Title: Well, they didn't love her THAT much...
Post by: Kaos on February 16, 2011, 01:19:25 PM
This headline irks me.

Fairhope native and beloved homeless woman died in Destin when hit by truck, coroner rules

Beloved homeless woman.  She was something like 57 years old apparently.  So beloved by everyone that she wandered the streets.

Beloved homeless woman.  Something about that doesn't jibe.  Not that the homeless are unloved or whatever.  Fuck, I don't know.  Just seems odd.

Quote
mid-15c., irken "be weary of, be disgusted with;" earlier intrans., "to feel weary" (early 14c.). Of uncertain origin, perhaps related to O.N. yrkja "work" (from PIE base *werg- "to work;" see urge (v.)), or M.H.G. erken "to disgust." Modern sense of "annoy" is from late 15c. An adjective, irk "weary, tired" is attested from c.1300 in northern and midlands writing.

I just loved her to death, she always seemed so cute chasing the trucks to stay warm.  Bless her little heart.

The part I like is that she is a native homeless woman from Fairhope and was killed in Destin.

So do I need to ask?  Was there like a homeless convention going on in Destin?  Is Destin the destination of the homeless during Winter?  Is the Destin bureau of tourism away of this?  Maybe BP wasn't who they need to be concerned about killing their community?

If you're going to be homeless, might as well be homeless on the beach.  Unless a hurricane's coming, then you need to evacuate your cardboard box and head inland.

Did she get hit in Fairhope and drug under the vehicle to Destin?  These are the kinds of questions that really need to be addressed.

Somebody needs to do some forensic testing on Wes' vehicle.
