No personal experience, but the first suggestion I would have would be to open your own checking account with your name only, and transfer any joint funds you have together from the joint account to your new personal account. Do this immediately, before she thinks of it.
Next, go ahead and get a lawyer. Female divorce attorneys are the best if your 'friend' is a man. Trust me on this.
