Post by: Townhallsavoy on January 10, 2012, 10:02:29 PM

4. Odell Beckham (LSU)
5. Cobi Hamilton (Arkansas)

Top Five Tight Ends:

1. Orson Charles (Georgia) (Is he returning?)
2. Phillip Lutz (Auburn)

4-5. Other people I don't know about

Top Five Linemen:

4. Matt Elam (Florida)
5. Chris Sawyer (Ole Miss)

*I didn't realize LSU loses all three linebackers.
**LSU may have one of the more dominant defensive lines in history.
***Besides Lemonier, our defensive roster is laughable.  A few hopefuls and a few bright spots.  But in terms of eye-popping, big names that make you think, "I know this guy will get a chance in the NFL"?  We don't have them.
****Gonna be a long wait.
*****Also...who'd I miss?

I think we'll see vast improvement in defense in 2012.   I think Jake Holland will surprise next season.  T'Sharvan Bell will be back.   We'll have a defensive roster loaded with Jr. and Sr. players, backed up by experienced Soph.  Am hoping Johnathan Rose steps up and is as advrtised.   And, you never know who might be moved where by BVG.

Hopefully Frost will live up to his hype.  We need linebacker like AWK needs mancawk.

I forgot we had Frost.  Is he officially a linebacker now, or are they still considering him at WR?

With what I heard about how "different" bowl prep was for the defense, and how intense BVG is, I'm blaming Roof for lackluster play until I see different.  But from what I see coming back, I can tell you this, "we're young" will not be any type of excuse on the defensive side of the ball.

By my count, the starters should have the following in the 2 deep:

DE: 4 Jr (not counting Ford)
DT: 2 Jr, 2 Soph
LB: 2 Sr, 2 Jr., 2 Soph (Plus maybe Frost?)
CB: Sr, 3 Jr., 2 Soph
S: Sr., 2 Jr., Soph

Frost was working with the LB during bowl practice.   I think we will see Rah-Rah step up at LB as well.  According to Caldwell and Murphy he is looking good, getting in better shape as the season went on they are expecting big things from him.  Glad to hear that since it wasn't for sure that he was ever going to play again.  Garrett will need some weight but also looked when he played.  Evans will be solid, nothing that makes you think "damn!" but will be solid.

Sanders showed signs of dominance at times, Nosa is a solid player.  Blackson looked damn good until he got injured as far as TF go.   Gabe Wright looked good in the bowl game.  I think that extra time helped with some of the younger guys. Dee Ford (if fully healed from back surgery) should be a beast at DE.  He was playing like a mad man until he went down.

If Lolley and Thig are coaching out DB's then I don't know what will happen back there.  Bell should provide some leadership, Florence, Rose, Thereize, Whitehead, Davis and Mincy shouldn't be that bad.

I think we should be much improved on D.  What worries me about next season is our OL and QB play more than anything.

I think Jake Holland will surprise next season.

If he's our surprise we got a long fucking year coming.  The boy is slower than me.

No offense to his family but I hope him and Moseley get real friendly with each other while they sit over on the bench playing checkers.

I know this is an Auburn board, but McCalebb in the top 5?  In the SEC?

Bynes was slow as molasses too, and folks thought he sucked too, but he weren't bad in the end.

I think he'll have the most career rushing yards out of the entire SEC going into next season.

But I forgot about the Georgia running back.  I'd bump Onterrio down one and put Crowell at 4.

Don't forge that McCalebb was the only running back on our team (really the only player) that did anything against LSU and Alabama.  We just quit using him once he got going.

We just quit using him once he got going.  (since I can't bold)

This was pretty much the game plan in all our losses.

I'm slightly disappointed that you didn't have some clever LSU avatar for me leading up to the game.
