Penn State drops ‘Sweet Caroline’ song from football game playlist

Jerry Sandusky, Penn State, Penn State Nittany Lions | Comments

Penn State will no longer play “Sweet Caroline” at games, and reports say some of the lyrics in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal could have been a factor.

Penn State said Monday it would no longer use the popular Neil Diamond song “Sweet Caroline” in its gameday playlist this football season, but some confusion remains over why the university dropped the song.

The Altoona Mirror’s Steve Sampsell and Walt Frank reported Monday that the school cut the song because of the way some of its lyrics could be construed in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant coach, was convicted in June on 45 of 48 counts of sexually assaulting young boys.

From the report:

Some concerns by university officials about its lyrics – “touching you touching me” – and the perception of people singing along to them in light of the recent scandal have been expressed.

But university spokesman David La Torre and another university official told ESPN.com’s Josh Moyer later Monday that the elimination of “Sweet Caroline” has nothing to do with the lyrics.

The whole crowd singing "touching you, touching me" and then realizing what they just said with the look on their faces would be priceless.

I would contend that AC/DC was the best thing that happened to Mutt Lange (well them and and Shania Twain).  You can listen to their prior to Highwell to Hell and tell they already had their shit together.

Agreed.  I had all the early stuff but what Lange did for them and Def Leppard, was gave them a fuller, more bass driven sound.  Made their stuff a good bit more mainstream.  Both bands had a very raw sound early on.

Well it is feasible for "touching you touching me" to happen IN the shower. Ammarite?

Me touching me happened alot in the shower when I was around 10 and then again right after I got married.

I remember-I use to practice all the time. I was hoping as a youth that it would become an Olympic event, I would win Gold-Silver and Bronze for that one event.

Speaking of the fap fap, I grew up next to a family that had 4 kids, 2 of which were brothers right around my age.  These folks were the Klumps.  Never a dull moment.  If I was bored on a summer afternoon, I'd go over there just to sit and watch for entertainment.  I'd walk in...dad (Who looked like Mr. Spacely of Spacely's Sprockets) would say, "What the hell do you want?  Don't expect me to feed you." Great.  How are you, Mr. Dunbar?

Anyway, one day I'm sitting there watching all the commotion when big ole Mama Dunbar comes storming into the den with some laundry.  ""David, what the hell is this?  You sick bastard, why would you do this?"

Long story short, he was wacking off into his socks.  He'd sock up and fap.  I laffed my ass off.

He was doing it all wrong. You never use your own sock as a catch rag; you use one of your sisters socks, fold it back with its mate when you're done ,and then put it back in her sock drawer.
