Let's say the worst does happen and Chizik can't unfuck this situation. Because it is fucked from hell to breakfast right now. You ask me, it's fucked every bit as bad as it was in 1998 and worse than 2008. We're talking 1980 fucked.
Here's the problem with that issue. Who's making the decision? If there is a change to be made (not saying there should or would be) who is making that change?
You guessed it.

Here's the Grim Reality and everyone wanting to fire people after this season, better fuckin read every God Damn word of this ($1 to someone from Scout)
Some of the posts on here over the last three weeks make it appear that the average poster must not have seen much Auburn football. Maybe they have seen it all but don't necessarily recall it? Maybe the average age on here is much lower than we think?
Just looking at the last 20 years or so....do you recall seeing Brandon Cox in his early starts? Remember Georgia Tech and the disaster that was? I am sure he does - with something like three INTs and a fumble. What about Ben Leard vs. Virginia? Three turnovers on 11-25 passing? Anybody? I can recall seeing Patrick Nix look horrible and the offense going nowhere, so we bring in Dameyune Craig to save the day and he looks just as bad. Some of the same people who are throwing Kiehl Frazier under the bus for his poor play also wanted to discard Jason Campbell in his early years. Campbell's mother even stopped coming to the games because the criticism was so harsh (and his play was so poor). Remember Campbell battling Cobb for playing time? I'm talking about that guy, not the one most people now remember for 2004.
And that is the point. All of these guys brought us some great moments as QBs at AU. They were record setting QBs. Winners. Nix to Sanders and the win over #1 UF at the swamp. That winning streak. Leard to Daniels at UGA. Dameyune putting that '97 team on his back and carrying them all the way to Atlanta. Cox to Aromashodu in Athens. Campbell to Courtney Taylor for that conversion, and then again for the TD vs LSU. He played about as well at the QB position in 2004 as I had ever seen...until 2010. Same kid who was battling Daniel Cobb for playing time earlier in his career. These are the same kids who struggled early in their career.
Do you think it is just coincidence that Auburn's last three undefeated seasons (all in the last 19 years - no program in college football has more during this time) have come with experienced QBs at the helm? SENIOR Quarterback Stan White in 1993, SENIOR quarterback Jason Campbell in 2004 and JUNIOR quarterback Cameron Newton in 2010.
If the experienced Kiehl Frazier was our starting QB this year we would likely be 3-0, and about half of the questions being raised right now about the QB position, offense, OC, defense and head coach would be non-existent. I can say this because solid play at the QB position can mask the type of deficiencies that exist on any team - on offense and defense. And a QB playing poorly can cause these areas to appear much worse than they are.
Why did these QBs not play as well in their early starts? They have told us.
- They put too much pressure on themselves to live up to either the hype, the expectations or both. - It took time to learn to trust their OL and stand comfortably in the pocket without dancing. - They spent most of their time looking at the oncoming rush and trying to avoid it and taking just a quick glance at their first couple of receiver options, instead of taking just a quick glance at the rush and surveying the field for that receiver who is about to come open. - The game moves 100 miles an hour when you are inexperienced, but really begins to slow down for you once you have been through it a number of times. - They watched he rush in their early starts and learned to FEEL the rush as they gained more experience. - They found it more difficult to lead as a young player than after they were more established.
These are things that come quickly for some, but take time for most. The exceptions you see are usually guys who are surrounded by experienced players or they walk into a college system that is very similar to the one they ran in high school. Stan White is an Auburn QB who played some games as a redshirt freshman that made him look like he was ready for the big time, but even he ran into difficulty when the pieces around him weren't in place. A strong running game is a huge boost for a young QB, and we may have that at some point this season, but three freshman and a sophomore on the OL is not usually a recipe for consistency.
I'm just asking you to not discard everything that has been built largely because we have a QB who is trying to grow up. That's what happens in college ball. Guys move on and young guys get their shot. You don't have a Montana, Elway, Marino or Favre who you can sign to a lifetime contract. Frazier has all the tools to get the job done, which is why I think he will be no different than the other QBs I have mentioned from over the last 20 years. If his journey at AU is anything like these other QBs -and I see no reason to expect any different - I can't wait to see what he will accomplish.
-
Didn't finish reading that drivel.
Brandon Cox finished the Georgia Tech game with 342 yards and 2 touchdowns and four interceptions.
He followed that with a good game against Miss State going 12/18 for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zero interceptions.
He followed that with a good game against our cupcake team that year, Ball State, going 16/19 for 171 yards and 1 touchdown. Zero interceptions.
-
It's not just the QB that sux. That piece is a :wartim: hack job. "This QB sucks because he young and we've had others same same, and that's the whole problem." Whore shit. He's one problem out of many.

Whoever wrote that can kiss my ass. I'm no fan of the "fire everybody" wailing, but I'm even more disgusted by the blindly loyal fucksticks who can't see what's plainly in front of their face. To put it in plain terms like somebody else did, this isn't about loving Auburn. We all love Auburn. Just like we love our kids. Sometimes we have to make hard decisions when our kids are acting a damn fool. There's no excuse for the mess we are currently in. If it were one thing? No problem. But it's everything. It's transfers. It's suspensions. It's arrests. It's poor prep. It's piss poor performance.
But let's address this damn fool's premise. (And if you paid $1 for it Prowler, you got fucked. Ask for your money back).
I watched my first Auburn game before KISS was Wicked Lester. Stan White, Ben Leard, Jason Campbell, Dameyune, Pat Washington, Jeff Burger, Brandon Cox, Daniel Cobb, Reggie Slack or Pat Nix ever looked as consistently bad as Frazier.
I've seen one -- ONE -- quarterback play as god awfully shit poor as Frazier in all that time. His name was Jeff Klein and he only sucked for one game.
Ben Leard had been injured the week before against Ole Miss and Klein got the call at Tennessee. He struggled badly that night in Rocky Top.

Watch a little. The absolute worst quarterback performance that's seared into my memory is a hundred times better than anything Frazier has shown over three games.
Worst QB I can remember is Gabe Gross. I'd take his daughter (if he has one) over Frazier right now.
-
I can't imagine how bad you think Moseley is if you won't even mention him among Auburn's worst quarterbacks.

Blocked from my memory. Should have amended that above to include Moseley.
My God, Trotter at his first half Florida worst looks like a Heisman candidate compared to most of what we've seen from Cocoa Puff.

I was in K'ville for that game. Sucked.
My first AU game, in person, was 1982 when Tom Osborne brought Turner Gill, and Mike Rozier to town. My father was no football fan either way growing up, and I was one of those, by default kids, that cheered for bammer because everyone else did...until that day. My best bud was a double Auburn legacy and took me. Auburn's football team got waxed that day, but I was a fan and lover of Auburn from then on. Always will be.
-
Prowler, your assine assertion that those of us questioning what is wrong with Auburn football right now are not "patient" "virtuous" or "real Auburn fans" is total Bammerism on your part.
This is what I can't stand about the :wartim: crowd when you criticize anything. They claim you aren't "Auburn men/women" wave the Creed around like a battle flag, and tell everyone in their loudest Kevin Bacon voice that ALL IS WELL when it clearly is not.

I was there too.
Played their guts out for three quarters. We had chances but just kept fumbling drives away.
When Nebraska went up 21-7 to start the fourth I left the game. For the first time ever and the last time I ever will, I left. The girl I was with wanted to go and there was sweaty, slightly inebriated puss coming to make the pain go away. So I left.
When I got to my beautiful Mustang (loved that car and miss it badly) it was 41-7. Those cocksuckers ran up the score. Pissed me off so bad I almost blew the puss chances by being mad.

If our QB was the ONLY problem, if the defense or the rest of the offense even showed a glimmer of hope and steady improvement game to game, then hell yeah, bring on the Kool Aid.
I am all about giving a kid a chance to develop. But like someone else said, the BASIC FUNDAMENTALS are SHIT. For example - Tackling. Oh my LORD - if BVG was the defensive god we had hoped, seems to me that is all he would be working on - all the new schemes in the world are USELESS if they cannot fucking tackle. If this is a rebuilding year, then rebuild from the ground up by teaching some gorram fundamentals.

It's my belief that BVG and Loeffler are working with chicken shit. Hard for them to make it chicken salad. I don't blame them at all. These problems were manifesting before they got here. These issues come from the top down. Both of these coordinators have inherited players that are OBVIOUSLY under developed. The players we have out there are still in high school.

I know - I am just pointing out that you cannot build a mansion if the foundation is full of cracks. BVG needs to start over. "This is a football. If a guy from the other team is running with the football, you need to hit him. That hit is called a tackle. This is what a tackle looks like...".
I have faith that CBVG and CSL can install their schemes with time, but my argument is that they need to LITERALLY build from the ground up here, and it seems as tho they are assuming the kids already know this stuff. Now that it is OBVIOUS that they don't, some retrenchment is needed.
And that is yet another indictment of this program, that these kids have come this far into a major football team and do not yet understand the absolute basics of football. My son's5-6 y/o little league team is not about turning the 6-4-3 double play - but it is all about proper stance at the plate, throwing to first, proper approach to a fly ball, or a grounder... FUNDAMENTALS.
-
BTW this whole scheme bullshit, is just another fucking excuse. Good coaches know how to take the players they have and make winners or at least improvements.

BVG has proven he can do that, the jury is still out on Loeffler. Tend to agree with GH, and my skreetz bud...just no talent across the board, whether it's a product of never having talent in the first place, or a failure to bring that raw HS talent up to SEC level, it's just not there. 4 years in, that's on Chizik.

Who remembers Dye's first season? 5-6. Losing season.
But we fought our ass off. I watched that team spit teeth. I watched it hate to lose so badly that you could see each individual soul being torn apart after each loss.
And I don't think I've ever loved an Auburn team more. It wasn't the most talented, it struggled at times to get in the right places but I could feel what was coming. Those guys were a foundation. They took their beatings to make sure that those who came after would learn from their heartache, from their faith and from their dedication. We didn't have a quarterback. Ken Hobby, Clayton Beauford, Charlie Thomas, John Murphy and Joe Sullivan had uniforms but none of them were the answer. So we played whoever might have a chance on any given day.
I can handle losing. I can handle rebuilding. I can handle taking our lumps on the way to something bigger and better.
I don't get that feeling right now. Chicken fucking a soup can.
That 1981 team never embarrassed itself. If you did beat it, you knew you'd worked to get there. You'd paid the price for that win.
What did it feel like to see the ULM bench laughing and mocking this team? What did it feel like when SAMFORD players said we were pussies?
FWIW? In 1982 Dye took a fifth-string receiver who'd played QB in high school and gave him a chance to win the QB job. He did. The rest is legend.

People got the same feeling in 99 too. You can feel it when a team is about to turn the corner, when the attitude has changed, and this team isn't that type team. They're fucking lost. Going through the motions. Year 4 shouldn't be rebuilding.

It can be but only if you see where something is going.
This is essentially the same shit we saw a year ago. Same basic defensive schemes, same lack of production out of the linebackers, same abysmal offensive execution, same poorly prepared quarterback.
The only difference between this season and last? A successful onsides kick and a goal-line stop as the clock ran out. (And the ability of Trotter to move the chains).

I understood why year 3 was rebuilding. You can scoff at the Tubs recruiting lapse being an excuse, but it was true. There's no improvement in this team from last year's, none.

I feel we are about to turn a corner and head in the wrong direction. The coaches lose this team if we get beaten badly by LSU and then turn around and the same thing happen with Arky. Watching other teams (onTV) they seem faster, stronger and better coached. I think I counted at least 14 times when our defense was still moving around as the ball was snapped and we had people out of position.

Don't even get me started on the coaching staff not knowing it was not 4th down but actually 1st down. (right before sideline warning)

I put some of them blame on that one on the Ref. I swear I saw him signal 4th down-Look at the ball and the sticks and change it to 1st down. He should have went to both sidelines and told them the change.

Was listening to Stan Whit and Rod, they also thought it was 4th down. That's because the refs called for 4th down and then changed it to 1st.

Bad play call for us-we started on the other end (Wood field and Donahue) make the trek to the stadium and then over to AWK. It felt like a triple reverse with a busted play and you keep running backwards.
And after all that we only had time for one freaking beer. I gonna make up some beer drinking in Oct.

We got started too late. Early games suck. Not enough time to do everything. But at least AWK gave us all a beer for the effort! #winning
