GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Will Muschamp has finalized his contract.
Muschamp received a $750,000 signing bonus, making his first year of the five-year deal worth more than $3.25 million. His average salary will be about $2.75 million annually.
The five-year deal includes $250,000 in base salary; $1.7 million annually for television and radio contracts; $260,000 annually from the school's equipment contracts; $200,000 annually from the school's apparel contract with Nike; $61,000 annually for an expense account; and $29,400 annually in pension.
He would also get a $500,000 retention bonus if he's still with the program on Jan. 31, 2016, after the final year of the deal.
The contract includes a $500,000 buyout clause and is full of bonus incentives, including $250,000 for winning the Bowl Championship Series title game and $75,000 for winning the Southeastern Conference title game.
If Florida fires Muschamp, he would receive $2 million a year for every year left on the contract.
Thats a pretty good deal for a first year coach.
Here is CGC off of wiki
For the BCS Championship winning 2010 season, Chizik earned a base salary of $2.1 million plus bonuses worth an additional $1.1 million, including $500,000 for 13 wins, an SEC title, a BCS bowl appearance and winning the AP SEC Coach of the Year and an additional $600,000 for winning the BCS Championship Game

Yes, and hope he raises the game of the SEC East teams to remove all doubt when it comes to MNC match-ups for a long time. I like his animated spirit though not sure how it translates to a HC position. Should be entertaining.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Muschamp will be Ron Zook version 2.0.

I was down on Gene as well. We see how that worked out

Call me a hater but I never really liked Muschamp. I've never thought he was that great of a coach. I just recall watching our guys getting burned all the time under him and not once did he seem to teach DB's how to look back for the ball. I think the guy covers up lack of coaching by blitzing all the time.
Honestly, and I could be proven totally wrong, but I just don't see Muschamp doing anything but taking Florida back to the Zook days. I think Florida made a mistake by getting away from the spread with this guy well, that plus hiring of Dunken donut's Charlie to run the O.
Me thinks Florida fans aren't going to be happy in a few years.

I always have a problem when school the size and stature of Florida hires a guy who has never been a head coach of so much as a pee wee football team before. Yes, there are some of examples where it did work out. Mark Richt, for one, has had a pretty good measure of success up until lately. But being a head coach is night and day removed from being an assistant, regardless of whether you're the "Assistant Head Coach in Waiting". You make ALL the decisions and you answer to some pretty powerful and influential people.

THIS...
Chizik was a better DC than Muschamp while here and at Texas. And Muschamp's total resume at Texas was decent/good, but his DB's regularly got beat in the clutch. Just like they did at Auburn. But for that to happen in the Big 12 - it really doesnt impress me much. It appeared Texas took a step back statistically on D as a whole with him as compared to what Chiz did there (see 04 at AU, 05 at Texas). I like him personally and I like his enthusiasm but I think he's one of the most overhyped coaches out there. Just my .02.
