Clausen threw a pick 6 and then on the ensuing drive went three and out.

EDIT - First two drives of the game.

Cam's warming up.  And my wife is calling me for dinner at the kitchen table.

Not tonight, babe.

So where did you go?

Dinner at the table.  That's where.  :poke:

Haha I did.  The wife's sick.  Our A/C is broken.  Not really a good time to piss her off.  But I did get to run in and watch the first few plays and saw most of the 2nd quarter.

Cam looks good.  His o-line is atrocious.  He can still make the first guy miss but when two or three NFL guys are sprinting untouched into the backfield, Cam can't do anything.

He's 5 of 12 for 120 yards with two bad drops by the receivers.  He missed a wide open guy in the endzone (overthrown), and they aren't letting him run at all.

Oh and Ziemba jumped offsides.

That about covers it.  He looked good on throwing ropes and the necessary dump offs when necessary.  He was getting no help from several of the receivers that couldn't catch a pillow from across the bed.  Never threatened to run the ball.  Never tried or had a chance too.

Pugh and Ziemba got some quality time, and Darvin got in a few plays blocking on punt coverage.  Pretty much it.

The arm strength differences where on full display for all to see.  The Carolina TV crew was all over the fact that Clausen simply wouldn't be capable of a few of the throws Newton tossed.

Thanks for the link savoy.
I read a critique afterwards as I got on the game late. The guy said Cam struggled in the redzone or as the field shrunk. Just wanted you guys to give your opinion of what you saw other than his obvious arm strength. He said Cam would do well to sit the season but a guy like that doesn't take into account the pure threat of Cam's ability to run and how that enhances his passing game. I don't think Cam should go afoot but if he turns it up a half dozen times /game at opportune times it changes the dynamic of the entire offense and how the defense has to play.

Cam had zero help from his offensive line.  I don't think it's fair to judge him at all based on this game.

If Cam had Deangelo Williams running in front of him along with Steve Smith and Jeremy Shockey catching, he would have put up better numbers in the red zone.

Ah see the guy didn't put out any info about the sitting veterans. I picked up the game when Anderson took the field and I looked for stats when it was over and read that thumbnail on Cam.

Also, I would imagine if Cam has the option to run the ball in the red zone, you are looking at a completely different score. I would be willing to bet they told him not to run at all.

I only saw the highlights, but yeah, it looked like they had him on "no run" orders.  I thought he looked pretty good in the short ESPN highlights.  A couple of nice throws down the field.

It would have just been an invitation for some DB or LB to blow his ass up for no good reason, probably.

I'm pretty interested to see how he performs if they turn him loose. 8/19 134 yards and no INTs isn't bad at all for a rookie outing, especially considering how little time these young guys had to actually work with their team and camp before the first pre-season game.

No good reason?  You mean being an NFL defender getting a shot at a QB isn't reason enough?

What an absolute dick.  You can tell in the photo how disingenuous he is by his smile.  He must have just tossed a bag full of pee into the stands.

True story.

I'm minding my own business in my cube, and I overhear a conversation between two corndogs. The one doing all the talking was Hispanic, so I guess she was more of an Empanada.

"I can't STAND that Cam Newton guy. He's going to be terrible in the NFL. I can't WAIT until he breaks his leg or something. He's such a smug little prick. Ugh!! I just HATE him!"

I finally roll my chair back and say "Are you just trying to coax me out of here for a comment?

She apparently didn't know I'm an Auburn guy.

"Why? You LIKE him??"

"Of course I do!"

"Why?"

"I'm an Auburn fan! And he's awesome!"

"Ugh! I didn't know that. But that shouldn't matter. I hate him so much. He's so smug. He's so damn cocky! Prove something first, then maybe you can be that cocky."

"I'd say he's proven quite a bit already. Not quite in the NFL yet, but it's coming, trust me. What makes you think he's so cocky anyway?"

"He just smiiiles. Cocky little jerk is always just smiiiling."

"Heaven forbid he be happy. Can't have him look like he's having fun out there. Much better to scowl at everyone."

"He's just cocky."

I roll my chair back into my cube.

He's only cocky if he doesn't play for your team.

Truth.  Other fans (see teams AU beat last season) hate him.

If he played for LSU/Georgia/Bama/MSU, I would have hated his cocky ass.

Now you would just rather have his cock in your ass.

Ya'll are spelling it wrong.  It's peccary and it looks like this.  What Cam Newton has to do with a small pig is beyond me.

I know some Corndogs that have never really said anything bad about AU to me........then Cam shows up, whips everyone's ass and they hate AU and him.

Agree, I have always thought if people didn't hate you, then you weren't doing something right.

Heard more hating of Cam through the cubes.

A woman was saying her husband picked Vick and later Cam in his fantasy draft. She bitched at him that she did not approve of either of his QBs and demanded that he drop them both.
