And, for Chizik it certainly is turning out to be rewarding.

For getting to the SEC Championship Game and winning 12 games, he earned $225,000 in incentive clauses in his contract.

He picked up another $225,000 for beating South Carolina and winning the SEC Championship Game on Saturday.

There's more at stake: $50,000 for winning a 14th game, $100,000 for finishing among the top 5 teams in the AP or USA Today/ESPN polls, $100,000 for winning SEC Coach of the Year from the AP or the coaches, $100,000 for winning National Coach of the Year from AFCA, AP, Walter Camp or Home Depot or the Bryant Award and $500,000 for winning the BCS national championship.

If each of those occur over the next five weeks, it totals to $1.3 million in bonuses.

That's $650,000 already locked up (assuming we don't drop out of the Top 5 in all of the polls). Lost the SEC Coach of the year, so that saved Jacobs $100K. Already got the Home Depot award, so I guess any other Coach of the Year awards he gets won't help him.

$550,000 left to earn for winning this game in January.

$1.2 million out of a possible $1.3 million ain't a bad bonus for Gene.

1.2 Mil.

Where in the world other than the US could you get a $1.2M bonus for doing your job, working your ass off, getting a little lucky, and leading your team to be the best of all the rest?

I am guessing you are a glass half empty kind of guy...

I guess we'll have to start sneaking in the liquor and the food.
