The Mainstream Media's unrelenting attack on everything Auburn continues.

Much of the attention following the Combine has been centered on the team interviews with quarterbacks Cam Newton, Ryan Mallett and others, but according to three sources from different clubs, it is another high profile player who set off the most alarms at the Combine.
Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley was described as a "JUCO kid to the core" by one longtime personnel man, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
By "JUCO" the source is, of course, referring to the fact that Fairley played junior college football (Copiah-Lincoln Community College) prior to starring at Auburn. Asked to elaborate why being a "JUCO kid" is a bad thing, the source explained.
"Just because a player went to a junior college doesn't mean, he's a bad guy or won't be successful at this level, obviously. There are lots of junior college players who have gone on to great NFL careers."
The stereotype is that JUCO players aren't as smart, hard-working, and well coached. They are also viewed by many clubs as players most likely to have had off-field troubles in the past and potentially more in the future. The source refused to go into specifics, but said, "Everyone is coming down hard on the quarterback, but [Fairley] is the one to worry about."
Despite measuring in at a shade under 6-4 and lighter than expected (291 pounds), Fairley "looked soft," according to the source. This first impression of Fairley's conditioning was only reinforced by his "limited" understanding of defensive schemes during team interviews. The source also referred to the fact that Fairley doesn't use his hands well and has been able to be successful largely due to his natural talent.
"Oh, I'm not saying he's not talented. Hell, he might be the most talented player in the whole damn thing. But, he's no slam dunk at this level. Not the slam dunk people who watched him tear up the SEC or in the big game [BCS National Championship] might think."
The other sources weren't as forthcoming with details, but didn't sound surprised when I told them I heard that Fairley was slipping down boards and that, as such, I had pushed him from No. 2 in the mock draft I'd written prior to the Combine to No. 8 in my current one.

Sounds terrible, but dropping from the #2 pick all the way down to #8? Damn...hope he recovers.

Just the fact that they report it that way says all you need to know. Auburn go run the table again next year and CBS will still be sucking Saban's dick.
This is a smear campaign against everything Auburn. All Nick Fairley did was work his butt off in JUCO to get to Auburn. Work for a year to get in shape and mind to play. And when he played, he destroyed people that the media loves so therefore, he's dumb and slow and fat and thug and needs to not be drafted.
CBS sports - Crimson Broadcasting System. HATING RACIST MOTHERFUCKERS!
Pardon my horrid language.

Yeah, no shit. I really hope this doesn't screw him up for the rest of his life. #8 in the 1st rd of the NFL Draft is just terr'ble.

I will go ahead and guess that the personnel making the ocmments are from the teams that have the first 10 draft picks... I would like to say that they fucking suck and the reason they suck is due to their talent evaluation and what not. Look at the Patriots...These same idiots were saying Danny Woodhead couldn't make it in the NFL...fucking tards.

Exactly, and thats the silver lining in this. First round of course is guaranteed money, so wouldn't one want maybe to slide a little to late first round in hopes of being picked up by a pretty decent team?

This.
Oh, hey, guys... that Cam kid sucks ass too!!! You better leave him for the Patriots or Colts to grab up. HAHA on them, right?
-
Could you see Cam learning under Manning his first year or two? Mr. Newton could become a verily dangerous man in teh Sunday footballs.

Peyton seems like the kind of guy who is going to go out on top, and not pull a Fav-ruh. Haivng spent all his time on one team, I think he will want to ensure the success that comes after he leaves.
Tutoring Cam...? That thought rhat thar gets me all... well, you know...
-
I suppose these guys know the success rate for JUCO players and the old Fairley might lead them to think he's soft and lacks the NFL acumen but this is a very hungry man, capable of playing the end position giving him even greater value. I'm going to enjoy watching the best NFL tackles try to keep him off their QB.
-
Not to mention that since Coach Rock is in the NFL now, Fairley might either wind up playing for or against him again... how AWESOME would that be?!?!?!?! Motivation to bust his ass either way.
Nick is gonna be FINE.
Where are the Titans in the draft order? Naybe that's why Nick is slip sliding... so Rock can get him...

I am glad you pointed that out.
I am not sure about this one so help me out. Was Nick on Auburn's team last year?

Yes. He was in the rotation and had some pretty decent moments in 09'. The talk from the coaches was about his incredible ability but it always came back to a lack of consistency and playing at 100% all the time. They apparently got to him or he woke up.

I thought I heard Rock talking about him last year. Rock said then he was the best Auburn had if he decided to work. That Rock is a great coach. I like Pelton as well. He will be a nice addition.
