Title: Disney World
Post by: Townhallsavoy on March 07, 2011, 01:34:43 PM
So, for spring break next week, my parents are paying (all inclusive) to take my wife and me to Disney World.  I've been told by numerous people that it's a lot of fun to go with just adults, but I'm having reservations.

Anyone been without kids and enjoyed themselves?  Any suggestions on what we should do?

Probably going at one of the most crowded times of the year....but, you should have no problem having a great time with just adults.  Me and a buddy take a fishing trip down that way every year and hit up Disney/Universal at leats one night.  Last year, we saw 3DD at Universal.  Downtown Disney is pretty cool too.  Lat time I went, they had a bad ass adults only section..bands, bars and we got flashed (By women) on two different occasions.  To me, Epcot is more of an adult themed park.  Be prepared to drink a beer from every country and be wobbly when you come out.

A word of caution, do NOT do this and then get on Spaceship Earth Ride.  There is one part where you are moving at about 2mph while the visuals completely surrounding you make it look like you are moving at about 300mph.  This coupled with your already shaky ability to process visual cues to maintain balance will have you going from 0 to hurling in about 5 seconds.  Be warned!

I think it would be a bajillion times more fun without kids... you can't ride any of the cool rides if you ahve little kids in tow.

We are taking the Munchkins for their first visit in May, and as I was on the phone for over an hour with the Disney lady, I thought "I am spending damn near half my annual bonus on a trip with my kids.  C and I could go to Europe for what this is costing me.  But hey, it's the Happ-Happ-Happiest Fucking Place on Earth", right?"

So if someone else is footing the bill, hell yeah.

i'm assuming @ disney world you can do the same @ disneyland.  when we took the kiddo's plus the in-laws in '09...the skirt, the in-laws and i utilized the parent pass.  as an example...indiana jones ride...kids not at height...three adults would ride while 1 adult stayed with the kids.  the three adults would ask the ride attendant for a parent pass.  when finished riding the other adult plus 1 more adult could advance to the front of the line with the parent pass in hand.  we would do this on the rides our son could ride too but not our daughter.  the adult using the pass would take the 4 year old for back to back (e.g. tower of terror).

you would be surprised but your daughter will be able to ride most rides.

btw...disneyland > wdw.

We have used a slightly different in-law riding system in the past.  They are older and don't like to ride much, so late in the day they would take little man back with them to the room so mommy and daddy could do the fun rides.  Oh, we would actually ride the amusement park rides too.

I do all the rides I can when I go but we're usually there in the summer or late spring...therefore...It's a Small World is a ride we do about 12 times in a row simply because it's about 60 degrees in there.  I'm like, "Move it kid, I'm not gettin' off".

The Hubs has done Disneyland many times when he lived in Cali - but he has never been to Disney World.  So off to Orlando we go.

I had seen the whole Parent pass thing but was not sure how it worked.  K might be able to ride most things, but I am not sure if she will.

So she and I ride while Daddy stays with S and then Daddy and K can go to the front of the line while I stay with S?  That is cool.

Still - a lot of Benjamins for a trip that involves kids and does not involve copious amounts of Spanish wine enjoyed on a balcony overlooking the Med...

We're going to Disney World around Memorial Day. Only problem now is my wife is about 13 weeks pregnant right now, so that cuts down alot of what she can do. My wife and her family have been about a million times and love it, but this will be the first time for me and my son.

That's the one.  At least the Fed gives you your money back in a somewhat timely manner, Alabama is like the stoner from Dazed and Confused, "Can you spot me $10?  I'll pay you like Tuesday and sh*t."
