:snicker:
Prison raped may be a better term. He's getting killed by EVERYBODY too. Not just somebody like Driver. Harper has even jumped a few routes and still fucks it up.

Saints need to find a pass rush really quick, because their secondary sucks donkey meat. Not sure if Green Bay's OL is just that good, but NO has been getting 0 push.

Why the hell would you give Ingram the ball there? Give it to a rookie instead of let your pro-bowl QB try to win it? Stupid...

I thought that was stupid as well.

You do that in preseason.  You do that in week 8.  You do that after Ingram has bulldozed his way on a 3rd and 1 on the 50 yard line a few times.

You do not give it to a rookie against one of the best defensive lines that includes BJ Raji on the last play of the game.

In other news, Drew Brees

Meh. The whole defense looked pretty shitty. But they weren't playing Utah State. The Super Bowl Champs, Aaron Rogers and that receivers corp, will make a D, especially a Safety, look silly.

People here are pissed at the defense in general, and it seems Harper is getting the brunt of it. Yeah, he got burnt on a TD or two, but he was still the defensive stat leader (9 TOT, 7 Solo, .5 Sack).

I don't watch a lot of NFL, and I'm not defending Harper really, but he is a Strong Safety, not a CB.   It would seem that his number of tackles indicates his primary job is run support.  I don't know what they ask him to do mostly...is he walked down, or playing coverage mostly?

They asked him to do WAY too much last night.

While Roman was getting played silly in the 1st half, the real problem was Patrick Robinson, Tracy Porter, and Jabari Greer.

They couldn't cover anybody, so they were trying to use Harper on guys like Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, and Randall Cobb.

Speaking of Randall Cobb:  :jaw:

Exactly.

People should be pissed at the OLB's more than anything. Their suckage forced Harper to try to force desperation tackles.

Burns never did a barrell roll before finishing his 108 yard kickoff return against NFL players.

Cobb is going to be something special if he can keep that up.  Especially since he also plays receiver.

Who the hell were those OLBs anyway, and who coached them?  I bet wherever they spent their college years failed to prepare them for the NFL.  What kind of a name is Herring anyway?

How UT let Cobb of Alcoa wind up at Kentucky, I'll never know.

And FWIW - I would have hopelessly wished he would've never gained a yard, but seeing him in Malzahn's offense on last year's national title squad would've been dank, knee-grow.

Cobb was a 5-11, 176 3* croot coming out of HS.  At the time, I don't think he was regarded as a huge loss.

Hell, he's only avg speed at 4.46 in the combine, but he's just a football player.

ONLY a 4.46?

Thats world class speed JR. And its REAL speed not rivals inflated speed.

It would be considered "avg speed" for an NFL WR.  Maybe high avg, but not blistering speed.  Yes, it's world class speed because it takes that to play WR in the NFL.  Not saying he's slow.

This was NFL.com's analysis:

OVERVEIW:Cobb's a 'tweener lacking the size to be a full-time back or the ball skills and deep speed of a pure receiver. However, he could still make plays as a scat back, sub-package slot receiver and as a returner. Plays his best in the biggest moments. Possesses solid vision, enough quickness to get the corner and gain yards after short passes but isn't a true home run threat. Could be an effective third down back with his short area speed and route-running but hands need to be more consistent and he has a ways to go in pass protection. Cobb is a late Day 2 prospect.

WEAKNESSES:  Lacks bulk for a running back. Does not possesses great top-end speed and not overly elusive in the open field. Does not have the strength and power to carry the load or push the pile. Only possesses adequate overall ball skills as a receiver. Struggles to sustain his blocks.

As I said, in terms of his "numbers" he's average...but he's a baller that has game skills.  I'd take one at Auburn like him every year.

He also had a broken hand he got last week in practice. That alone looked like it caused him to miss a open field tackles.

And really, that play was over with the second the ball was snapped. The only way it was getting in the endzone was maybe a pitch to the outside and beat the DB to the pylon. The DL had crashed the OL, so Ingram had nowhere to go but over the pile, and guess what? There were 3 packers there to meet him as he left the ground. It's a pretty good bet that when Ingram is out there, the ball is going between the tackles. GB knew what was about to happen, and they played it perfectly. NO should have known better.

The Auburn in me says he's doing rather mediocre.  The NFL fan in me wants a trade.

He's out of position.  He never tackles backwards...he's usually in on the "I'm being dragged forward" kind of tackles.

He's great on special teams, but he simply isn't cut out for starting NFL linebacker.

I laughed my ass off when Mark Ingram failed to score a touchdown on the 4th and goal.  I don't dislike the Saints...I just hate Alabama.

One last thing -

Why not put Pierre Thomas in?

I don't think Ingram makes more money.  Thomas was destroying Green Bay wanna be tacklers all night.  And he has a few years of experience

I think Thomas gets in, and the Saints win in overtime.

Pierre Thomas probably would've had a better chance, but up the middle?  No way either gets in.  Their interior line got their asses whipped all night.  ALL NIGHT.  I would have called a naked boot leg or sweep on that play, and give the running back a chance to go through a LB/DB as opposed to going through and offensive line that hadn't pushed the LOS all night.

Or maybe just give Drew a chance to win the game.  He was hot as hell.

He was one of the reasons our game with the Jellycats was so tight.
