LSU sophomores Spencer Ware and Tyrann Mathieu will be suspended for Saturday's game against Auburn after reportedly failing a drug test, a source told The Daily Reveille on Wednesday.
The suspensions could turn into multiple-game suspensions as well.
Michael Bonnette, LSU's Associate Athletics Director and Sports Information Director, did not comment on the matter, but neither confirmed nor denied the reports, saying he will speak with LSU coach Les Miles this afternoon.
Ware is the Tigers' starting running back and has gained 512 yards as part of a dynamic LSU rushing attack.
Mathieu has garnered widespread Heisman hype after forcing six turnovers and scoring two touchdowns on defense and special teams this season.

Hope that "high" was worth the cost. I will never understand how this happens. This could cost both of them HUGE $$$$ in the future.

OK, so now I am less negative than I was before. Still think we are gonna lose, but I feel better about the chances of an upset than I did before. Matthieu was one of the most impressive defenders I have ever seen in person. Dude was fucking FAST - he was everywhere, all the time, all over the place. It seemed like he was in on every damn defensive play against Oregon.
Plus, now there is a morale thing. Imagine if Nick Fairley had been suspended for a big game last year. Your go to guy, the one with all the hype, the guy that makes you feel unbeatable. The impact of Matthieu being gone will be felt - deflating of the tires, so to speak.
Maybe.

What really pisses me off is that you know this will turn into a multiple game suspension. Who do they have up next? Yeah...you guessed it. Updyke State University.

PFFFFFT...you really think Les will keep them out of the national championship game? He thinks he's suspending them on what amounts to a bye week. They will have served their time and promised never to do it again by the Updyke game.

If there is a God, this will happen.
I don't think I've been good enough to deserve that miracle.

Granted none of us know the details -
But yeah. I doubt they're suspended for the Bama game. Finebaum's already chalked this up to Auburn being looked at like Vanderbilt. Get the suspensions and doghouses out of the way during the Auburn game and bring them all back for the real football games.
BUT I GOTS THAT FEELING Y'ALL!

Responses from LSU's Douchedroppings:
Mathieu made 1 assist on a tackle last week with no PBU, Not int, no FF, nothing but got handled by Da'rick Rodgers.
Ware is a RB, Ford will step out and might actually produce more than Ware had.
Not worried, Auburn will still get that ass whipped.
Do you realize how minimal this is? Blue and Ford can more than make up for Ware. We also have Magee and Hilliard.
Mathieu hurts, but losing Simon was the real killer.
Claiborne and Brooks are more than able to handle your inept offense and WR's.
Plus with Hatcher on the bench those big yards will disappear.
meh...we'll still win by 3 Td's.
Who says "go take a test kid"? Is it the SEC?
If so I would like to know if bama/auburn players have been tested lately
-
And Mathieu's Facebook is providing some good laughs too.

A plethora of butthurt LSU fans right now. Not to mention the delusional "This won't matter" fans.

It wouldn't matter if they were playing this Saturday, because Auburn would've still beat them. It'll be over by halftime now.

Seriously, I still think Auburn matches up better with LSU than they did with Clemson or Arkansas.
IF...and of course, it is a big IF...Jeff Whitaker and company can plug the gaps and keep their running backs in check, they will have a fighting chance in this game.
Also, the offense cannot turn the ball over in this game if they want to have any chance whatsoever to win.

You forgot to read the language beneath, stating that it only applies these policies when relating to LSU. Cam Newton...hmmm...

As I said...those are some big IFs. I still say the defense matches up better with LSU than Arky or Clemson.
It still doesn't mean Moseley and company will even sniff the end zone against their D, with or without Matthieu.

By the way, all accounts are this is actually happening. I must have done something really good to deserve this.
Supposedly the LSU policy is to suspend them for 15% of the season for drug issues, and they round down. In other words, one game. I've heard this from multiple sources.

Synthetic weed.
Not sure if that's confirmed, but I know ESPN reported it so it must be true.

Yeah, something's weird about that.
The entire purpose for synthetic weed's existence is that it is untraceable on drug tests. The only reason people use it is if they know they have to take one. The main ingredient is a synthetic molecular "recreation" of THC that mimics the molecular structure and basically has the same effects.

Which is why I don't think it was a failed drug test. I think they were caught high or smoking something that was obviously not a cigarette. Or perhaps busted with something worse and it was covered up.
We had a DEA agent come speak to our school about "Salvia." He showed how "salvia" is just a plant, and the synthetic marijuana is a chemical that can be created using an almost uncountable amount of combinations. You could essentially apply the chemical to any plant and get the same effect after smoking it.
The problem with detecting it is that they can't test the plant to see if any of the possible combinations show up. They have to test to see if a particular combination of chemicals is present in the plant. It's pretty much a crapshoot; therefore, it takes months to determine if a plant has a chemical that mimics the effects of THC.
Those chemicals work the same in urine. You can't just take a piss test and see if they have any chemicals in the urine. It's the same with THC. They're testing specifically for THC. They know marijuana has THC in it, so it's not a Where's Waldo search.
So how they busted these kids for "synthetic weed" is unbeknownst to me. I saw some black helicopters heading to Baton Rouge though.

Sources: Suspended LSU football players to return for Alabama game
Published: Friday, October 21, 2011, 10:20 AM

Baton Rouge - Three LSU football players suspended for Saturday's game with Auburn will miss one game and return for the Nov. 5 game against Alabama, two sources close to the situation said.
Leading rusher Spencer Ware and cornerbacks Tyrann Mathieu and Tharold Simon, who tested positive for synthetic marijuana, will not dress out Saturday when the No. 1-ranked Tigers play No. 19 Auburn.
Anonymous sources confirmed to the Times Picayune Wednesday that the three players would be suspended for the game. The LSU student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, first reported the suspensions of Ware and Mathieu.
LSU Coach Les Miles in a press conference Wednesday declined to acknowledge the suspensions, or speak in detail about them. The players have met with Miles and been informed of their status.
LSU has an open date next weekend before traveling to Tuscaloosa for what could be a battle of unbeaten teams ranked Nos. 1 and 2.
Hallalujah brothas and sistas!

Yes, the synthetic stuff is supposedly undetectable. Also this was reported as a "University Mandated" test. I assume all scholarship recipients and/or student athletes have this in their grant in aid contract. I don't think the suspension, or length of same is Les' call.

See, this is exactly what everyone is talking about. LSU plays #19 (By that account) Auburn tomorrow and all anyone seems to be focused on is whether these guys will be back for the Bama game. I damn sure hope their players have that same focus. If they think this will be a walk in the park tomorrow, they may get that ass handed to them.
