Alabama QB Greg McElroy says he feels '100 percent' after concussion suffered in loss to Auburn
TUSCALOOSA -- There were moments Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy struggled to find words for sentences in the days following a jarring concussion suffered during a 28-27 loss to Auburn on Nov. 26.
Consider his frustration just days after McElroy had interviewed for the final phase of the Rhodes Scholarship, a process that required him to speak with authority and intelligence about complex world issues.
According to teammates, McElroy was knocked unconscious after a fourth-quarter tackle by Tigers defensive back T'Sharvan Bell, who slammed McElroy to the turf.
McElroy was briefly motionless, but regained consciousness and was wobbly as he was helped to the bench.
McElroy spoke Wednesday for the first time since the hit, and said this was unlike any concussion he had suffered before.
"After experiencing the severity, the symptoms and the feelings I had after experiencing a concussion against Auburn, I realized I had never had an experience like that," he said. "I feel 100 percent now."
Alabama players have been unavailable for interviews since the day after the loss to Auburn. McElroy spoke on a teleconference Wednesday to promote his selection to the Jan. 29 Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile.
McElroy said Wednesday he coped with post-concussion symptoms for three or four days after the Iron Bowl.
"Often times, I will be in the middle of a conversation and completely lose my train of thought or draw a blank on a word that I was able to find," McElroy said. "It was just a very confusing feeling and a very difficult feeling just because I feel I'm able to express myself through my words at a higher level than I feel like a lot of people can. Having that confusion, I felt very disappointed." (Arrogant asshole)
McElroy said he is eager to return to practice today when the Crimson Tide begins preparations for the Jan. 1 Capital One Bowl against Michigan State.
McElroy will take in these final weeks as Alabama's quarterback with his eyes wide open.
"My time is very limited here in Tuscaloosa wearing an Alabama uniform," McElroy said. "I'm just looking forward to savoring every last moment and making the most of every opportunity to get better during the next week and a half, and obviously the bowl week."

If Mark Ingram would have done his job and picked up the corner blitz that Fluker was pointing out, it would be a moot point. That's what the RB is supposed to block on that play, not the OL. Fairley and whoever #94 is stunted, and they would have had a double on Fairley. Good defensive call though, because Ingram totally bit on the faked blitz down the middle and got tunnel vision as soon as he convinced himself it was coming.

T'Bell drove #76 into the ground, then laid the hit on McElmo. Had #76 tied Bell up just >--< this much longer, McElmo would have gotten the ball off, or could have at least tried to throw it away. of course, knowing when to let go of the ballis not one of his strong suits.

Uhhh, Fluker fell trying to get turned around fast enough to catch that little fucker. I promise you Bell didn't "drive him into the ground". This is what it looks like when DJ Fluker gets driven to the ground (watch Fluker, RT....):

Gives a new meaning to "Getting your bell rung", doesn't it?
Imagine the outcry if Fairly had been the one that did that to McElwimp. Two quarterbacks put out in as many weeks. They'd have been out for blood for sure, don't you think?
Either way, it's just football. If you can't handle it, get off the field, right?

It's just one of those things. I seriously doubt Bell meant to really hurt him. Anytime you get a chance to legally hit the QB, you knock the shit out of him. That's football.
