in program history, tasted as sweet as battery acid.
They’ve made little effort to hide their displeasure.
It’s hard for Frazier to disagree. He’s frustrated, too.
“People say this and that,†Frazier said, “but I don’t really take it personally. Winning, that’s the expectation at Auburn. And if you don’t do that, people will be talking about it.
“So, I mean, right now we’re 1-3. So there’s a lot of people off the bandwagon, but if we do what we need to do these next couple games, then people will get back on.â€
Frazier came to Auburn from Shiloh Christian (Ark.) High as the 2010 Gatorade National Player of the Year. Seven interceptions, nine turnovers and two touchdowns through his first four starts have made that a distant memory.
It’s been a learning process for the sophomore quarterback. Pinpointing an answer has proved difficult.
“I definitely didn’t expect to have seven interceptions through four games, but that’s just something I’ve got to work on, decision making,†Frazier said. “That was the first four games that I’ve started, and I know definitely that won’t happen – the next four games, I definitely won’t have seven picks. That’s for sure.â€
Frazier has had time – and ample patience from coaches – to develop.
On the surface, it would seem true freshman Jonathan Wallace is hot on Frazier’s heels. The former Central star entered a game for the first time Saturday against No. 2 LSU, playing the Wildcat quarterback role Frazier held last season.
Auburn coach Gene Chizik said the freshman’s role could expand – with Wallace playing anywhere from zero to 20 snaps – but it won’t change. He’s the No. 3 quarterback, a change-of-pace option who will mostly run the football.
And he’s stuck behind Frazier and backup Clint Moseley.
“The difference is that you're able to really take a guy and work on that small portion of the game, to try to really master that and the comfort level that he's got doing it,†Chizik said, explaining why Wallace will stay in the Wildcat role.
Chizik said he’s pleased with Frazier’s attitude. All season, the sophomore has shown a stand-up-and-take-responsibility perspective.
Sometimes, he takes it too far.
There’s a reason his critics don’t get to him. His standards are higher than anyone else’s could ever be. After laying a dud at Mississippi State – with five turnovers and zero touchdowns – Frazier said he made mistakes on 75 percent of plays.
Chizik said the assertion was preposterous.
It’s been like that every week – the bad outweighing the good in Frazier’s mind, a youngster beating himself up mentally.
“I think he's very tough on himself,†Chizik said. “When you're a quarterback and you're a competitor, you're probably your biggest critic. I think Kiehl knows and he sees that there's a lot of improvement left out there for him as well, but he's a competitor.
“At times he’s doing some better things and at times he’s reverting back to some things that he still needs to improve on. He’s got to get back there, he’s got to set his feet, he’s got to make a decision, throw the ball. There’s obviously a lot of room for improvement as well but he did some nice things too. It’s a journey and it’s one that he’s got to continue to grow.â€
-
“So, I mean, right now we’re 1-3. So there’s a lot of people off the bandwagon, but if we do what we need to do these next couple games, then people will get back on.â€
I HATE this shit. That to me is the difference between us an a lot of other programs. We do not have the immense number of bandwagon jumpers that other programs do.

Hot Corner: Time to bench Kiehl Frazier
By Will Grant -- The Birmingham News
When looking at the Auburn football team's 1-3 start, everyone but the most diehard of fans has to realize that this season has been a disaster. And, it appears things very well could get worse.
But there is a way for Gene Chizik and the Auburn program to salvage this season. Ditch Kiehl Frazier as the starting quarÂterback and give Jonathan Wallace the keys to the Tigers' offense.
It is obvious to me that Frazier is not going to be able fix his problems in time to turn this year around for the Tigers. Seven interceptions, nine turnovers and just two touchdowns through four games are not the numbers you want to see from your starting quarterback.
And I don't care what any coaches or fans want to say about giving the sophomore time to develop. The team has been more than patient with Frazier. Inexperience or not, it has become glaringly apparent that he's just not capable of running Scot LoefflÂer's pro-style offense. The Gus Malzahn reÂcruit was not designed for this offense and it shows.
In the LSU game, Auburn's offensive line gave Frazier plenty of time in the pocket to make reads and complete passes. UnfortuÂnately, he was unable to perform those tasks. The quarterback is too focused on a single receiver and tends to hold on to the football way too long.
Go back and watch Auburn's last drive against LSU if you don't believe me. It is an example of poor game management.
Bottom line. There needs to be a change at quarterback. With Wallace's redshirt burned, it is time to see what he can do. Frazier is a lost cause and the Auburn coaching staff needs to realize it.
Auburn needs to look toward the future and that future should rest in Wallace's hands.
-
So, this guy sees Wallace come in and run a few wildcat plays....just like Frayzha did last year...and he's the future? He got all that from 3-4 plays Wallace ran?
I'm in no way defending Frazzers. His numbers and actions on the field speak for themselves. But, Gene Chizik and Scott Loeffler and all these corches do this for a living. And especially right now when things are sucking this bad and their very livelihoods depend on playing the best at each position, what does that tell you about what's going on behind Kyles? Clint Moseley has half a season's starting experience. While overall, he sucked monkey cock, he did show in a couple of games that he could conduct himself in a non-full-tard manner. Why has he not set foot on the field? Hurt? What is it?
Behind that is Wallace. True freshman that was known far more for his running than passing in H.S. Good athlete. But if he really looked like he could do more gooder than Fraithser, wouldn't the coaches have tried him by now? Maybe by giving him some reps on a huge stage like this past Saturday night, they intend on working him in little by little until they feel good about pulling the plug on Kile. Don't know. But right now, he's all we got.
-
Yeah...that's going to fix it! Give the keys to a guy that hasn't thrown a pass in a game yet.
:brilliant:
-
Maybe not bench, but next start he should have a very short leash. And JW & CM should have plenty of reps with the first team these two weeks.
-
Not worth commenting. Someone take that guy's keyboard away.
I will say this. JW looks a shiton better that frazzle did last season, coming in and running the ball. he has a lot more quicks and hits the hole faster. If he can complete a few, he can be an added weapon.
I would surmise that as this time his knowledge of the playbook is very limited.

This is where I am at except for one thing. We are 1-3. Offense is ranked 113 out of 120. Passing Offense is 115 /120. Does it really matter?
I mean not to rehash but think about this. We got two turnovers against LSU that turned into scoring opportunities. Other than that did we ever even sniff their red zone?
I'm not saying he is the answer, but he might be worth leaving in for a series or two.

I would think that too, but Phillip Marshall was talking before the season about how well he grasping the playbook and the coaches were bragging on how well he was doing, he knew the playbook. Marshall even suggested at one point that he was right in the mix of the QB battle before they announced Fraiser as the starter. I don't know. I am with GF though, I would like to see him get a series or two.

Yuma Truck Driving School was ranked 110 in Total Offense...just saying.
-
Know the playbook???? We only run 4 plays. He can't remember those?
-
Just some other FUN facts.
We are 112 in scoring offense. We avg 17.50 points per game.
We are 113 in passing efficiency with a rating of 102.82
We are tied for #2 in turnovers....lost with 12.
I would tell you where Frazier ranked individually for Passing, Passing Efficiency, and Passing Yards per Game, but the NCAA only keeps individual statistics for the top 100 QBs in the Nation. Farzier wasn't listed anywhere.
Some QB's that were however.
#13 Steele Jantz Iowa St.
#20 David Fales San Jose St.
#30 Nick Sherry UNLV (freshman)
#73 Kawaun Jakes Western Ky.
#85 Graham Wilbert Fla. Atlantic

Most of the time, it's hard to tell AU's offense apart from last year's. Looks like the same damn plays for the most part.

Um, no. I think this is a bad idea. Not saying Frazier is good, but we could go from bad to fucking terrible if they were to bench Frazier.

Plus after making a mistake (like the INT against ULM) he has shown that he cannot shake it off. He absolutely fell apart in the 4th quarter against ULM. Can you imagine what he would be like if we benched him and then had to put him back out there?

They could shake him up enough for him to pull his head out of his ass. It is a gamble either way.

If only getting to play 3 plays at a time for 4 games now hasn't woken him up I'm not sure making him sit would either.

The boldened is the problem. We tried that shit with Kodi. Cluster to the fuck. We tried that shit with Frazier. Fuckle to the stick. So now we're going to do the same fucking thing with Wallace?
Can I just say "trend." And not a good one.

Although the sound off opinion is fucking moronic, simply because 9 out of 10 of them are, I agree with this take. What could it hurt? Just bench Frazier, and make Wallace the starter? No. Give Wallace a decent package of plays and a couple or three series? Hells to the yes.
