...all over James Franklin.

Vice Chancellor David Williams announced on Friday that Head Football Coach James Franklin has received a new contract, and that the university will make a number of facility improvements in the coming years that will benefit not only the football program, but the university as a whole. Per Vanderbilt's policy, details of the contract as well as the cost for the facility enhancements were not disclosed.
"First and foremost, we have torn up the contract for James Franklin, and rewarded him and his family with a new contract with extended years and a substantial increase in compensation," Williams said.
Williams announced that the largest facility project of all will be the construction of a new indoor facility that will include a 120-yard football field with a track around it. The facility will be used by many of Vanderbilt's sports.

Smart move. If you don't protect him, he's gone.
He's about as good a coach as you're going to get, maybe ever. Depends on how much he can build you up, and how long he sticks around.

Very smart.

He's not just the best coach that Vandy can get; he's a damn good coach that any program should want.
You have a 6-6 team that has traditionally blown donkey balls, yet you currently have the 24th best recruiting class in the nation?
You only have talent which was recruited by the previous coach, and that talent doesn't even compare to what Franklin is recruiting now, yet you almost beat Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee? In his first year, he was 19 points away from a 10-2 record...not at a top tier or average program, but shitty ass Vanderbilt.
It was a very smart move, not because Franklin is an average coach that could help Vanderbilt or some other shitty team; it was a very smart move because Franklin is a very good coach that could probably do well even at top tier programs.
And we need to shove so much money up his ass that he never wants to leave.

I take it Vandy Vol is excited. You've probably whacked off 3 or 4 times upon hearing this news right?
-
Damnit....
Don't we play Vandy next year?
-
When he winds up having a typical Vandy team, which will happen soon, they'll say he can't coach.
-
CJF has stated the he believes he can turn Vandy into the SEC's version of Stanford. The first thing he needs to do is find a horse mouthed lumberjack to play QB.

He can't do that unless the powers that be will support it, and get him the facilities to lure players, make some exceptions on admissions like Miami does for football players, and most importantly, get a bag man.

Both hands are so tired that I've resorted to repeatedly smacking my erection against the nearest object.

Given our track record, that's a possibility. I'll never say the guy can't coach; he's proven that he can from this year alone. But no one's flawless, and if we do go back to losing because of something that he is or is not doing, then yeah, I'll call for his head.
But I don't think we'll revert back to a typical Vandy team as long as Franklin is there, and as long as he doesn't mysteriously lose his golden touch. Afterall, his recruiting skillz have surpassed results from previous years by leaps and bounds; it would be sort of hard to revert back to the old Vandy with a completely new level of talent, a good coach, and new facilities that the university is building in support of its team.
I don't think we'll be winning the SEC championship any time soon, but I'm excited to see what Franklin and the team will be doing in 3-5 years.
