Title: Tell a lie long enough, and loud enough..
Post by: JR4AU on March 01, 2011, 07:56:48 AM
http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2011-02-28/reports-rumors-surface-about-cam-newtons-father

From the article: "—says he heard tapes of Cecil Newton selling his son and that it’s obvious Cam is in the room"

Tranlation:  you can't hear Cam, but Im going to tell you over and over it's obvious he's there so that's what you believe before you ever hear it.

That is IF these tapes even exist, and IF this fool has heard them.

I think the writer of that article sees the irony just like the rest of us. I'm just not sure what was even the purpose of that article.

I took it as a short blog calling bullshit on Moore's claim, and pointing Moore out as a fool.

Are these tapes reel to reel or straight cassettes?

I think they also reveal who really shot JFK.

It wasn't Sirhan Sirhan.  He doesn't remember.

I think you're right. Like pointed in a different thread, the national media isn't biting on this except for a select few whose site traffic is at snails pace.

Again this is all old news meant to stir the shit milkshake.  If there are tapes, the NCAA heard them back when they interviewed Bond.

This is the whole point.  Bond claims tapes.  Bond was nterviewed by MSU's compliance dept.  Probably Auburn's compliance dept. The SEC, NCAA and FBI.  If there were any 8-tracks or anything on them, we'd know.  Plus, you don't withhold evidence from the FBI.  You go to jail for shit like that.

I think the matter is closed, I think it has been closed since the reinstatement and I think the Bamers will try to hold on to the hope that something like a secret tape will surface so their little game of connect-the- dots will continue because that's the only way Auburn could turn the cfb world on its ear as it did in 2010. The people that thought Alabama could win the SEC and even play for the NT had they beaten Auburn regard this hope as a fact. And knowing this, NOTHING could persuade them otherwise. It's like the Python bit on witches...

and there's only one way to deal with a witch.

While we all know what it is  this shit gets heard natiowide, and most only hear "tapes reveal Cam knew".  Its why cocksuckers like Moore do this.  They play on the public believing the headline and not paying attention to the details.

This is the big problem.

I had to go to some engagement party over the weekend for one of the old lady's friends in Atlanta.

So naturally I had to converse with a bunch of douchebags I have virtually nothing in common with. So, the standard small talk always gravitates to football. An Ole Miss fan, a Georgia fan, and a guy that went to some community college in Georgia and "only kind of follows college", but is "more of an NFL guy."

I didn't have time in the small talk to address all of their wild misconceptions. At least not without looking like I was the one with my head in the sand.

Constant comments about how Cam's troubled past would cause him problems with his draft status. About how "He flat out said the money was too good at Auburn." About how he got kicked out of Florida for academic issues. About how Milton McGregor led several recruits to winning gambling machines.

Doesn't matter that not a single one of those claims have any validity whatsoever. That anything beyond "one unnamed source" from Thayer "I am on a mission from God to destroy Auburn University" Evans or Sports By "TMZ but less credible" Brooks. At best. The rest are purely wild-assed message board/Finebaum caller conspiracy theories.

All because, exactly as you said, your Joe Schmo hears the headlines, reads the quick jabs on message boards, etc., and just assumes they're true.

My friend experienced the same in San Diego.  He was at a business conference, and someone made the "oh, you're the school that buys football players" when he found out my friend went to Auburn.  The same person then gave a presentation to the conference and made reference to meeting people from all over the country like "the guy that went to SMU, I mean, sorry, Auburn."  It got lots of laughs according to my friend.

Yep and you bring up a key point too.  You dont even have directly defend Cam, merely point out how all but the laptop issue is largely rumor and speculation, or unconfirmed allegations, and the will default to "he stole a laptop" which makes him guilty of all subsequent allegations, thereby creating a long track record of misdeeds, and its you who are crazy if you can't see that.

Yep, all of Cam's "track record" of allegations, results in a truth that has yet to be alleged:  Auburn paid Cam.
