Not listening but who is Christine Brennan? Sounds familiar.
-
She does the Olympics.
And she's an advocate for women's rights.
And she's written about the negative state of athletic role models with a specification on Tiger Woods and Ben Roethlisburger.
And I can use Wikipedia.

Just more sour grapes coming out. Quite pathetic actually.
I know we don't need this and it will never happen, BUT...it would be absolutely the TITZ if the NCAA would call a huge press conference on the "Auburn situation" and let everyone stew and specualte for a couple of days....then step up to the mic and tell the world, we have completed a thorough investigation. We know for a FACT that the only thing that happened was Cecil and Rogers tried to score some cash to steer Cam to MSU. We know for a FACT that this is all that happened and Auburn had zero involvement in any wrong doing and we know for a FACT that you're all full of shit.
Case closed.
Won't happen but why shouldn't it when we still are being slandered across the board?
-
Isn't she the one that said Erin Andrews brought the peeping tom on herself b/c of her sex appeal?

Her tuesday article in that joke of a paper was infuriating. It was, unfortunately, the only paper available at my hotel.

I'm trying to recall the Cecil Newton, Jay Jacobs understanding or agreement concerning contact or keeping a distance because Finebaum had the call-in jackals slobbering over Dad possibly in attendance at the title game and Cam and Dad hugging afterwards and what might have taken place at what it looks like for those mentioned and Auburn.
Can we have a lifesized picture of Cam and Cecil paraded throughout Tuscaloosa on a monster truck?
-
It really doesn't matter if he bought his own ticket. Fuck em all.

Cecil was to have his access to the Auburn football program limited.
That was it.
Nothing should have prevented him from attending the biggest game of his son's life...at a neutral/non-Auburn venue...if he wanted.
-
It really doesn't matter if he bought his own ticket. phuk em all.
No but the haters seem enthralled with the timeline and some sightings and that Cam didn't come back with the team and that Chizik didn't "properly" congratulate Oregon and Kelly in the post-game and anything negative about AU under the sun.
-

Yeah well the callers with the help of Phukbaum, seemed intent on hammering on the subject for an hour or more so it must be pure torture to them that Dad was there for any reason...as if he needed to be arrested without cause.
-
It really doesn't matter if he bought his own ticket. Fuck em all.
It does to the bammers because Jay Jacobs publicly announced that he wouldn't be there. Then he was there, despite the fact that all Auburn had any control over was whether they provided him a ticket, pass, or transportation.
And, true to form, even though this fucking mommy part that writes for a "real rag" actually seriously wrote "what was Cecil Newton even doing in the State of AZ anyway?" Finebaum defended her as a good journalist, that was fair and balanced, despite the fact that that question sounds like a question an 8 year old would ask if they had some base knowledge about the whole situation.
-

Cam didn't come back with the team because he went to LA to be on the Tonight Show with Leno.
-
Cecil wasn't at The Game, word on da skreets he was chillin at a bar outside of the stadium watching the game....he was at the Post-Game. He kept his word.
-
Cam didn't come back with the team because he went to LA to be on the Tonight Show with Leno.
Yes but the subject (to me)seemed to come down to when was it supposedly ok for their pariah of the entire 2010 season to have any contact with his son. He's dangerous you know. Hide ya wife, hide ya kids.
I say the final tick of the clock made it official. Agreement completed.

You don't think that shit matters to the bammers do you? They threw out that phrase again today that makes me want to vomit. "Cecil and Cam were THUMBING THEIR NOSES at the whole system".
-
And she's an advocate for women's rights.
That explains it

THIS....he agreed NOT to attend the game. He didn't. There was no game going on when he was seen on the field.
-

We saw Cecil walking around as we were heading into the game from the gray lot. He was walking away from the stadium towards the Westgate area.
-
If Cecil was really watching the game at a bar, surely some Auburn fans got some good pictures with him.
I mean, how great would it be to have a picture of Cecil taking shots with other Auburn fans with the game on a big flat screen in the background?

The thing is, if he were at the game, surely it would be even MORE likely that there would be pictures of him at the GAME. I'd say at least 99% of the people that were actually at the clusterfuck that was the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, actually went in the game. Everyone else who traveled probably watched the game from a bar (i.e. Upper Deck) in Scottsdale.

That's a good point.
I mean, the TV cameras found Cam's mother in the crowd. Surely they could have and would have found Cecil.
Also, surely someone was assigned to look for him because it would have been such a big story.
-
I read on another board last night that ABC 33/40 ran a story yesterday about Cecil watching the game outside the stadium. I went to their site but I couldn't find the story.
-
I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with WAR EAGLE!!! here.
I DON'T CARE!
-
I had to turn off the OD this morning. Jay I'm a crying vagina Evans just couldn't shut the fuck up about it. Tony I bring nothing to the show Big Nose was right up his ass too. Fuck em!

Mike Raita probably burned the tape.

Thats one bald headed sombitch I don't miss from seeing on the TV.
-
Totally agreed on the camera phone take. If Cec is in the house, his portrait is on 13,000 phones. Which is part of the problem with the media and why they have a sand spur in their panties. They think Cecil slipped in and they couldn't turn Auburn's time in the spotlight into a 3 ring circus by swooping down like vultures.
-
Bigger than any of that...this fucking Brennan mommy part actually used the phrase "lack of institutional control" to describe Cecil being at the game, and the Jay Barker-Evans of the world are running with that shit.
If you take it for what it really is...its the bammers clinging to the last, tiny, insignificant little item they can to scream about and hope someone in Indianapolis hears them, and comes running to see what the ruckus is. Then the bammers can tell them how Cecil and Cam "thumbed their noses" at them, and get them all pissed off and reverse the decision on Cam's eligibility.

I heard that. Lack of Institutional Control? Seriously?
Let's just say he did attend the game. Which he didn't. But let's humor them. How the fuck is that lack of institutional control if Auburn said don't come, and he did anyway. He's not a player. They can't fucking court order a grown-assed man to stay out of the state of Arizona who committed no crime. He knew this was his son's last game. It's not like he's a player, or on staff, or anything like that at all. Is Alabama guilty of LOIC for Mark Ingram Sr. committing bank fraud and money laundering? So what do you propose Auburn do to show Institutional Control, Christine? Chain him up in a dark basement in Guantanamo and waterboard him during the game?
Regardless of all of that, I am 100% certain he was not at the fucking game. Too many people saw him walking the other way before the game, and walking in after, and NO ONE saw him during the game.

Female caller on JOX now says she has seen pics on her friends phone of Cam's dad in a bar near the stadium during the game.

It. Doesn't. Fucking. Matter.

It. shouldn't. Fucking. Matter.
FTFY. And it really doesn't, except that there's a concerted effort on the part of a LOT of folks to, if they can't have the BCSC stripped away, at least squelch the enjoyment of it. Those of us that live in AL do have to listen to this shit EVERYWHERE we turn IF we want to hear anything about Auburn football.

I guess it is easier for me to say that since I don't hear it as much...
-

I know you folks that aren't here, and haven't been for a while lose sight of the "machine" here that drives the media, and how bammers are given complete free reign to spew bullshit 24/7 on the airwaves, not to mention the internet. How something as insignificant as Cecil Newton being at the post game, can turn in to a week long media feeding frenzy, and hundreds of bammer callers that think it matters.
-
I guess it is easier for me to say that since I don't hear it as much...
I would think that it would be just about as bad if you're out of state.
Any non-Auburn representation of sports media has been the worst at turning every molehill into a mountain as far as the Cam Newton stuff is concerned. If you're outside the state, where do you go to get your "unbiased" news about the situation? ESPN? The NYTimes? USAToday?
The general population's opinions are formed by these assclowns and their "anonymous sources", wild speculation, and peculiar fixation on burning a school in eastern Alabama to the ground.
-
It. Doesn't. Fucking. Matter.
It does when people in national papers start slandering about institutional control at our school. Haven't you seen how they can control public perception even if the story has no merit? this shit needs to be nipped. I'm thinking slander lawsuits out the ass ala what Mark Levin is doing with msnbc. If no one ever calls the media on false statements, they will keep doing it in the name of 'journalism'. freedom of speech and freedom of the press do not cover slander and defamation of character.

Classic example just now on JOX. Some caller calls in and during the conversation Tony says "Since Auburn is under investigation", and the caller says Auburn is not, and Tony argues with him, and when pinned down has to state that since Auburn's name is mentioned in the investigation, that it is under investigation. Al chimes in and says, no AUBURN isn't under investigation, Tony says then why did the NCAA talk to them? Al says that's where Cam plays, but it all happened in Starkville, and Tony does what idiots do when they can't get their point across and says "it's all semantics, Auburn is under investigation", and the show ends with that.

I say you, snaggle and Taylor need to take care of this guy in court.
All serious though. If these media folks got a few lawsuit scares, they would stop a lot of this.
-
Tony needs to go back to playing classic rock, because he fucking sucks as a sports talk guy.

He's actually pretty good at being the "glue" that holds the two former jocks together as a program, but he has some bad moments, and today was one.

Correct JR,
And Barker firstly followed by every other voice representing that station all think the same way. I actually like Tony, but he knows how to straddle the fence and keep a job. Al's the token AU rep.

Let's just call it like it is.....hes an arrogant cocksucking Yankee who likes to instigate shit.

Ratings people, ratings. The cock suckers are boosting ratings. They know nothing but dolla billz. I feel sorry for Al though having to put up with their shit so often.

...that obviously has some business sense, outside pull, horseshoe up his ass or combination of things going for him, cocksucking notwithstanding. But I was merely commenting on his longtime career in Birmingham that has withstood the test of time in a medium whose personalities are constantly on the move.

I've met the guy...he'll take the time to talk to you. He works 24/7, and a total jerk would get work like he does. He is a yankee, but he's been here a long time. Overall, I normally like the guy, and he normally doesn't get deep in to the substantive talk. Like I said, he's just "the glue"...the radio guy that keeps things going on the show. He's like the play by play guy....but when he gets in to color commentating, he's out of his element.
-
Point of order...seeing as how it wasn't an NCAA sanctioned event, it really shouldn't matter if his dad was there or not.

Anything negative concerning Auburn can make Finebaum a key player nationally and increase his cred and ratings. He can play both ends and come out like a charm.
