There was a time when I would naturally pull for a brother SEC team in games should Auburn not be involved. Not Alabama, of course, fuck them. They can eat shit and die. I hope they lose everything, including the canned food drive, the blood drive and hot dog eating contest.
But other than those assholes, I typically supported the SEC against out of conference competition.
After last season? After the pure hate shown us, after the way our conference brothers turned on us? I'm in a different place.
I used to like Georgia. Second favorite SEC team. Fuck Georgia.
Mississippi State? If they were playing a herd of rabid hyenas, I'd cheer for the hyenas. That's tough.
Florida? Fuck Florida. Mostly Urban Meyer who's gone, but fuck them anyway.
Ole Miss? Hate Ole Miss.
Tennessee? Ambivalent.
South Carolina? Ambivalent. Spurrier wasn't an ass, really. And they liked the taste of their teeth when we kicked them in.
Arkansas? Mostly ambivalent.
Vandy? Kentucky? Who?
And finally LSU. After all the whining and bitching they did for years about fake pass interference, etc. LSU really doesn't bother me any more. Miles was respectful of Cam, expressed his admiration and awe. Yeah, there's that moronic Tigerdrippings site, but taking that as the voice of LSU fans is like thinking Tammy speaks for Auburn.
I'll be an LSU fan when they play Oregon. Part hate for Oregon.
Against the rest, though?
I'm for Penn State against Bama. I'm for Texas A&M against Arkansas. I'm for UAB against State (which has a ridiculously easy schedule in 2011). I'll be for Boise against UGA. I'll be for FSU against Florida.

Used to cheer for the SEC in OOC games. Not anymore. I hope they all lose. 2004 soured me on cheering for the SEC for the most part and 2010 was the nail in the coffin.

This will really be put to the test soon. When Auburn loses a few games this year (which is normal considering all of the changes), these SEC "brethren" will say Auburn is getting its comeuppance. This hate won't ever end and I know that now.
I take comfort in knowing the SEC streak of BCS championships will end with Auburn though. Ain't none of these mothereffers going to win it this year. Too many questions for every team. But I digress...

After 2004, I thought the SEC had to prove itself. Florida had to win the 2006 BCSCG because no one gave the SEC any credit.
Well we've established our reputation as the top conference in the country.
After the way our "brethren" treated us last year (and this offseason), I have no problem watching their sorry asses tumble the SEC past the WAC.

All this venom only because your "brothers" in the conference refused to polish Newton's knob? We all know that was partly due to jealousy. While they had a Chris Relf, Greg McElroy, or Jordan Jefferson under center, you guys had the greatest player to ever play the game of college football. To say that he was a man amongst boys is a gross understatement. And while Tim Tebow is not in the same stratosphere as Cam Newton, he was public enemy #1 of the SEC and that was with him wearing the Jesus pieces.
Yet, for every ounce of talent, Cam had an equal amount of controversy. Combine the poopstorm that was his recruitment with him carrying Patrick Peterson into the endzone, winning at Alabama after trailing 24-0, and hanging 49 on Georgia... and of course LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and the rest of his SEC victims will hate him.
I see no reason to let fans' collective disdain for all things Cam plop you into the same pot as the pussies of other conferences. I understand why you're pulling for the nail, PSU, against the hammer in the second week of the season -- but, surely don't tell me that you live under the illusion that the fans of Texas A&M, Boise State, FSU, and others think Cam Newton, Brutha Cecil, and Auburn University are squeaky clean. The SEC was taking the whippings, but the nation wasn't involved in a coast-to-coast circle jerk to Cam Newton highlights. He's held in low regard in every city, town, and hamlet not named Auburn, College Park, or Charlotte.

Agreed on all, except I hate UT too. Bad experience tailgating up there about 12 or so years ago. (Tubs first year I think)
Used to like Ole Miss until their fans sitting near us in Jordan Hare acted like fools over Tubs leaving them to come to AU.
I've never been to Red Stick, but the LSU fans that come to Auburn have always been ok in my experience.
Basically only "ambivalent" towards Vandy and UK.

I don't think Kaos is talking only about opposing fans. The institutions themselves have spurned Auburn. The Male SEC Athlete of the Year farce was just the latest illustration.

For me? It's Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, USCe and Tennessee ("the enemy of my enemy is my best friend")..the rest of the SEC can go Fuck themselves.

I was paired with a hardcore LSU season ticket holder while playing 18 in Gulf Shores a few days ago. Guy was from Baton Rouge and had a hell of an accent. Had a damn good time. Probably the best person I've ever been paired with.
Once we separate ourselves from the internet world, people are genuinely much better to deal with.
