Title: Trotter disillusioned, delusional

Disillusioned:
Quote
The way things happened throughout the year of starting and then getting benched and really not getting another shot to come back in and play—until I had to when Clint went down—I felt like if they really gave me more chances to come back in, it would have been a tough decision. But with the way things happened and me getting benched, they knew what I could do and apparently didn’t think it was good enough.

Sort of don't blame him, but his confidence fell so far off that he stunk like month old fish by the time he was yanked.  How much of that was coaches telling him "get your shit together or Clint's coming in" or him reading message boards, I don't know.  But if he'd played in the last three games he started like he did in Atlanta (or even against USU or SC), we'd have no idea how dreadful Moseley really is because Clint would never have seen the field.

Delusional:
Quote
Hopefully I’ll be on an NFL roster (next year), but hopefully I’m playing somewhere. I’ll really have an open mind at going anywhere. I’m not closed off to any potential options. Hopefully just playing anywhere, wherever that is.

Right...

Stranger things have happened.
Brodie Croyle has stuck around long enough to get retirement.

He could be a good arena player. How many of us would love to have played a game for 50K-75K a year right out of college?

Birmingham Steel Dogs perhaps?

I don't know Trotter personally.  He always seemed level headed and not prone to being emotional like Moseley showed last year.  Still not sure that first quote was emotional, or just thinking out loud.

I don't know how the QB race went, but would find it difficult to believe that Malzahn was constantly chirping at Trotter about losing his job.  Can't imagine any coach thinking that's the best motivation for a QB.

By the time Trotter was benched we were all screaming for it...INCLUDING ME, even though I'm the one that always harps about "There's a reason the starter is the starter, and the back up is the back up".  And we found out exactly that with Moseley.   Bad as Trotter was, Moseley was worse.  Fact is, the OL play, what we all are sure now were attitude problems with Dyer, and Blake being injured contributed greatly to sub par QB play, though I can say this for certain, Moseley isn't an SEC QB under the best of circumstances.  Trotter?  We'll never know for sure, but the Bowl game showed he's ok when he gets protection and has a big play WR.

As for the NFL, I'd have thought he'd have played his Sr. year if he really and truly entertained such aspirations.  I don't think he does, but I guess he'll work out for some teams, see if someone is really hard up for a #3 QB, and see if he can get paid a little money for a year or 2 until he has to make it in the real world.  As stated above, stranger things have happened.  Maybe he winds up playing Areana ball for a bit, or worst case, he has to get a job.

Sooo this John Turner guy is a Bammer-douche, right?

Questions asked:

Quote
Q: You aren't the only key player who isn't on the roster this spring but had eligibility remaining. A guy you handed the ball off to, standout running back Mike Dyer, followed former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and transferred to Arkansas State. His announcement came about a week before yours. Did that surprise you?

Quote
Q: Former Auburn player Antonio Goodwin was convicted of first-degree robbery Friday. Mike Dyer took the stand the day before to detail drug use by teammates. Do think there is a problem in the Auburn locker room?

Quote
Q: Last question: Alabama or Auburn has won the last three BCS championships. Is that a streak you see continuing in 2012? And would you accept an Alabama title to continue it?

After glossing over the bullshit Alabama question...

Q: But would you accept an Alabama championship to continue the streak?

That's what I was thinking. It could've been finebaum, hurtt or woodbammer doing the article and I almost wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

The question is pointless, and reminds me of some idiots bickering on al.com.  Seriously, "would you accept it"?  Is there a choice not to?  If it happens and I don't accept it, what then?  If I do accept it, does bammer get something extra?  It's like it's asked so that the one asking can say "ah HA, you're really a bama fan at heart" if you say you'd accept it.

Off topic but sort of on topic.  Our local sports talk show has made a few changes with the long time morning guy (Grew up a Bama fan but attended AU...plays it pretty much down the middle) going to lunch time and a former Bama beat writer taking over mornings.  On the way in today, I heard him reading the odds on the MNC from Danny Bagman SherryDan.  He has LSU winning slightly over Alabama and USC.  But he read some comments fron Danny boy about AJ McTatoo saying he might be the next Joe Namath but right now he doesn't know if he's the type of QB to bring a team back from 10 points down late.

Voice immediately rose 12 octaves to 5th grade school girl on the playground level. "When has Coach Saban EVER let his quarterback sling it around 50 times a game?"  (Uncontrolled breathing) "He's...he's just playing EXACTLY the way Coach Saban wants him to play."  "I just don't get where Sheridan comes off making these remarks.....we've got to go to break".

  (Uncontrolled breathing)

Mouth breathing. Somehow some of them get their nostrils to flare at the same time. It's hard to look away.

I can't help but think of a petting zoo.
