Title: USC West is the first
Post by: Tiger Wench on September 10, 2011, 11:21:57 PM
Blocked Utah's field goal to tie the game with no time left - USC runs ball back and scores - refs flag for excessive celebration and TD is removed - USC still wins by three but still...

THIS IS THE DUMBEST FUCKING RULE IN CFB - if you cannot celebrate a play like that, then why play at all?

I hate USC and I am glad it was them, but this sucks.

Agree. The refs killed our momentum at the beginning of the game  today with similar such bullshit.

Way too involved in the beginning.  I wonder if they heard something that led them to believe that there would be bad blood on the field and did some pre-emptive penalizing to tone things down.

Agree.  It looked to me like the refs had a sense that emotions on the field were ripe for getting out of hand, and flagged every bullshit thing they could early to try to keep control.  I didn't get that feel from the players, but Auburn was playing on the edge early, and I liked it...the flags had a chilling effect on us IMHO.

Should have read your re before posting the above, but yeah, I agree, and I think they were wrong.
