Title: Putcher High School Foosballz Here
Post by: Snaggletiger on September 19, 2012, 04:34:58 PM
I normally catch a high school game here locally just about every week.  This year has been different as I've had some kind of conflict every weekend.  This week looks like a big pile of steamy possum turds as far as match ups around here, but I'm going to pick one and go anyway.  The 2 6A squads, Dothan (Kamryn Melton..AU commit) and Northview (Marquez White...FSU commit) are both going to be over in the Baldwin/Mobile County areas since they realigned the regions this year.  Dumb as fruck to travel all the way across the State for region games, but....

Anyway, has anybody checked out your local teams?  Plans on going?  Any D1 college prospects in your area?  I'm dying to get back out to Houston and check out some high school foosballz there.  One hell of an event. I'll be sitting in the stands at some game Friday with a big ole bag of boiled peanuts.  GH, you been to Central yet?

In Birmingham there are a bunch of shitty teams, so I guess that means there could be some future Auburn Tigers playing.

The Birmingham, Fairfield, and Bessemer School systems are fucking loaded with raw talent playing in fucked up programs with no discipline or coaching.

Cameron Frazier is the only surefire top notch D-1 guy I know that Central PC has this year. He is committed to South Florida. They had two last year with Wallace and his best WR. Year before that, their RB was Orwin Smith who now starts at Ga Tech. They looked good the first two games beating a ranked Carver Montgomery but looked to have a bad hangover last week in Opelika. They harassed J. Johnson pretty good in that Carver game as Carver only scored 14.

I find Central's best prospect's name ironic. Think about it.

Not really the right forum but quick update on 2 Auburn verbals.  6'1" 210 lb running back, Jordan Wilkins has 476 yards in 3 games on 69 carries.  7 TD's and a little over 6 yards a pop.  Couldn't get season stats on Pinson Valley WR Earnest Robinson but this past Saturday, he had 6 catches for 163 yards in a loss to Walker H.S.

I will be watching River Ridge High school in Woodstock, GA. They have yet to win a game, but against Lafayette, they may stand a chance. My son will be on the sidelines, but due to transfer will be ineligible. Hopefully next year he will contribute.

Normally I watch Etowah play in Woodstock (where my son xfer from) but their QB blew his knee out again and is gone for the year.

Tis a far cry from the Prattville football I grew up with!

Not this year...

Or should I say...not when they aren't cheating and recruiting players illegally...

Going to watch Rehobeth and Marbury.  Two Care Bears pillow fighting, but it'll be football.  Marbury must have really picked up enrollment because years ago they used to be 1 or 2A.  They're in a 5A region now and like Rehobeth, getting their colective shit pushed in every week.  I think Stanhope Elmore hung about 52 on em' first week.

Keeping up? Bypassing.

And since recruiting is illegal at the high school level, isn't "recruiting players illegally" one them English no-nos?

If you have a good program and  a great city, you don't have to recruit. And MANY of their stars are home grown. I went to school with a lot of parents of the stars. Only a small fraction are transfers over the years.

But I do think Alabama has changed the rules on transfers so that it is much tighter than it used to be.

Hoover recruits, and sets up "living situations" for kids and their parents.

Football is football, although I've seen some bad HS football a couple of weeks this season.  Still, it's fun.  I think Marbury is getting spillover from Prattville, or benefiting from Prattville's growth.

Rehobeth is in a similar situation from the standpoint that it's a little country school just outside of Dothan.  Over the years, there's been a ton of white flight from the public schools and Rehobeth got a huge spike in enrollment.  They went from an average 3A school to 5A and they're badly overmatched just about every time they step on the field.  They won 2 games last year...which was up 2 from the year before.  0-3 so far in 2012.

The positives are they built a new school and new, kick ass stadium along with a field house.  Great facilities but no athletes.  The troof of the matter is they have very few black kids.  There are no projects or neighborhoods to pull from.  They'll have 4-5 black kids on the team and 50 slow ass country white boys.  Does not bode well when going up against the Erique Florence's and Jawara Whites of the world.  It is what it is.

New stadium here in the Dallas area (north of) Directly under the field in an indoor golf range and baseball training-with weight room. 60 mil

Edit- Just noticed the trees-There aren't that many in Texas.

As I said earlier, I'm ready to get back out to Houston for a lot of reasons but also to take in a HS game.  I'd always heard about it but damn, they're serious about HS foosballz in Texas.  The stadium I went to for a Woodlands HS game wasn't nearly that incredible but it probably held 30K plus.. a jumbotron in the endzone.  The bands were as big as any college band I've seen.  Now, let me contradict myself because The Woodlands probably dressed out 90 kids.  Maybe 2 blacks.  And they kicked some major assage.  I honestly don't know if they could hang with a Prattville or Hoover in their stacked years, but they were damn impressive to watch.

Bumpity Bump

Friday night football....ugh!!!  Left at half.

A couple of updates for the wrong forum...but I don't care.  I dare a mod to lock this bitch down.

RB Jordan Wilkins combined for 336 yards this past Friday.  224 rushing with TD runs of 48, 9, 18 & 18.  112 yards receiving with 2 TD's.  Got it off his twatter account and there's a pic of him standing there shirtless with his girlfriend.  Now, I'm not a gay man but.....

QB Jeremy Johnson of Carver-Montgomery was 14-19 301 yards and 3 TD's with 1 INT in a 47-27 win over Opelika.  Long TD pass of 66 yards.

Input.  In the next few weeks, the 6A teams that will be in our area to play are Baldwin County, Daphne, Walton County (Florida) and Prattville.  Anyone know anything about those teams?  Any D1 studs to watch for?  K, I know a couple of those are from your neck of the woods.  Wes, what about Walton?  You follow it..or care?

Did the 6A region around here change? Must have changed. I see no northview or Dothan on central pc's schedule. Although they have picked up Stanhope and Jeff Davis. Also played re lee last week too at cramton. I guess I missed the memo.

Funny that central pc thrashed carver mont.

Carver mont killed Opelika

Opelika killed central pc

So much for matchup logic.

Yeah, the changes makes no sense, at least as far as the 6A region down here.  They basically made this region the southern most portion of the State....all the way across.  So Dothan and Northview and Enterprise are traveling from one corner of the State to the other several times to play region games.

Same thing here. They put Pell City in the same region as the Huntsville schools. Now, instead of getting our assessing whipped in Birmingham, we have to drive 100 miles to get it done.

Or whatever.  I just wanted to contribute to this thread.
