Excellent read and write up by Doyel.
I like how he frames his case and structures his argument. You may remember him last fall as one of the few national journalists who defended Cam and Auburn. He also waged a personal war with Gayer Evans over shitty journalism. He writes for cbs sportsline.

Doyel is good. And Chiz hit it right with the jockeying comment. We know Fairley is a game changer. Bowers is the rush end sack artist and Peterson is going to be as good as it gets. I also like the LB from A&M, Miller and either Green or Julio, I can't tell which is best because we never defended either after the first five yards. Those are the five or six I think will go earliest with Cam in the top three.
IMO Ryan Mallett is going to to go 1st round (Minnesota?) in spite of the talk or lack of it. I know that sounds laughable to many but we are talking about two different levels of the same game. He stands in there pretty tough, can move in the pocket but is incredibly slow. SO WHAT, he's a machine!
As for Gabbert being more NFL ready than Cam I guess it could be true, but I will be absolutely stunned if Cam isn't the first QB taken. I just think Carolina and Buffalo are playing a game with the same two guys in mind...from Auburn.

Fairley is good. No doubt about it. Better than Dareus? I guess a lot of that is subjective and in the eye of the beholder...the scout. NFL is big on being a perfect fit for the particular scheme. Size, build, quickness, hands, strength, and the combination all factor in to how they come to that decision. And the difference in whether Dareus or Fairley goes before the other can come down to which team that want's the particular combination is first in the draft order. The difference in being #3 or #8 is negligible. Dareus may be good, but Fairley will be played in a scheme where he's much more dynamic.

A lot of chatter about the Titans are really pressing to get Cam at #8. So where does that leave Nick, #3? That would be Denver? I could def live with that.

Did you not see Arky's bowl game? Mallet is horrible if he has to move. Minnesota has a horrible line. If they had been better, Favre would be coming back for another year. That would be a horrible combination for MN.

One game is meaningless. I don't know how good or bad Mallet will be at the next level. Certainly the OL he has, and system he's in will be huge factors. His mobility won't be a huge factor. Many of the greatest are/were not that mobile. Gotta say, he's better than what they have in MN now though.

The OL is subpar and we know Peterson makes a whole lot outta nothing. They probably want to distance themselves from Detroit but they can't expect to improve beyond last seasons 6-10 record w/o a QB. I'm guessing that bringing in a new HC and a live arm will inspire them to new heights. Team's can always use the Seahawks as a measuring stick.

And I don't think they can make trades or sign free agents until the labor mess straightens out. The rumors were possibly McNabb to the Vikings.
