Cam wins the Manning award:
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton wins Manning Award
By Ted Lewis, The Times-Picayune
Auburn's Cam Newton is the winner of the seventh Manning Award as the nation's top collegiate quarterback.
The award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and named in honor of the Manning family of quarterbacks, is the only one that takes bowl games into consideration.
But even before leading the Tigers to a 22-19 victory against Oregon in the BCS Championship game, Newton had done what it took to earn the award, accounting for 51 touchdowns (30 rushing, 20 passing and one receiving) with 1,483 rushing yards and 2,854 passing yards.
Newton, a junior who declared for the NFL draft last week had already won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp and Associated Press Player of the Year awards, the Maxwell Trophy as the nation's best player and the Davey O'Brien Award as the top quarterback.

Man I wish all of that BS would not have happened and Cam and family might, just might, have felt it was such a great experience that he came back for one more shot. I understand how tough it is to pass up the big bucks, but maybe after one more year, he could have gone 1 or 2. We'll be fine, but I'd be lying if I said I will not miss him. Such a phenomenal talent. And a genuinely good kid to boot.
