Two things...

First by Hollywood marines I mean ones that went through boot camp in San Diego in lieu of Parris island.

Secondly, we are a department of the navy.  The men's department.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Could you ever imagine Cruise and Kilmer at Parris Island? I love Top Gun, bt its fake as hell. They might break a nail. I thought the same of him in A Few Good Men as well. At least Mel Gibson is believable as a bad ass miltary hero.

I guffawed at your second line.

So, let me get what you are saying here.  Marines = only good part of the Navy, the rest are all gay?

Top gun is Navy based and both of them were playing Navy pilots.  Not Marines.  You didn't see any Harriers did you?

You read way too much into my joke. I just wanted to use your reference as an excuse to poke fun at Top Gun a bit. Mainly Val Kilmer. Marines, Hollywood, Dept of Navy - it just reminded me of it. Nothing more, nothing less.

And certainly you guys don't think SEALS are gay.

Could "Saban to Texas" have legs?

I heard Finebaum mention Mack Brown not being in good shape for the future of Texas.

I haven't heard any rumors or anything, but with Texas getting their own network, ESPN money, an easier conference, and a recently renovated stadium, why not throw $10 million towards Saban?

Not saying Saban would accept it even it if was offerred.

The rumor is gaining legs on some Big 12 and Big Televen boards.  I seriously doubt it will happen though.

You know from a business standpoint, he'd have to consider it if they came calling.  Texas may not have the history equal to bammer, but it has more of any resource you can imagine, plus the new TV network.

I hope it happens, just so Bama would match it, thus driving up season ticket prices for all Bama fans.

Maybe I'm just a homer, but I think Saban will retire from Alabama. I think his wife has put her foot down that the next time they move, it's to their retirement lake house in GA. He's 60 now, and I just don't see him taking on another project.

Is it though? Maybe talent wise. But UT is a .500 team this year. What would they be in our conference you think? They are underachieving out the wazoo since the BCSCG against Bama. Resource and money - yes Texas is a step up. But tradition and unabashed fan support, it's a step down. I hate to say it, but Bama and Saban are a perfect fit. Mack has more the personality that fits in out there.

He has actually mentioned numerous times before that moving around so much has taught him a lesson, and that his wife is over it and has told him that this is the last stop.

But then again, he is not going to be the coach at Alabama. Shit can change, but I actually believe what he's saying about this being his last gig.

Mack Brown didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach. It may not be as bad of a situation as Bama was, but it sure as hell isn't as good as it was a few years ago./
