It is full of gimmicks. But it works. Who cares if it's unconventional as long as it moves the chains and puts points on the board?
Fans often seem to forget that a Malzahn-type offense doesn't require a dual threat QB. Hell, Chris Todd had a noodle for an arm, a skull that featured more empty space than DeSoto Caverns, and apparent lead implants in his legs. Auburn STILL moved the ball and had one of the more potent offenses in the conference.
I wish our scheme was more similar to yours. Phillip Sims could run it well. I don't put so much hope in the other cat. McCarron couldn't run a lemonade stand. I'm afraid he'd make Todd look like Johnny U in any offense.

Guess it depends on the definition of "gimmicks". In one sense, every offense is full of gimmicks. Malzahn's offense is his own interpretation of Wing T and Single Wing football. Old time, football from back in the day. Whatever...it works. In reality, there's nothing new under the sun in football with it's current rules...only window dressing.
