Title: Gameday Menu
Post by: Townhallsavoy on January 06, 2011, 01:25:10 PM
Those not lucky enough to go to Glendale -

What are you cooking up for the game?  We're having 15 people over, and I need ideas.

Also, does anyone know of a place in Birmingham that sells duck?

Publix might.

We are having around the same amount of people over.  We are going to do ribs, hamburgers, brats, corn, and a million gallons of beer.

War Eagle Buffalo Chicken Dip from a friend and fellow Auburn fan who was a test chef at Southern Living magazine.

Here's a link.

I haven't thought that far ahead yet.......Makers will be on the menu, more than likely burgers, dogs, brauts or wings and such.

Steak and baked potatoes.  Might even brand the steaks with the AU logo.

If I can't get in the arena I'm going here:

Having someone serve me beer and food while watching an Auburn game is tits. :tits:

Maybe it will give my wife some ideas.

Grilled Duck Breasts (marinated in butter, olive oil, Merlot & a few spices with a touch of citrus) along with Filet Mignon.

wild rice, salad, dinner rolls and one other side yet to be determined.

I have found duck here in Huntsville at Fresh Market and Kroger.

Single Malt, Wine & Jack will be available.

You said meat, balls, cock, tail and weenies all in the same sentence.

Huh huh huh

It will be my world famous (World meaning my house) ribs and wings.  Always have to throw some spicy hot polska kilbasa in teh man pit to grill up too.

The burrbinz for this event will be Knob Creek and/or Makers 46.

Might have been a slight exaggeration, but we will have kegs (plural).

I didn't even think of the roasted duck thing.

I believe I'll add that to my menu as well.

Are you not going to throw in a little Foie Gras for an appetizer?

You like it?  I wasn't crazy about the stuff.  Would much rather have Makers Mark.

You have to remember, we partake of our burrbinz in different ways.  It mixes pretty damn well but straight up, I can imagine it to be a little harsh.

Once again, you should try mixing with a little Diet Sprite.  Much better than Coke

Decent.  Probably the finest that TN produces.

Straight up (over ice) it's no where near as smooth as Markers Mark.  It has a harsh taste going down.  I might give it a shot again with some sprite zero.

I do mix with Coke but I like the Burrbin to dominate the taste.  I like a richer, more charcoal taste (If that's the proper description...probably not)  Not fond of real syrupy sweet burrbinz.

The only liver I am concerned with is my own.

And it shall be well marinated in Single Barrel Jack.

Snaggie, you would like this.

I still think that Gentlemen Jack is the best thing to come out of Lynchburg.  I am not a fan of TN whiskeys though.

Since I am currently bourbonless at the house....I believe I'll take your recommendation and pick some up on the way home tonight.  Report in the morning.  :)

I'm wanting to go with a duck and andouille sausage gumbo, but I'm still having trouble finding duck anywhere.

The two Publix locations near my house both said they don't carry it.

Ok, the boss called and said that I will be doing wings and she will be doing chicken fingers, dips and snacks.

So, wings, fingers, bean dip, chips, salsa, pigs in a blanket, cokes, tea, and bourbon.

I grilled all day and had tons of wings, ribs etc for the Bama game...but I was too pissed off then too nervous to eat while the game was on.  We had a house full of folks over watching and by the time the game was over...nothing left.  Apparently, they don't take Auburn football as seriously as I do.

we went through pretty much the same scenario at our place.

I will be at the game but I wanted to get in on the mini-bourbon discussion. To me, the story begins and ends with Bookers with crushed ice only. Of course I can't afford it for an every day drink, but I always have a bottle on hand for special occasions.

Booker is great.  But when a 750.ml bottle is over $50 at the store, I will gladly drink Makers or Eagle Rare for $26-30.  Yes, Bookers over ice, crushed or cubes, it matters not to me.

Side note:  The wife was the one that bought me the bottle of Makers 46, said she knew how much I liked Makers.  Once I told her I didn't like it, she called me a bourbon snob.  It's not that I couldn't drink it.  It wasn't as smooth as Makers Mark and has a nasty burn in the after taste.

Sonic ice!  No watering down, keeps it cold forever... my ice of choice for all my cold adult beverage needs.

Oh....My....Gawd.  Bookers?  Really? Really?

A few years ago, we were at a New Years Eve party at a home where the guy fancied himself as somewhat of an alcohol koneesewer.  Got to talking about bourbon with him and he lights up and says he's gonna' turn me on to the finest bourbon on the market.  Pours up a few fingers of Bookers over ice for me and my buddy.  We both took a sip and it was like Aunt B's kerosene cucumbers.  I would have loved to have had a video of our reactions.

What was funny is we couldn't get away from the guy every time we tried to find a sink to pour it out.  I thought that shit was going to burn right through the glass and start eating my hands up.

Funny you mention that because we were also looking for a coke...ANYTHING to take the edge off that firewater but the host was every where we went and we were too embarrassed to tell him his recommendation was burning a hole in my tongue.
