I believe UA coaches put something similar up after the 2009 SECCG and Sugar Bowl losses. Seems to have worked out OK.

Yeah. I'm sure they'll never lose again after this sure fire original tactic.

Hate to bust your bubble, but this is a pretty standard ploy.  The relative motivational quotient is minimal.

You give it all the credit in the world when it works, but for about six years straight the motivational posters Bama coaches put up were nothing but wads of toilet paper.

This is a classic case of crowing your ass off when something comes to fruition, despite the fact that you were wrong 427 times prior.

How'd it work out when they plastered posters all over the wall to prevent the thumb from being feared?  Not so okay, huh?   Crapshoot.

But if Bama wins next season, I'm prepared to be reminded of how well this particular sheet of paper worked.

Y'all do realize that I have never claimed that Auburn would win the National Championship.....any year.  Also, I'm not as wrong on the number of things that some of you have conjured up.

But hey, who am I to point out the facts.

Nah, you were right about this one insignificant thing that was only brought up a time or two on the board. No one made it their life mission to point out that Auburn would never succeed on any level with this coaching staff or anything...

Kind of like Marshall Applewhite from the Heaven's Gate cult saying "Ok, I was wrong about the Hale Bop thing. But I knew it was going to snow yesterday!"

Does this not describe Shane from Sinner-Point to a tee?

But hey, who am I to point out the facts.

You don't deal in facts, you spin conjecture and supposition.

Only after the fact, only when one of the 432 things you claimed has actually ocurred do you then embrace it as fact.  The rest you disregard or pretend never to have said.

Yes, it's pretty standard. We've seen similar things numerous times in numerous locker rooms. My post wasn't meant to say "These pieces of paper is the only reason we won the NC, or might win next season". My simple point was "why not"? It's not like it's hurting anything.

For the record NH most of my posts still have the M in the MNC.  It is still mythical, but we won it, oh yeah and 28-27!   :poke:

You're right, it isn't hurting anything.

Just know who your Big Brother is.  The Auburn Mutha Fuckin' Tigers.  It's pretty sad when your own Moderator on bOL has to issue a statment that all of the Auburn topics need to be kept in one place.  This was right after or right before Jeffrey Lee made a statement or two directed at your retarded fanbase.

You'd have a point except for the "worked out pretty well..." taunt you attempted in the original.

In doing so you inferred some magical property to be attached to this one due to the alleged success of two other similar efforts (while ignoring the other 4300 that didn't have an impact and also the fact that there is no evidence of these two previous successful efforts).

Your current "why not" position is in direct contrast to the position you took at the outset.

Call it poor wording, or whatever you want. It wasn't meant as a taunt. It has worked out OK so far, meaning it hasn't hurt the team or caused any unwanted adverse effects on the team. It is but a small piece of the overall motivation for the team. If a piece of paper has more to do with our team's success than our coaches, then there is a problem. Which is why what I said wasn't mean as a "THIS PIECE OF PAPER AND THIS PIECE OF PAPER ONLY WILL DEFINE OUR TEAM FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS!". Next time I will make sure I put forth a lengthy, multiple paragraph explanation of exactly what I mean next time I make a slightly ambiguous post. I know you guys love that.

If ever I find myself in this similar predicament, my rule of thumb is to log off for a few hours and pretend like this never happened.

Or you could champion through a few more pages.

That is a sound business plan.  Only bad things can happen from hiring a hot 21 year old...or good things...depending on how you look at it.

makes sense, especially if the only way he can get six inches in his hand is to hold some other dude's junk
