I know some of you miscreants are going to the ATL. Lucky bastages. It's also Labor Day weekend so there probably will be some travel going on. Not for Dr. Snags. Been craving the wings and beer and been holding off for the first foosballz Saturday of the year. So Saturday morning, it's run a few errands while the drumettes are marinating. Come home and grill up a few dozen of the tasty little bird parts. Start drinking ice cold beer about 11:00 and watch football all day leading up to the real game time. Have as many people over that can make it and hollah for the orange and blue.
Getting a new, much bigger TV for the back porch tomorrow night so this weekend's viewing, drinking and grilling should be greatly enhanced. What's your plans? GF, you got your AU club going again?
-
Going to friend's earlier in the day. Probably going to eat Saws BBQ in Homewood three times.
-
Having my dad and his “Girlfriend†come up from Ft. worth (I am making them spend the night) plus some local friends come over. Gonna go to Cain’s chicken and get a spread that should cover about 10 people. (I expect people from the neighborhood will come over) as they always do. Victory beer in Fridge is Whogarden :bar:. Blue moon during the game :bar:.
-
GF, you got your AU club going again?
Absatootly...will head over to the bar around 6pm. So far we got a good head count prolly around 40-50 of da Fambly.
:aubie:
Course I will be texting you miscreants...well those man enough to accept the challenge.
-
Leaving with my pops and little Buzz for the ATL around lunch time.
-
Gonna throw on a couple of slabs of ribs and some chicken thighs. Start drinking teh burrbinzz around 5:00'ish. I will switch over to Bell's Two Hearted Ale during the game unless something goes horribly wrong then I will hit teh burrbinzz all night and not remember anything until I wake up the next morning.

This sounds like a well thought out plan of action.
To back up a couple of nights, I'm going to a high school football game Thursday. I know it's the opener with The Penis/Dores matchup and I'd normally watch it just because it's college foosballz. But I can't think of two SEC teams I care less about. No offense VV but I can't bring myself to sit and watch those two for more than 20 minutes without going full comatose. Friday night (In this case, Thursday night) high school football is a tradition for me.

You are the X Dothan recruiting correspondent.
BTW hows that story coming for the front page?
-
Gotta coach football at 11:00 and daughter cheers at 1:00 so I'll be hot, tired and ready for a cold one by game time.

Dismukes got drunk and changed everything.
On the recruiting, we actually have a few legit prospects down in this area, which is highly unusual. HS football has sucked in the Wiregrass for years with regard to upper tier D1 players. Josh Williford, starting guard at LSU, is about the only one that's come out of here in recent years. But AU commit, Kamryn Melton is at Dothan High and another DB with Northview, Marquez White, has committed to FSU with Lord Saybinz trying to go in his/the back door.

Gotta' find a new season flag for the back of the house. (Can see it from the main road) Mama Snags is working on two new AU wreaths for the front doors. I didn't do a flag last year. In 2010, I had one of those free standing, tall, skinny AU flags and it brought us a MNC. Gots to bring the mojo back for 2012.
Question. Do you buy a new game day shirt and/or cap for each season? I do and already got both. Made the mistake in 05' and wore the undefeated 04' game day shirt to the first game. I take full responsibility for that screwed up season. Bad mojo.

Yep!!

I used to, although I have so many, and the new ones look like shit.

Found a vintage net cap at Anders a couple of weeks back. I was pumped at the time but not so sure about it now. Not normally into the net look. I'll give it Clemson. If it doesn't win for us, I'm burning it. If we kick some purple tiger arse, it's certified.

Normally no offense would be taken when it comes to shitting on Vanderbilt football, but how in the Tuscaloosa could you state that you somehow care more about Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Alabama THE GREATEST TEAM EVER than South Carolina and Vanderbilt?
I am deeply offended. So much so that I retract all previous offers of sexual gratification and pole dancing.

Yes. New gear every season.
Some hats are retired. (My grey UnderArmour one from 2010, I love that hat and wish I could find another one).
Some are blackballed and can never be worn again, ever. (Orange UA hat that read Auburn Football I got in 2008)
Some I wear after the season. If it's one like last year where some was good and some was meh and some sucked I don't blame the headgear and it survives.
Also do not buy ANYTHING from TigerRags. Everything I've gotten from there is jinxed.
-

I'd have to agree with VV here. I'm going to start drinking when I wake up until the game is over/I pass out.

I get a new cap every year. Since I retired the battered & faded orange one after 2007, I just can't find one that I can stick with.
I bought 2 for this season (along with a new blue Under Armor gameday polo). We'll see how they do.

But is it bonafide?
I buy a hat and wear it until you can no longer tell the original color. As far as shirts, I have a lot of orange and blue shirts, but few actual "Auburn" branded shirts. Favorite I had was a solid orange polo, with the little Ralph Lauren horse and rider in navy blue. Understated, but everyone knew who I pulled for.
-
I think I found Buzz's hat for this year.

Well one thing about it, this one should be safe from the hat thief.
-
I should have bought a new shirt last year for gamedays...instead I decided the navy Polo I wore all through 2010 would work for another season. I was wrong.
I haven't bought one yet, so I'm going to just rock my orange Polo, I assume. If Climpsum wins on Saturday night, I will be buying a new gameday shirt on Sunday morning.

This style of hat worked for Coach Jordan, sometimes even with a rain cover.
I think John McKay wore one while coaching the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Retro might work for Snags.

In the spring of 1997, my fraternity brother found two foam Visors at Haley Center that were white, and simply read "GO TO HELL ALABAMA." Naturally, we loved them. Wore them to the baseball game series vs Alabama that spring, and Auburn was swept. We didn't suspect anything at the time.
That fall, we wore them to the Iron Bowl.
When Fred Beasley was stopped about 6 inches short of a first down, at the start of the 4th quarter, I took the damn thing off, and told my buddy to take his off.
He refused.
Until about two minutes before "the fumble."
We burned those fucking visors that night in celebration.
