Running back Mike Blakely transfers to Auburn
Published: Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 10:22 AM

Four-star running back Mike Blakely, who signed with Florida in February, has transferred to Auburn.

He has enrolled and will have to sit out the 2011 season, according to AuburnUndercover.com and AuburnSports.com and Inside the Auburn Tigers.

Blakely chose Florida over Auburn during the recruiting process. He was granted a full release from his scholarship by Florida.

The 5-foot-9, 198-pound running back was considered a four-star prospect.

He rushed for more than 1,400 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a senior despite a lingering ankle injury.

Blakely told Scout this during his original recruitment:

"Auburn, I went there four times before I took my official. It is always fun. The game atmosphere was nice. It was crazy because I had people I didn't even. It was close between Auburn and Florida."

It sux that he never set foot on UF's campus as an enrolled student athlete, but still has to sit out a year.  Wonder if there's a potential waiver on such a situation?

This only solidifies the fact that the hammer is about to drop.  This along with Malzahn staying at Auburn is just too much evidence to ignore.  The NCAA is definitely running a super secret underground investigation.

We're screwed!!!

Thats a very good question. It would seem there would be.

Sitting out ain't a bad thing.

Come back as a 29-year old freshman in 2012 behind junior Mike Dyer?

Here is my thing about him sitting out.  Supposedly he hurt his shoulder?  Can someone confirm that?  If that is the case, then it's not a big issue for him to sit.  I know we would like to have him immediately, but I remember Fumblin Fannin and his hurt shoulder and would rather have this kid healthy if we are going to take him.

Shane: Huh huh huh, Pawwl what are those Aubies doin'?  Do they just have an assembly line of boosters giving out $100.00 handshakes..down in Gainesville now?  Huh huh..with Trooper Taylor at the front waving his towel?  Huh huh huh...did Blakely ever go to class Pawwl?  Maybe someone should look into that and see if this cat's ever even been to a class in his life.

I don't know Shane...could be

And Pawwl, these Aubies think they're gettin' away with murder but everyone knows when those taped conversations on Milton McGregor come out, it'll plainly show em' funneling money to Blakely's mom.  Huh huh...Has anyone looked into Blakely's mom, Pawwl?

Well, now Shane, let's be fair.  Bringing McGregor nto this is a bit of a stretch.

You think so Pawwl?

Yeah, more likely the reason Bobby Lowder resigned was to take over recruiting at Auburn

Huh huh huh....

I still wonder if he's a "plant" or if he honestly labors under the delusion that he can cause the NCAA to do something by flapping his cock holster ever day on Finebaum.

No doubt on the plant.  However, look past the fact that his job as a plant is to be an assclown and stir the pot.  Just like I-man, Legend etc.  At least I-man and Legend have the ability to focus their assclownery on a variety of subjects.  Shane talks about Auburn EVERY single call.  Plant or not...assclown or not....I truly think the guy is obsessed with Auburn.  Hell, I don't even care to talk about Auburn as much as he does.

This pretty well covers Jim as well.

Blakely did set foot on UF's campus, he was a early enrollee.  The question now is, did he sign his NLOI?  He didn't participate in any practices due to his shoulder surgery.

Sadly I think he did sign his NLOI. No worries he will sit out, his shoulder will heal and he will be ready to roll next year. Right now the key to your season this year is Russell Wilson. If he comes to allbarn mark it down 10 win season maybe more. The kid is legit.

I've heard that he'll be ready to Roll come practice time, as far as his shoulder is concerned.  Rivals is talking about putting him in Auburn's '11 Signing Class when they re-rank the classes after qualifying, sometime in August.

You think?  Don't get me wrong I want the best we can get and if he's it then great but I just can't say I have been overwhelmed by his resume'.

Agree. It seemed that there was much more excitement at the news of landing Cam Newton. His resume didn't include ACC player of the year but did include a JUCO NC. I think a part of this just comes with how Cam performed last year. Some expectations may have been fucked with a little bit.
