Title: If you only had one shot...
Post by: Kaos on August 08, 2011, 01:03:34 PM
Saw this somewhere else and it was an interesting concept (at least to me).

If you could go back in time and change one play in Auburn history, what would it be?

Would Tiffin miss the FG?
Would Bo get the ball on fourth down (or would Dye kick the winning FG instead)?
Would Vaughn make a kick at LSU?
Would Ben catch the TD pass against Ole Miss in 2003?

My personal choice?

Tommy Hodson throws an incompletion on the last play at LSU.

Dennis Riddle fumbles on 1st and Goal, under a minute in the 1996 Iron Bowl, and it's recovered by Takeo Spikes.

Assuming the seasons afterwards stay the same for Auburn -

Roy Upchurch drops the pass from McElroy in the last minute of the 2009 Iron Bowl.

The Hodson thing would have put Auburn in the MNC game.  They had 6 more regular season games after that and gave up a grand total of 28 points.  The next 3 games were shutouts, including UF on the road.

For me, it's a tie between that and Tiffin's kick.  Lowest I've ever felt leaving a stadium.  Faggot

Second would be the 2009 Iron Bowl.

You were married in 1988?  I knew once you figured out how the dictate you would go crazy.

Uh, no.  Was not paying attention - in mtng.  I was thinking the fucking 2007 game with Les's clock management issue.

THAT would be in my top three... he would no longer be coaching at LSu if that had not resulted in a TD.

Yall took my first 2 choices, but how about

Pass interference...#21 defense (Deion Sanders).  First and goal,Auburn.

Yes, this was the worst Auburn loss in my memory. IMO no other compares for sheer disappointment as a fan and I think Coach Dye would say it was his personal worst loss. I was distressed for weeks after that one and have that play committed to auto-recall anytime another team is threatening to score on us in a close game.
Don't get beat by the RB under the post.

That was mine. Except it would have been PI Dedrick Dodge (since he is the one that committed it). Or pass complete to Freddy Weygand. First and goal.
