Math and Science major.
SEC academic honor roll last year.
He ain't no dummy and that's what you need at center.
Unless he isn't mean enough to get the job done Reese may have to battle pretty hard to get his job back.
Discuss.

This is for all those people who said you couldn't get 80,000 people to show up for an academic competition

He's not the best colorman in the league for nothing, folks!

I think the kid is plenty smart enough, I also like the fact that Slade and Sullen (more so Sullen) are on either side of him and Sullen apparently has some experience at center. This could help cut down on the mistakes. I am worried about the RT. I think GRob is going to be all that and a bag of chip, so I am not worried about the LT spot. But having Avery Young or Alex Kozan starting at the other tackle spot scares me a little bit.
I worry about his mean streak. If he is half as mean as Ryan Pugh was, then I think we will be ok. If he is timid, then he might get thrown around a little and that bothers me. I prefer my linemen to be more mean than smart.

I know one thing - he sure as hell was smarter than Reese last Friday night.

I have no problem with not being able to pronounce our starting center's name all damn year. Hell, his name is downright scary...
Reese had his chance and he fucked it up. Fariyke has the chance to step up and do great things now - here's hoping he takes it.

Close.....Tongan Warrior. He's ready for battle......It's in his blood.
Looked at his profile on Auburn's Athletic site. He dad has the same first name as a Nigerian guy I used to work with. So I am going to go with: Of African Descent, Alex - as the answer.

You can't say goddamn on the air.

What I have heard from my skreets...Avery Young is a man beast. I wouldn't worry.

I have it on good authority that now that Tundra Fromundacheese is starting, the new pregame warm up will be as follows.

Oops, I crapped my pants.
In 2007, we had 3 true freshmen starting on the O-line when we played under the lights in Baton Rude. And those bad boyz did their dead level best to take the knee out on one of the best D-linemen in the country at that time. Does that translate to 2012? Not really. But, bottom line is if you can ball, you can ball. Plus, they wouldn't be starting a true freshman if he wasn't better than the guy(s) behind him.

AUBURN - The Auburn Tigers held a two-hour practice Sunday evening at the Auburn Athletics Complex Practice Fields, preparing for Saturday's season opener versus Clemson.
"I thought we came out tonight with a lot of energy," said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. "It was good to see the guys very excited about game week. It was high intensity in terms of offense and defense doing a lot of good work against each other. I thought tonight was a really, really good practice."
Chizik also unveiled the offensive line rotation for the opener. Tunde Fariyike will be the starting center, backed up by John Sullen there. The starting tackles will be Avery Young and Greg Robinson, backed up by Shon Coleman and Patrick Miller. The starting guards will be Sullen and Chad Slade, backed up by Alex Kozan and Christian Westerman.
The Tigers will be off Monday and return to the practice field Tuesday afternoon.

Although not ideal, I can live with that.

very likable young man. I think he'll be a good interview each game.

Seriously the kid does come off intelligent and he does have size. I like the size of the line. I do wish Young was bigger but maybe that won't matter in this offense. I still don't know what to expect from this team and I have to write a pick 'em column tonight.

I don't know yet if he can play SEC level football, but I like this kid! I hope he can play! He's got real smarts, football smarts, and seems humble. And he didn't get his ass arrested inside of 10 days to play the first game, so that's a plus too.

AUBURN, Alabama -- Barely mentioned through most of fall camp, Tunde Fariyike has largely been an afterthought throughout Auburn’s constant shuffling on the offensive line.
Fariyike was expected only to back up Freshman All-SEC center Reese Dismukes, one of the few "locks" to start up front.
Now Fariyike — whose name is pronounced Toon-day Far-i-yah-kee — will make the first start of his career on Saturday in Auburn’s season opener against Clemson, replacing Dismukes, who has been suspended indefinitely after an arrest for public intoxication.
"Everybody is looking at me," Fariyike said. "I’ve got to show up."
Fariyike, a two-star recruit coming out of Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston, Ga., had offers from Navy, Air Force, Duke and East Carolina before becoming a late addition to Auburn’s 2010 signing class.
Tunde Fariyike steps up for Auburn at center Auburn sophomore center Tunde Fariyike is preparing to make the first start of his career against Clemson.
After taking a redshirt year in 2010, Fariyike played in all 13 games as a punt protector last season, but he’s seen action at center in only one game — Auburn’s win over Ole Miss.
Now, he’s in charge of making all the calls at the line of scrimmage for an Auburn team breaking in a young group on the offensive line.
Fariyike will be flanked by returning starters John Sullen and Chad Slade at left and right guard, respectively, but redshirt freshman Greg Robinson and true freshman Avery Young will man the tackles against No. 14 Clemson.
"The center has to be the smartest person on the field, because he has to know what we’re going to do, and he has to know what the defense is going to do also," Sullen said.
Fariyike rarely has any problems with the mental side of the game.
When Auburn began installing new offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler’s NFL-style scheme this year, most players had to take a little extra time learning the complicated playbook.
Fariyike, a biomedical sciences major who plans to become a doctor, picked it up with very few problems.
"I’m not going to say it was really easy, but it wasn’t really hard, either," Fariyike said. "You still have your gap schemes, your zone schemes. It’s the same with every offense. You just adjust to what the play-call is."
Football is Fariyike’s second love.
As a kid, Fariyike always wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Dr. Babatunde Fariyike is a specialist in internal medicine in Thomaston, and he set an example his son hopes to emulate.
Fariyike’s ultimate goal is to practice medicine.
"Since I was a little kid," Fariyike said. "My dad was a doctor, so I looked up to him. He really affected me."
Fariyike’s cerebral approach to the game, along with his experience at the position, earned him the starting spot over Auburn’s other options. Fariyike has been penciled in as Dismukes’ backup since the second half of last season.
One by one on Sunday night, Fariyike’s teammates said they trust him to make the right calls at the line of scrimmage against Clemson.
He hates making mistakes.
"He’s a perfectionist with every call he makes and every step he wants to get right," quarterback Kiehl Frazier said. "Every time he makes a mistake, he kills himself and tries to get better."
Fariyike is no longer the forgotten man on Auburn’s offensive line.
On Saturday, he’ll be the centerpiece.
"It really hit me today," Fariyike said. "This is it. This is my opportunity to show what I can really do."

6'6†and a dozen Krystal Cheeseburgers away from 300lbs...how big do you want him to be exactly?
â€Think of Corey Lemonier in front of you with 60 more pounds and 2 inches taller.†- Slade when talking about Avery Young.

That's cute and all, but here's reality in the SEC West:
LSU Tackles: 72 Alex Hurst 6-6 331 Sr. and 76 Chris Faulk 6-6 323 Jr.
Bammer's Tackles: 76 D.J. Fluker | 6-6, 335, JR or 71 Cyrus Kouandjio | 6-6, 311, SO
Arkansas Tackles: 69 David Hurd | 6-6, 300, JR and 74 Brey Cook | 6-7, 308, SO
MSU Tackles: 75 Blaine Clausell | 6-7, 305, SO and 77 Charles Siddoway | 6-7, 300, JR
Ole Miss Tackles: 71 Pierce Burton | 6-7, 290, JR and 70 Emmanuel McCray | 6-5, 319, JR
Other than one at lowly Ole Miss we're there is only one starting an OT that is under 300. Not another true Fr. starting in the West besides Auburn's. So, to answer your question, I want him to be about 2 years older, 2 years more experienced in SEC play, and 30lbs heavier. Hopefully, he'll play above his head.

You haven't even noticed the asses yet, have you?
The movement caught my eye.

Yes, there are a lot of asses on here.
