I would hate to hate Tampa Bay, but I will.
-
The front office at Tampa Bay has lost their fucking collective mind if they do this.
-
I'm with K. I would hate to trash my TB windbreaker and baseball cap, would do it pretty fast if they did this. I am still mad at them for firing Gruden. Although I do like him being in the booth.

Honestly, they should be fired for considering it. Of course, they will be fired within 2 years if they actually go through with it.

The question is how fast would you do it?

This!

In case you didn't see, Chip Kelly turned them down.
That's right, Tampa Bay offered Chip Kelly a head coaching job and he turned it down.
I fail to see his genius that is supposedly so apparent.

Proves that THIS....

had already happened.
Fire Jon Gruden and hire Raheem Morris......WTF-ever. Morris had never even been a DC in the NFL and they handed him the keys to the kingdom. Its evident the Bucs organization is ALREADY batshit crazy.

All of the Oregon outlets were reporting it was a done deal and then he had a sudden change of heart. Effing moron.

I think he showed he's at least not a complete moron by turning it down. He'd have been a colossal failure in the NFL in my opinion.
-
Really, I think turning them down is a smart move.
Kelly has only been a college HC for 3 years. If I'm him, when I see guys like Spurrier and Saban who made the leap and flopped, I'm going to think about it. When I know I have a sure thing in the PAC-12 and have 200% job security where I am and I have my program setup the way I want it, I'm really going to think about it. When I think about how fucked up Tampa Bay is, both in the locker room and the front office, then shit really starts to become clearer. Maybe he simply knows his limitations, and is more focused on long term than short term, i.e., more than likely being fired by TB in 3 years.
-
Okay...question. I have no dog in the fight. Couldn't give two bigger farts in the wind whether TB and Kelly contracted the goat aids. Just wondering why most think Kelly would be such a colossal flop in the NFL. He's got a pretty diverse resume when you check teh Wiki's. Even though a lot of his experience was at smaller schools til he hit Oregon, he's coached about all the postions plus being a DC. As OC and head corch with the Ducks, his offenses have obviously ripped it up. He's played for a MNC and won a Rose Bowl and is 34-6 as the head man.
Seriously, don't care if he took the gig or not. Just looking for concrete reasons why the guy is an automatic bust in most people's view.

His offensive philosophy works great in the PAC-12. I just really don't see that translating over to the NFL. He almost certainly couldn't bring his offense and install it as is. I think he has a niche, and he would be smart to stay there.
-
I would love to see ol Chipper get his ass handed to him in the NFL, just not at the expense of the Bucs.

Translation: If I had Nike's money backing my program, I wouldn't leave the north woods either.

Because it is the NFL, where putting a running back at the QB position 5 plays a game earns you the distinction of being a wild eyed eccentric who runs a gimmicky offense.
But seriously, I think he would be a bust because if he runs the offense he runs at Oregon it would take a complete overhaul of an NFL team from top to bottom. Pretty much every NFL team runs 85% of the same offense and the players are all the same. To run a no huddle spread you would need your linemen to slim down to keep up with the pace, a certain skill set at QB, RB, and WR, those skill position players able to stay on the field since you do not have time for substitutions, a DC who would be willing to take a job where he is constantly going to have his guys on the field due to the offense shuttling on or off quickly (either successfully or not), and a GM who is willing to buy in to get you the players to do this.
In college you turn over an entire roster in 4 years whether you want to or not, in the NFL the players are under longer contracts and you can't turn them over fast enough to completely blow up an offensive system which leaves you with players that are unable or unwilling to fit into your new system. It would be ugly for 2-3 seasons and a NFL coach doesn't get a 4th season if it looked that bad for the first 3.

Pretty damn fast.

Yeah they were impressed with his clock management skills.
