The State Police this afternoon released its report on Razorback football coach Bobby Petrino's motorcycle wreck.
WITH PETRINO ON RIDE: Jessica Dorrell
The report reveals that Petrino had a rider on the back of his Harley-Davidson when he left the highway near Crosses on a Sunday evening drive on Highway 16 — Jessica Dorrell, 25, of Elkins. She's a former Razorback volleyball player who was named the first Razorback female athletic fund-raiser when she became an assistant director of the Razorback Foundation in May 2011, according to the UA website. Last month, she went to work directly for Petrino, when she was named the student-athlete coordinator for the football team. She's also earned an MBA. It apparently was she who flagged down a motorist to get assistance for the injured Petrino. She was not hurt in the wreck and said she didn't know what had caused it. The report quotes Petrino as saying because of sun and wind he was unable to maneuver the bike and drove off the road. He said he tried to lay the bike down and "the next thing I know I was lying in a wood pile."

Hmm, here's the initial statement from Bobby to everyone...
Petrino said then that he had spent Sunday with his wife, Becky, at a lake and was going for an evening ride.
"When I came out of the ditch, there was a lady there that had flagged down a car," Petrino said Tuesday, nursing four broken ribs and wearing a neck brace to support a cracked neck vertebra. "The guy that was in the passenger's seat said, 'Get in, we'll just take you right to the hospital instead of waiting,' and so I got in the car and they headed toward Fayetteville."
and here's what really happened...
Petrino was riding with Dorrell when he lost control of his motorcycle. Dorrell said in the report that she wasn't sure what caused the accident, during which Petrino was unable to maneuver a turn and laid the motorcycle down on its left side while sliding off a rural, two-lane highway about 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville.
Petrino said in the report that wind and sun caused the accident. The police report said Petrino and Dorrell were taken by a passer-by from the scene of the accident to a shopping center in southeast Fayetteville, where a state police officer took Petrino to the hospital.
The police report said Dorrell wasn't taken to a hospital, and that she was dropped off at her vehicle at the shopping center. State police spokesman Bill Sadler said Petrino didn't try to hide Dorrell's part in the accident when questioned on Tuesday.

Actually a bit alarming that they will have the moral high ground on Arkansas if they do not fire Petrino. They did get rid of Price albeit under heavy pressure to do so.

Just playing devil's advocate here...but if he was a .500 coach, but squeaky clean, would it matter? Does anybody REALLY care, or is it only a one way street? He's paid to win, unless he turns out to be a regular guy in his personal life (and I'm not suggesting everybody cheats on their wives, but it's not uncommon), then that part matters too? However, if he's a great, upstanding Christian, philanthropist, graduates all his players, and is a great ambassador of the program, but can't win more than 7 game a year, he's gone with no consideration of how great a guy he is? We all know the answer to that last question, and until THAT changes, the other end of the spectrum won't change either. Winning really is all he's paid to do.

JR - I see where Nutt's teams finished as high as 17th in a couple of years. Petrino just surpassed that easily the last 2 years. I defended Nutt, but what Bobby did the last 2 years was more than what Nutt did.

"Relevant" is subjective I guess. Nutt managed to win the west once, and tie for 1st 2 other times. Petrino has won more games, but yet to be "relevant" in the west beyond one "tie for 2nd".
He also consistently has at least 3 wins built in in non-conf. play. At Ark: W. Ill., La Monroe, Tulsa, Missouri St. x2, E. Mich., Troy x2, TN Tech., UL Monroe, UTEP New Mexico account for 12 of his 32 wins there. Then he's got Ole Miss, MSU, and So. Car every year, and account for 8 more wins over that time. Not always gimmes, but, you get the picture. He's beaten the following ranked teams: 2008- #18 Tulsa and #23 Auburn (2-3 vs ranked teams), 2009: #17 Auburn (1-4 vs Ranked teams), 2010: #6 LSU, #18 So. Car., #22 MSU (3-3 vs ranked teams), 2011: #14 aTm, #10 So. Car. (3-2 vs Ranked teams). Of those "ranked teams" I can think of 3 that wound up .500 teams or worse by the end of the season.
Bobby Petrino is a good football coach. He's, IMHO, over-performing based on his recruiting. He manages to get a key player or 2 to make plays on an otherwise nameless roster. But he's not beating the big boys, and not yet competing for the west, and I don't think he ever will with his recruiting. He's set up to win 10 games a year, and go to a decent bowl every year, but he'll never be "relevant" beyond that at Ark.
In a way, he's kind of doing it with smoke and mirrors much like what Tubs did at Ole Miss, only Ark is a step above Ole Miss as a program.
He's got them as relevant as they'll ever be. Oh by the way, LSU and bammer aint backing down anytime soon, and Auburn is getting better quick. It won't get any better for him.

I think is the reason they won the West with Nutt and haven't with Petrino. LSU, Alabama (and Auburn in 2010) were all playing lights out of recent. The years that Nutt won the West, it was more wide open for the taking. The East was def the better division at the top those years. And Nutt promptly got his ass kicked in the SECCG.
