Title: KISS & Cows
Post by: Tiger Wench on January 17, 2011, 01:25:57 PM
KISS is playing this year at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Reliant Arena... before you laugh, this is an incredibly popular event, and huge acts play this thing every year.  Most of them are country but every year there are a few non-country acts as well.  The hot ticket last year was Taylor Swift, and Miley has played a few times.  ZZ Top is a frequent performer as well.

The KISS concert sold out in 12 minutes.

I got my tickets via FedEx today.  30 yard line, lower level.  I wanna rock and roll all night, baby!!

Don't know how many tickets, but back in the day I once read that George Strait sold the place out in record time.

As old as they are, they still put on a good show.   Worth seeing.  You need to know their music, though.  Some guys I knew who went to the Atlanta show said "why didn't they play their greatest hits, nobody wants to hear obscure stuff..."  They didn't play anything obscure to KISS fans with the exception of one track from the Sonic Boom CD.  The rest was vintage and spanned the catalog.

Paul's voice was pretty messed up in Atlanta, but that was their fourth show in five days if I remember right.

When I went to see Crue at Bayfest in Mobile, Vince had laryngitis.  He couldn't sing anything.  It was pretty bad.  Best bands I saw there were Skillet, Earth Wind and Fire and a little bit of Nelly.  Surprised that Nelly completely toned his act down.  Godsmack, Crue and quite a few others went full bore with the profanity.  Nelly censored himself.  thought that was a decent thing to do and didn't detract from the groove.

Found a pic of the guy at kissonline.com.

Not a bad job.  Should definitely have shaved.  His widow's peak is too short and stubby.  And he took the "wings" down the cheeks way too far.  Should have been much shorter. But I've seen a whole lot worse.

Heck yeah they do! My wife had been to countless concerts of Poison, Motley Crue, Guns 'N Roses, Metallica, and other groups of that sort. Yet, when I took her to see KISS in B'ham, she left that concert saying that it was the best, in your face, nonstop rocking concert she has ever been too. My wife became a KISS fan that night and wore out my Sonic Boom CD after that.

It was awesome.  And they played Beth.  Scratch one item off the bucket list.

LOVE THAT SONG.  And so did 75K of my closest friends.  You could not hear Eric over the crowd, which was actually a good thing.  Every person in there knew every word, and the mass singalong was cool.

They also pulled a couple of local military guys up on stage and talked about how much they loved and respected the folks serving in harms way to keep our country safe, then Paul led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, and he yelled the UNDER GOD! part.   This is Texas, after all - the place went NUTS.  Standing O for the military guys.

Tommy Thayer is hot.

Cannot imagine how Paul can still hit the high notes.

Gene sweats like a whore in church.  He must lose 10 pounds a concert, and this was an abbreviated show.  All the rodeo concerts are only 45 min to an hour, but they don't cost $200 a ticket either.  i paid $75 each through a broker for great seats and that price included a FABULOUS parking pass, the 2 hours of rodeo prior to the concert, admission to the fairgrounds and the concert.  Pretty sweet deal.

Kidding aside, I like Gene personally. Guy has great business sense if you listen to him talk. Dude hates the bums in our society.

There is a radio show that reads quotes from books and people have to determine if they are quotes from Gene or Dave Ramsey.  Hard to tell sometimes...
