So very hard to take a animal (best friend) on a trip where you know she's not coming back. Tumor on her spine.
She will be missed.

Sucks man.

Sorry to hear that man. Sucks. Hang in there.
-
Oh man. Hate to hear that. So sorry.
-
Sorry to hear that. How old was she? Nothing like the love and companionship of a dog. We've got 3 inside dogs and they're all pretty cool but one decided from day 1 that he was my personal companion. Goes everywhere in the house I go following from room to room. Real protective of me when the others try to get in on the attention. When I grill out (which is every other night) he goes in and out of the house with me every trip. Coolest dog I've ever had. I'll just shut it down for about a week if/when he goes.
-
Hate to hear it, man. There is nothing worse than making that trip to the vet, other than the return trip.

She was 11-We could have gone for the back surgery (money was not a problem)-but there was no Guarantee and then we still have to go through putting her to sleep. Since we have no kids our Aniamals are our kids. Been a tough day at work. She hated when I would watch Auburn Football-I have been know to yell-cuss-scream at the TV. During the games she would be in the furtherest corner of the yard. She knew when 1/2 time was. She come in for a few.
-
Speaking of Auburn games, my in-laws used to have this gnarly little chihuahua/weiner dog/pit bull mix. When we would watch AU games and invariably either raise hell about something or cheer wildly...this dog would freakin' attack whoever was making the most noise. It got hilarious because he wasn't big enough to do any damage but it was funny to see who could get him riled up the most.
-
So sorry, man.
I can't imagine what that day is going to be like. My dog is almost 2 years old now, so I know (hope) it's a long way away.

Keeping my office door shut and the XM a little louder than normal.
It may be a while before I get another (we still have one at home) lost our other dog 2006-Day after X-mas.
Today I wonder if 11 years of Joy is worth these few days of pain.

It is worth it. And the bottom line is, no matter how you feel about it now, if someone handed you a new puppy, you'd take to it immediately. You have to....you have no choice. Dogs have that knack. You won't forget the one you lost but a new one will sure ease the sting.
-
I hate this.
So sorry, dwe. I know it's the worst. They say you're supposed to take some comfort in what a good life you gave them and blah blah blah. That's not true. It's your job to give them a good life when you decide to own one.
Looks like you did your job and she was happy. Still not going to make you miss her any less.
I'm going to shut up before I fucking start crying myself.
Sorry, darlin.

Of course now I wonder if I should have done more. She just had a check up in Jan. They didn’t detect anything. My next dog is gonna have to speaka the English. It’s so hard to tell when there in pain.

You could have missed the pain, but you'd of had to miss the dance...
-
After we lost my first most favorite dog, Aubie (choc lab), it took me 15 years to find another as good. Now we have Abbie ( 1 yr old yellow lab). Wonderful dog. The good ones are few and far between, but well worth it.
Time will help.

Too soon? Always too soon for Garth Brooks.

If he had just stopped there and not tried to be N'SYNC country, you are would be bawling your eyes out right now.

Thanks for all the kind words. Believe it or not it helps. I find it amazing how attached we get to our animals.
-
Sorry, man. Never easy losing a dog. The only time when we can chose our relatives is when we pick out a dog.

My dog (had accidents) shit in my house-ate my shoes (mostly my wifes) ate sheetrock-and got a hold of my Auburn foxbot-got it back before any real damage.
Most of my relatives still suck. Had to loan one $5000.00-Got it back thank god.
-
I'm sorry for your loss. It's always hard to loose a good, trusty canine friend. I've gone through that difficult time before too.

Me - "Oh man. Long day. Glad to be sprawled out on this couch."
Dog - Grunts and then snuggles her nose under my arm and cuddles up next to me.
Wife from upstairs with the door closed to whatever room she is in - "HONEY, WILL YOU COME UP HERE?"
(Silence)
Wife - "HEY! I JUST PUT A NEW LAMP SHADE ON THE LAMP IN THE GUEST BEDROOM. I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU LIKE IT."
(Dog grunts and shoves her nose deeper underneath me)
And that's why we love our pets more than anything.
-
Sorry to hear man. I put my bud of 13 years down a few years back. Same type circumstances. Cancer with no guarantee that surgery would fix.
A friend of mine had to put his yellow lab down too...cancer. He waited too long and let the tumor grow too big trying to hang on, and she suffered.
You did what you had to do, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Wife had wanted a mini dachshund from day one. I refused b/c growing up I had Labs and Blue Heelers. I wanted a manly dog. I gave in and hated the little bastard for the first month. Had sinus surgery which caused me to be laid up in the recliner for a week. Oscar sat there with me all week and instantly became "my dog". Same thing, follows me every step of the way and has even gone as far as laying his head on my foot when falling asleep when I sit outside so he will know when I get up. Jumps on me everyday when I walk in and gets up in my lap and tries to lick my face off. I too will shutdown when he goes.
DWE: Get another dog, give it a few, but get another dog. It will make you feel better.

Agree. Grieve but move on. It took me a while to find the right dog after Jeb was put down. I like dogs, but not all dogs. I think I took in and gave away of 2 or 3 before a client gave me Buddy, my current dog of about 6 years now. a stray black lab she had found. It took a while for us to gee haw, but he was never any trouble and we just grew to become buds. I may not have taken the grieving time I needed.

My dad has one of those. Meanest thing I've ever encountered in my life. She bites me at least twice every time I visit. I'm going to put her down at the first opportunity.
-
Definitely get another dog. Not only will you feel better, but if you get a rescue or a pound puppy, you are saving a life. SO many furry babies need good homes and are just begging to love someone. We have two but if I had my way, we would have five or six. (Damn corndog)
In my opinion, opening your home to a dog in need earns you major brownie points with the Man Upstairs.

Most Likley will-We still have one and he needs someone to play with-3 cats and one dog-I think the cats are teaming up on him.

She must be ghetto-ized to hate the po-po.

I don't know, she's all white. I figured she would love me.

All I'm saying is, she's much more friendly when she's asleep.

Which is when you use her for Taser-practice. That would explain a lot.

That's what cats are for.

Hey, I started out mopping the floor just like you guys. But now... now I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries; then the grill. And pretty soon, I'll make assistant manager, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in.
