Title: Prediction Thread...With Reasons
Post by: Snaggletiger on September 21, 2011, 03:35:40 PM
I know most everyone picked Bama in the Crown thread and conventional wisdom says it's the safe bet.  Can't tell about Arkansas even though most of their fans will tell you they're this year's Auburn and will run the table.  Basically untested with wins against Missouri State, New Mexico and Troy.  Averaging 50 a game and 517 yards but hard to tell against that competition.  (All due respect to WE)  Arky has a bad habit of getting stage fright in the big games, especially against Bama in recent years when it looked like they had a chance to beat them.  Can the go to Tuxcaloser and do it?

92' Defense:  27

Little Piggies: 14

LSU, on the other hand, has been tested early with wins over Oregon (They're just so fast) in Dallas and MSU in cowbell city.  Love, love, love their D.  I want to sleep with all of them and have their babies.  Sooo not sold on Lee and the offense.  I think the D is going to have to pull something late to salvage this one.  WVU is pretty good.

Bitch Ass Corndogs:  24

Coal Miner's Daughters: 20

Could there be two more job secure corches in America this weekend in Oxford?  It might be two care bears pillow fighting but at least Jawja has talent.  Cold Piss is just bad.

Dawgs:  35

Nuttjobs:  - Eleventeen

And finally, your prediction on Auburn's D this weekend.  Over/Under 24 agaisnt a paaaaathetic FAU???
Over/Under 400 yards allowed?

Until they prove me wrong...Over and Over.

Ole Miss may be scary right now. Who knows. Just something about Nutt teams when they are totally counted out that scare me. Otherwise, they don't. I still think Ga should beat them at will.

I pick the piggies to win in turdtown.  You made a point about the level of competition Arky has faced so far, but the same can be said about bammer.  Penn St looks horrible, and almost lost to Temple.  Yeah, that's right, Temple.  If teh Hogs can load up and stop this years Heisman winner and force AJ McIlikecocks to beat them, then I think they come out with a win.

Arky 31

scumoftheearth 24

LSU will bitch slap WVU.  Unless they don't.  WVU may be playing this game with a HUGE chip on their shoulders due to the fact that the SEC and the ACC told them to fuck off when they asked to be a part of their conferences.  LSU has been tested early on, and I think Lee is a lot like McGinger was for the tide in 09.  He doesn't have to be great, just good enough to keep handing the ball off.

I will take the over on points and yards given up by the AU Tigers this weekend.  Until they prove that they can tackle I have to.  Get ready for another shootout.

Damn, I forgot about the pillow fight.

The puppies played USCe hard and made a couple of mistakes in the fourth quarter that led to the Cock victory.  This game will be out of reach for the rebel black bears by the time the fourth quarter starts so Murray can go full tard and the puppies still win.

I think you are close on bammer/Arky game.  I think Satans D shuts them down.  They aren't 92 level, but so far so good against a shitty Penn St, North Tx, and Kent St.   They will run it, run it some more, and then run it again and eventually Ark will break.  Until Arky can live up to the "darkhorse" role that some like to mention them in, I will change my mind about them, but they won't.

LSU is playing the best D this year that I have seen in a long time.  They are flat out fucking scary on that side of the ball.  They wax WVU.  It's not even close in my mind.

I think Bama goes down this week. Neither team has really been tested, but Arkansas brought slightly more woodshed beating to slightly better teams. Penn State is their flagship win so far and they barely got by them. AJ McChestTattoo gets exposed this weekend.

The Crimson UAs - 31
Albetarabama - 30

Maybe I'm brainwashed by the local media, but I think LSU's legit. In my opinion, they definitely have proven the most with the toughest schedule of the Top 10, with Oklahoma being the only team even close. Hell, Oregon is in the Top 10 still.

The Husqavarna Hatter - 34
Wild and Wonderful Whites - 27

Georgia is Auburn level shitty. Ole Miss is Western Kentucky level shitty.

Starship Troopers - 42
Blackbar Bears - 24

You left out Vandy/SC. Probably intentionally. Most are not giving Vandy a chance.

Vandy is as for real as Vandy can get this year. SC on paper looks legit, but they have not very good yet, struggling with ECU, Georgia, and Navy (more so the latter two). Combine that with the recent scandal, and their minds are probably not 100% there. Not everyone can brush da haters off to the degree Cam did.

I think Vandy pulls the upset and gives Bama something to think about the next week.

I have set up a drinking game for Sat night at my house.

For every point the hoots get over 10 (they have only scored 3 all season)  I drink a beer.

For every yard over 150 I drink a beer.

I have my DVR set to start recording from the second qtr on. (don't think I'll be awake much after that.)

Since Chizik took over, Auburn has played 7 cupcake opponents.  Auburn has averaged 553.7 yard of offense in those games while scoring an average of 51.7.  On defense, Auburn has averaged giving up 312.7 yards to the opponents while giving up 23.5 points per game.

Interestingly enough, in 10 games against ranked opponents, Auburn has averaged giving up 309.9 yards and 20 points per game.

Maybe the issue is sustaining intensity throughout the game.  Auburn always seems to start fast.  Conditioning maybe?

I see a case of alcohol poisoning in your future. Have the paramedics standing by on the speed dial.

I think this is the year the hogs finally nut up and beat the updykes. The air assault is going to be too much for the turds to handle, and they no longer have Mallett to go full retard and start chunking the ball to the wrong shade of red. The tornado survivors offensive line is weak, and AJ McBeergut should be running for his life for a good part of this game.

where to begin...hmmm.   well on the first day god created the heavens then he created the earth.  on the second day god created man and gave rock n roll to us.  the third day I'm pretty sure god created fine cut Copenhagen.   then on that glorious fourth day god created the X.  then on the fifth day he created breasts and vagina for man.  then on that same day a porn shop opened up in the town of Nazareth. many years later a virgin named Mary would bare a child.  yeah I'm not buying on the whole virgin thing...with that porn shop near by.  eventually,  that porn shop would become nookie's house of porn. anyway, what day was I on?...yes the sixth day...the day god told snaggle to start this thread.

this will be the year of the hog.  not according to the Chinese calendar.  not sure what calender but probably from a woopigger still quoting that shit will not buff out. i like ourkansas' chances as they will step up to the pit. the tide will fall this year and why not start with a thrashing from tusk.

All I said about the AU/FAU game was "definitely over".

On second thought, I'm gonna say over on the 400 yards, but under on the 24 points. God I hope so.

They have been outscored 85-3 in two games...

If we can't hold them below 3 TDs and a field goal, in the week that hopefully we made some defensive changes after a stinging loss...we are royally fucked for the season.

And we'd better outscore them by at least 40...

Conference Games

#14 Arkansas (3-0, 0-0) @ #3 Alabama (3-0, 0-0)
Arkansas's QB and WR corps are going to be a test for the vaunted Alabama defense. The Crimson Tide play very aggressively, particularly in the defensive backfield. Look for Arkansas to try and exploit that with draw plays and pump fakes. Alabama's offense is pretty bland, but it may not have to be spectacular to win this one. Arkansas will probably see a steady dose of Alabama's running backs who have yet to get totally on track but still have a ton of potential. The last four SEC teams to beat Alabama ran the ball close to 40 times a game and threw less than 25. That's not Arkansas.  It'll be a hard fought game but Alabama's defense along with the home field advantage are enough to give them the slightest of edges.
Pick: Alabama 20, Arkansas 17

Vanderbilt (3-0, 1-0) @ #12 South Carolina (3-0, 1-0)
Vanderbilt has been quite impressive in the first year under James Franklin, particularly on defense where they lead the league in interceptions. That's a recipe for disaster if Steve Spurrier tries to get QB Stephan Garcia to work out the kinks in his game. However, as aggressive as Vanderbilt plays, I don't see how they can withstand four quarters of pounding from the Gamecocks RB Marcus Lattimore. He's enough of a difference to tilt the game in South Carolina's favor.
Pick: South Carolina 28, Vanderbilt 20

#15 Florida (3-0, 1-0) @ Kentucky (1-2, 0-0)
Florida is simply better at every position and the Gators defense in particular is going to give Kentucky fits. The Gators will tune up the band as they prepare for coming stiffer competition. Kentucky cannot and will not hang in this one for long.
Pick: Florida 41, Kentucky 6

Georgia (1-2, 0-1) @ Ole Miss (1-2, 0-1)
Georgia isn't all that good but Ole Miss is worse. This game is less interesting than the race to see which coach will be ousted first. Bulldogs shouldn't have trouble going into Oxford, and steamrolling the Rebels as they have better players on both sides of the ball.
Pick: Georgia 30, Ole Miss 16

#2 LSU (3-0) @ #16 West Virginia (3-0)
West Virginia's offense is impressive but no more so than Oregon and Mississippi State, which LSU's defense has already shoved in the trash compactor. Expect LSU's offense to keep doing what they do with the power running to set up playaction down the field. The LSU defensive line is going to go after West Virginia like Evander Holyfield and look to land some fast, big blows. The more physical team will win this road test.
Pick: LSU 24, West Virginia 10

Louisiana Tech (1-2) @ Mississippi State (1-2)
The last time Louisiana Tech's offensive coordinator took an offense against Mississippi State the final score was 3-2. Something tells me this one isn't going to be nearly as close. Reeling from two straight losses, Mississippi State is going to work out some frustrations on the Bulldogs from Ruston.
Pick: Mississippi State 44, Louisiana Tech 13

Florida Atlantic (0-2) @ Auburn (2-1)
It may be hard to believe but Auburn's defense is actually worse than Florida Atlantic's, but anyone who wants to be cute and pick the Owls in the upset needs to put the bong down and walk away for a bit. Auburn won't need to be fancy to win this as the Tigers offense should have no problem putting up points. On defense, the Tigers need to use this game to try and salvage something as after this week, the hill is long and steep for the bulk of the remaining season.
Pick: Auburn 38, Florida Atlantic 21
